The best part about this dealership is their customer service Alexander Collas was our salesman and he was extremely helpful. I have mixed feelings about this dealership. I had just moved to NJ and was in desperate need of a car. I needed a nice car which would not give me any problems. I didn't have the time to wait around and g moved to NJ and was in desperate need of a car. I needed a nice car which would not give me any problems. I didn't have the time to wait around and get the car checked by a mechanic and all the other things that one needs to do before buying a used car so I decided to go with a certified used car. The entire experience was good. The salesperson on the floor, Purandar, was great and helped me pick a car which was about a year old with only 6000 miles on it. Everything went fine until I reached the finance department. Now please bear in mind that I admit most of this is my fault but what I'd like to make people aware of is the deception which I think I was purposely carried out. I had negotiated with the sales people that they would "thrown in" installation of keyless entry and the car price would include all registration, titling and documentary fees + sales tax. I checked the purchase order which listed it exactly how I negotiated it. Then came the contract. In between, Steve tried to convince me to get extra care warranty which I declined because I had bad experience with something similar in my previous car purchase. Steve got to work and started printing out forms for me to sign. He also asked me sign a waiver that I was explained everything about extra warranties and that I declined it. I started getting papers to sign while I was in his office. Here's where I messed up - I checked some of the papers and then believed that he is just giving me paperwork as we had discussed. Bottomline: I signed some paperwork without reading it completely. I left the dealership with the car and the promise from them to install the car alarm at a later date. It took them a good month to get my registration done after which I received my car's billing statement. Everything was fine except - the total amount I owed was about $2000 more than what I had signed for. So I went through the contracts and found: 1) Steve had added extra care package + GAP insurance which I had declined. Like a fool I signed it too. 2) The registration, titling and documentary fees amounting to $450 was added to the price of the car even though the purchase order already included it So I went back to the dealership and explained it to them. The contract clearly showed the sales tax and all of these additional items listed under it as line items with a summary at the bottom amounting to the extra $2000. Obviously Steve realized what had happened or that I figured out (finally) what he did. He said that I can take out all of the above items right now. I was fine with that except for the extra $450 for paperwork. He went out and came back with an explanation. He said that the car alarm system which I was claiming to be free wasn't really free and the price was built in. I showed him the paperwork which listed the summary (its funny that the contract has final amount as line item 6 (3+4+5)) but Steve refused to acknowledge that and said, "Its just how its broken down!" I asked him if he had a legal obligation to disclose that I was paying for the alarm system on paperwork. He said that he wasn't. We normally build it in to the price which was grade a bologne! I left from there after 2 hours of haggling and being ganged up on by others. I will take this up with consumer protection department and bad business bureau and make sure they can't do it ever again to anybody else. Please be aware of what you're signing. Even if you've been at the dealership for 5 hours and worn out, get a cup of coffee, stretch out a bit, regroup yourself but make sure you read "each and every" piece of paper. If you make any verbal deals, make sure you get everything in writing from them. More
