They insisted the diagnostics showed it needed a fuel system service - cleaning, etc. Why did a car with 16,000 miles on it need fuel system service? They said it actually needed it earlier. So why hadn't it been done before they sold it to us? No answer. We were out $177 for maintenance on an essentially new car. Either the service department was lying about it needing a fuel-system clean, or they should have done it at 12,000 miles, before they sold it to us. Either way, I'll not be back. Not even for an oil change. More

Which I know the dealership would usually be cheaper to fix that at. I was very shocked at what the technician said was actually wrong with my car. I was told that my camshaft gear was failing and that the car was not safe to drive. I was also told that the O2 sensor was broken (as I thought). They gave me a repair quote that also included an 'urgent' need to replace my timing belt, flush every fluid I have, replace the brakes, replace the struts, replace the battery, and replace the radiator hoses. Totaling over $3500. This didn't feel right and so I picked up my car (paid $121 for the inspection) and took it too my regular mechanic. He went through the entire list the Hyundai technician made and was down right appalled. Of that entire list only 3 things even needed to be done at all and only one was urgent. The O2 sensor needed to be replace (as I said at the beginning), my transmission fluid needed to be flushed soon and my timing belt was up to be replaced based on my mileage but it was not urgent. The camshaft gear had no problems, my car was not 'UN-drivable' or 'unsafe' to drive as the service department said. Upon further inspection I noticed that my mileage was not recorded right on the repair estimate. It is over 30,000 miles short of my actual mileage. I highly suspect this is not my car. Yet I paid for an inspection for someone else's car that looks like (from the quote) is ready to fall apart. This is a very troubling oversight from the service department. More

When I left if was apparent the heating system still wasn't working. Then I looked at the bill and saw they charged be again for the same part. I called an left two phone messages about the problem and got no return call. My husband decided to look at my car to see if he could figure out the problem. When he opened the hood we discovered the engine cover was missing. They had taken it off and failed to put it back on. He called about both the over charge on the bill and the missing cover. No response. I wrote a letter to the service manager and took it into the shop. After a week we have not received a response. So, they charged us twice for the same part, didn't fix the original problem, stole our engine cover, and haven't made any effort to make it right. We paid $283, didn't have our car for two days, ;didn't get our heating system fixed and we now have to buy an engine cover. Go anywhere but Sheppard Motors. I can't imagine a place with less integrity, less of a concern for customer satisfaction. More

After I drove home over 100 miles, I checked the oil to find it was down a liter of oil. I left a message of my dissatifaction on Sheppard's answering machine and recieved a call back three day's later with a message on my phone that went something like this. "Hi, my name is John R____. It is my job to call back people like you, Oh, that didn't sound right, ........" Well John, it's people like me who have bought three new cars from Sheppard Motors that keep you in business. The last thing I expected was for your company to steal a liter of oil from me in order to save a little money! MY RECOMMENDATION IS NEVER GET YOUR OIL CHANGED AT SHEPPARD MOTORS. More
Horrible service all around. You generally have to leave messages when calling their service department. The service guy that was helping me was helping and talking to other people while I was there AND in messages when calling their service department. The service guy that was helping me was helping and talking to other people while I was there AND in another instance when calling to get a quote on service work. The service staff are not very knowledgeable about Volkswagen vehicles which worries me about having me vehicle worked on there. Instead of the service guy apologizing to me about their service, or lack thereof, he was justifying his actions as a "normal business practice". They have lost my future business in service and new car purchasing. More

They recommended a brake fluid exchange even though I had done it three months ago. When I came to get my car back, the service associate even checked the car in front of me and my brake fluid was clean as a whistle. These guys are scam artists. They recommended other repair items that I believe are unnecessary. Find a local mechanic you can trust, don't come here unless you want to be fleeced. More
