Service Dept left a lot to be desired. Work proposed was not explained adequately. Mistake made on final bill, I had to draw attention to it after I had paid it. I have been a loyal customer of the IRA Subaru Service Center for over 7 years, and I am disappointed to say that the quality of service this year has questionable. I have no issues with the service agent Center for over 7 years, and I am disappointed to say that the quality of service this year has questionable. I have no issues with the service agents, but the mechanics’ work has been sloppy. I had to get my short block replaced this summer. Although it took one month to arrive, the service was completed without trouble. However, more issues started to appear right after this service (July 2024). When I got my car back, it had three new problems not present before my car was serviced: 1) the radiator fan was not plugged in, 2) the power steering fluid was leaking, and 3) AC on the driver’s side vents was not cooling. My boyfriend and I found the 1st issue while inspecting my car for the leak source, so he was able to plug the fan back in. The temperature was cool that week so luckily my engine did not overheat! It was such an obvious miss, which shows sloppiness when the mechanic was putting the engine back. The power steering leak was slow and the AC was just an inconvenience, so I decided after 2 months to take the car back for service to fix the issues. For my 2nd visit (Oct 2024), I was told that the power steering rack needed to be replaced due to corrosion. Fine, but the part needed to be ordered and I was sent back with my car. My power steering fluid started to leak much faster after the inspection. I had asked if I could get a loaner, but there were none available so I was told to drive the car back. The power steering fluid was topped off, but it ran low on fluid and the steering wheel was choppy by the time I arrived home (10 mi). I felt very unsafe driving the car back. I communicated this to Dan Hutt and he offered me a loaner if there was one available, which I got a few days later. However, I would have rather been offered a ride home than to drive my car back in that state. After my power steering rack was replaced, I was informed that my power steering pump was “burned” due to driving without fluid (would cost me another $1600, on top of the $2500 service). I called to escalate this as the issue seemed suspicious, and I eventually got a call back from Dan to tell me that their technicians might not know how to properly get air out of the new power steering rack (2013 Forester). After looking into the issue, the “burned out pump” was mysteriously no longer an issue. This was the moment I lost faith in the service center. My trust was taken advantage of and if I did not ask questions, I would have paid for an unnecessary service! In addition, the car failed the final road test due to a bad oxygen sensor. According to the invoice, the oxygen sensor “has wires soaked in oil” and the check engine light was supposedly on. I find it very questionable that the sensor could be “soaked” unless something happened during the service. The power steering fluid leak was under the car on the driver’s side (as confirmed by my boyfriend and I). I have no proof that the issue occurred due to the power steering rack replacement, but I question the origin of this issue. The check engine light was definitely not on when I delivered the car back for service. Overall, I have lost trust in the quality of the IRA Subaru service center. The agents (Lindsey and Michaela) have always been fantastic, but that does not justify the service that I have been receiving. I recommend my friends or family to not come here anymore. More
