Leasing experience at Hyundai of Kirkland Brenda was very easy to work with, professional, personable, and friendly. I had researched what I wanted online and by the time I was ready to purcha Brenda was very easy to work with, professional, personable, and friendly. I had researched what I wanted online and by the time I was ready to purchase, knew exactly what I wanted, which was not in the dealership inventory. Understandably, the sales manager, Thi, would have liked to sell me something from inventory and offered me a deal on inventory vehicles close to meeting my requirement, but once it was understood that I wanted what I wanted, he took the necessary steps to bring the vehicle in from a dealership in a neighboring state at the price I wanted to pay. Overall, both Brenda and Thi were great to work with, and the whole experience was excellent. I would recommend them. Rick in the service department was responsive when I could not figure out how one of the features of the vehicle worked. More
Offensive General Sales Manager David Kim was the employee that actually sold us the vehicle. His conduct was professional and friendly, although there were some issues communicating David Kim was the employee that actually sold us the vehicle. His conduct was professional and friendly, although there were some issues communicating our questions to him and getting adequate answers due to language differences (e.g. we thought that we had agreed that roof rails would be included in the price based on conversation with Mr. Kim but found out they weren't when talking to financing). There were some issues with other sales staff, with one in particular being extremely unprofessional and offensive - Thi Nguyen, a General Sales Manager. After deciding on a financing plan, Mr. Nguyen came into Mr. Kim's office to offer what he pitched as a better deal. When he first introduced himself, he mocked the accent of Mr. Kim (who was not present) and derisively said that he can't understand anything Mr. Kim says even after working with him for years. While going over the new offer, this employee was very aggressive and jabbed a permanent marker into the paper listing details several times, hard enough that several marks remained on the desk after he left the room. Another racist comment emerged as he explained the offer and said "I'm the only Asian that doesn't know math", but this deal makes the most sense. He also brought up the topic of tax refunds and payments, lamenting that he owed an extra $28,000 this year and the most he ever got back as a refund was $14,000. These figures indicate a huge amount of wealth relative to most people and came across as quite braggadocious. We ultimately decided not to go with the newly offered financing plan (even though it would have resulted in a slightly lower total payment amount over the 72 month loan period) based on our desire to delay payments for 5 months instead of 3. This was a personal decision based on our financial situation, but Mr. Nguyen basically ridiculed it and said he would give us the original offer but that we were "throwing money away". A member of financing staff later re-iterated the point but was much less aggressive and offensive about it. Overall, we bought the vehicle at Hyundai of Kirkland because we had done research to know what we wanted, needed a vehicle in the very short term, and knew that the price offered at this location was as low as we would get anywhere. If any of those factors didn't exist, we would have walked out of the dealership based on the offensive and aggressive behavior of Thi Nguyen. I will not return to this location for any service or purchases in the future based on my dismal first experience. More
