I have had the pleasure ( or in many cases displeasure ) of dealing with many dealerships in my lifetime. Never have I been as pleased with the experience I have had at J.H Barkau and Joe Shores in Cedarv of dealing with many dealerships in my lifetime. Never have I been as pleased with the experience I have had at J.H Barkau and Joe Shores in Cedarville. In March I bought a used Ford Ranger with intentions on using it when I retired in 2014 , I purchased it at a very fair price and truly enjoyed the dealing and financing in such a professional manner. Well things happen when you buy a 17 year old vehicle with 150,000 miles on it . In late October I experienced some major problems . I contacted Joe more to thank him for the Birthday E-mail he had sent me than any thing else and he asked how the truck was running . I explained to him the issues I was having and that I really did not expect anything from them after all it was 17 years old and I knew you buy older vehicles as is . At this point I was floored when he said he would have a wrecker sent over to Rockford to pick it up and work with me to resolve this problem ! I tried to explain that this was not my intention to get some help in this matter and he reassured me that they ( J.H. Barkau ) wanted to make everything right . Well I cannot give the people at this dealership enough thanks , they have brought back the tradition of trust and honesty that have been lost in so many ways in today's way of doing business .... Our car buying experience was great. The trade-in price was where we expected to be as well as the total price of the car. Jim Mullarkey has been the reason for our continuing to come back to Barkau's. He is very personable and easy to deal with. Jim set the tone for repeat business from us and my husband's former business partner as well. Besides Jim Mullarkey, Brandon Goecks was very friendly and helpful when it came all the paperwork involved at signing on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Jim made sure that we got things in order and finalized in a very timely manner so that we could be on our way to Indiana for the birth of our grandson.
