Let us begin our response by saying that we have been in communication with the Ockwells about this matter, and have honored the "doubly discounted" price. We consider this matter closed, but believe that the Ockwells are still not satisfied with our business, and we feel compelled to give more information about what occurred. This was the second vehicle that the Ockwells purchased from us. We have reviewed their first transaction and have found that they made a very good deal on their purchase. We believe that they must also have been satisfied with their experience with us, since they decided to purchase a second vehicle from us. Our Sales Manager on duty at the time the Ockwells came to our dealership the second time, was relatively new to our business, having started in his position with us in December. When entering the Ockwells’ information into our computer system, he inadvertently doubled the “Ford of Kirkland” discount, and the purchase documents were printed with the wrong purchase price. Our staff failed to detect this error until later in the evening, after the Ockwells had taken delivery of their vehicle. If our Sales Manager had made an error and inadvertantly charged more that the advertised price for the vehicle, we would have honored the advertised price. In this case, the error was reversed, and we hoped to receive the same consideration from our customers, who had purchased two vehicles from us. The Ockwells felt strongly entitled to the purchase price entered in error. So strongly, in fact, that they advised us that if we contacted them again to ask their help in rectifying our very serious error, that they would negatively report on our business across the internet. We are sincerely sorry for our error, and how we handled our error. We have counseled our team, and hope that in the future, this situation would never arise again. We have reviewed this situation with our team. We advertise a large volume of vehicles. Our prices start at MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price). Many, if not most, dealers mark cars up from MSRP, calling this "additional dealer markup". We feel that MSRP less factory incentives on the Hyundai as well as the Ford product offers an incredible value. We sell most of our cars for less than this, and seek to sell a high volume of vehicles and give great service at the same time. For all of 2010, we were the #1 volume Hyundai retailer in the state of Washington, as well as the #1 volume Ford retailer in the state of Washington. We also enjoy very high customer satisfaction ratings from the vast majority of our customers. We are a team of humans, and whenever we make mistakes, we try to make it right by our customers.
