My wife hit a deer, which resulted in the hunt for a new car. Our experience with this dealership started off great. We happened to be in the area meeting friends when we stopped at this dealership to look car. Our experience with this dealership started off great. We happened to be in the area meeting friends when we stopped at this dealership to look around. We met Lawrence our sales consultant as soon as we got to JBA Kia in Glen Burnie. Lawrence was very professional, down to earth, and answered all our questions with ease. We live on the Eastern Shore in MD, it's over an hour drive to this dealership, we came back because we were happy with the quality of service Lawrence provided. He without a doubt is why we came back to this dealership. With that being said, after I finish some paperwork and they send the car off to get detailed, it was time to meet with an employee in the finance department. The experience with this gentlemen is the reason for the one star rating. We were not interested in any extra warranties with the vehicle we were purchasing. We had an ideal monthly payment we needed to make work in order to purchase the car, the numbers he gave us were NOT in our range. He then began trying to explain why we need the warranties. We listened, and we politely declined, AGAIN. At that point he was extremely sharp and unpleasant. Trying to break the tension, I mentioned that I understood that not taking the additional warranties may be something I have to worry about down the road, but I said I was an mechanic by trade, and that will be my problem to deal with in the future. The mans comment to that was "Well, are you a KIA mechanic?!" And of course, we took that exactly the way any normal person would considering the tone in his voice. By this time, he has just became increasingly more disgruntled as he was reworking the numbers for us, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. After the warranty fiasco was over, I ended up having to put more money down, which is fine. He proceeds to say "Are you paying with cash or card?" I inform him I will be paying with a personal check. The man proceeds to say harshly and in disbelief 'You can write a personal check for "said amount"?" My wife and I were floored at the way he was speaking to us. How insulting. I can't believe how poorly we were spoken to in the short time we had with this guy. We were tempted to leave but at that point, we found the car that my wife loved and Lawrence didn't deserve to lose money on a deal that he himself worked hard to make happen. JBA Kia, I implore you to stress to this employee that it was completely unprofessional how we were treated. Hopefully this review will help how all customers are treated in the future. More
