They are not reputable! Buyer Beware! On May 24, 2016, I went to Island Subaru to see a 2013 Subaru Forester advertised on their website for $18,900, certified used. After I agreed to buy On May 24, 2016, I went to Island Subaru to see a 2013 Subaru Forester advertised on their website for $18,900, certified used. After I agreed to buy the car, I was told there was a certified used fee over and above the price of the car. So I paid $20,775 for the car. Island Subaru said they had to drive it 50 miles before they could inspect it. So it was delivered to my house the next day. When it arrived the next day, it had one key. I was entitled to 2 keys for certified used. Not knowing I was entitled to 2 keys, I paid to have a second key made at the Subaru dealer in Bay Ridge which is much closer to me . Island Subaru will not reimburse me for the second key. A few days after we got the car, we realized the bracket that holds the battery in place was cracked and the battery was rattling around. The USB port also wasn't working, which I specifically asked about before agreeing to buy the car. Last week, the brake light started to come on so I took it back to Bay Ridge Subaru and was told there was no oil or brake fluid in the car. An open recall had also not been performed before the car was sold to me. I specifically paid the extra money for a certified used car so I would not have these problems. This dealer has shady business practices! A certified used car should not have been sold with no oil or brake fluid! I was not given what I paid for! Is this the reputation you want for Subaru? In just over a month, I have been back to service 3 times. When I tried to call Island Subaru about this issue, the phone just rang and rang. I called on different times and different days, during their posted business hours. On one occasion, I got a person who took a message and said "I'll check into this and call back tomorrow, I never heard from her again. Two other times, they transferred me to my salesman, and the phone just rang and rang. I was never able to get a manager on the phone. I finally asked the Island Subaru online chat window for the manager's number. They said they didn't have the number, and asked for my number. I gave it. The manager never called me, but I got texts and emails trying to sell me a car! I finally got Greg Kemp on the phone. He has been no help at all. He did not seem to care at all that I was not given what I was promised and what I paid for. I am extremely disappointed in my experience with Island Subaru. I have spent needless hours taking care of problems that I should never have had. This dealer is disreputable. More
Great experience Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. From start to finish they went out of their way to make sure i was happy with every aspect of the purchase. It was refreshing to have a car buying experience that made me feel like i was actually an appreciated customer, and to find a dealership that went above and beyond to find me exactly what i was looking for. Made to feel like family. I bought my new Forester at Island. I had the pleasure of dealing with John Espinoza and the sales manger Greg Kemp. Take that old notion of a car sal I bought my new Forester at Island. I had the pleasure of dealing with John Espinoza and the sales manger Greg Kemp. Take that old notion of a car salesman and throw it out the window. They couldn't do enough for me. They called, texted and even emailed me to make sure i was happy with my purchase. My Forester had to be ordered and they kept me posted every step of the way. When i picked up my vehicle John was off and Sam Chyorny filled in for him, so now i delt with three members of Island Subaru's staff and they were outstanding! I refer to those three as the dream team. More
Calm, Well Balanced, and Professional advocates for customer I went to this dealership based on a Consumer Reports and Costco Member referral program. I stayed with this dealership to make the purchase because I went to this dealership based on a Consumer Reports and Costco Member referral program. I stayed with this dealership to make the purchase because Dennis was pleasant , not pushy, calm, caring of my needs, and overall a pleasant, nice person who presented a fair, accurate price with no errors or repetitive price changes/increases throughout the process as other dealer I went to previously for a different vehicle. He conducted himself and the procedure in accordance with the outline I read on Consumer Reports, therefore I trusted him, and moved immediately to a purchase upon my first visit. I feel he really wanted me to have a car that met my needs and gave me a price within the Consumer Reports acceptable range, so within a week I went home with my car from our first visit. He also made sure I got the interior/exterior color I wanted, and didn't push something that was just there to move it out which made me trust him further (this procedure at another dealer made me just leave for the color is important to me for I buy a car every 13 to 19 years and want to like it). A true gentlemen got the job done painlessly, and diminished my initial anxiety and fear of the process. Bless you, Dennis! More

We worked with sales person Mike Superti who made us extremely glad we walked in. Mike listened to our concerns and worked real hard to make us and our buget very happy. Mike was personable and professional. Thanks also go to the rest of the staff for helping us. The entire process was extremely simple, fast and painless.
