My car broke down 10 days after I bought it from Countryside Nissan in Chicago. Living in Fort Wayne, I took it to the local Nissan dealership who charged outrageous prices. They went back and forth Countryside Nissan in Chicago. Living in Fort Wayne, I took it to the local Nissan dealership who charged outrageous prices. They went back and forth with me about getting a warranty fix done vs other repairs. They insisted I get these other repairs done on top of the warranty fix. I found a different mechanic to do the other repairs for a fair price. I called corporate to try and get help to sort out the mess. It was difficult to make contact and answers were not provided because of inability for corporate to make contact with the dealership. The dealership finally agreed to just do the warranty fix, but still charged me two diagnostic fees. I pick up my car to pay and take it to the second mechanic and the sunroof had been moved and the entire roof interior was soaked and the housing was sloshing with water while driving. I looked at the sunroof seal another time and noticed it was now damaged. The second mechanic had my car done in a day. But now what do I do about this leak! It was in the dealership service shop for 23 business days, just under a lemon. For me that was a total of 33 days from dropping my car off to picking it up. Not only was I sold a car without being properly answered when asked about the mechanical condition, but the service has been untimely and very difficult to do business with. I would not recommend Nissan. I believe it happened because the dealerships are all independent and corporate has no control over them or their decisions, so there’s no one to hold them accountable. They don’t have to care about customers. Like selling cars that are “safe to drive” for 10 days and not sharing a mechanic report when asked. Or the impact on the cost of commute when a car is in their shop. An unfortunate situation all around, but I learned to get a pre purchase inspection outside of the dealership and don’t do non warranty service with them. More
Charged me $170 for the diagnostics to determine a new battery was needed. Total over $700 for a simple battery replacement. After the fact, other Infiniti dealerships (Ann Arbor and Indianapolis) told battery was needed. Total over $700 for a simple battery replacement. After the fact, other Infiniti dealerships (Ann Arbor and Indianapolis) told me the $170 diagnostic fee should have been removed once I decided to have the dealership repair the problem.
