I Have had my Civic serviced at this location for a few years and experienced was very good. Recently received a recall on the paint from Honda Corp. I was pleased to learn that Honda was taking responsibility for this issue, as my car looks great with the exception of the paint on the roof. It is faded and looks bad. Friends make comments about it, and I share my experience. Long story short, I made several visits to this service department about this and never received any follow up. I believe this was done purposely so the extended warranty time for this issue would expire. I guess i will have to have this corrected on my dime. Not returning to Honda of Toms River... too bad. Once was a happy customer. More

My 2004 Honda Accord EX had all the radio & climate control display lights go out in the center console for the 2nd time. The 1st time was in 2006 but Honda replaced it since it was still under warran control display lights go out in the center console for the 2nd time. The 1st time was in 2006 but Honda replaced it since it was still under warranty. I went to Toms River Honda on March 5, 2014 to be diagnosed. They said it would cost $2,486.00 to replace the radio control unit. I then got a 2nd estimate from AAA for $986.00. I got a 3rd estimate from Joyce Honda in Denville, NJ, the dealer who replaced it in 2006. They told me there was a Class Action suit over this issue and Honda was ordered to extend the warranties on the radio control unit for 7 years. Honda Corporate made a special arrangement with the dealers to sell the part to them at cost & they were to install it w/o labor for a cost of $215.00. Why didn’t Toms River Honda inform me of this? They wanted $2,486.00 to do the job. Conclusion: stay away from Toms River Honda More
In two separate occaasions, I have made appts with Toms River Service for oil changes for my CRV at the mileage indicated on the sticker placed on my windshield by the TR Honda service dept. Twice I called River Service for oil changes for my CRV at the mileage indicated on the sticker placed on my windshield by the TR Honda service dept. Twice I called to verify appts. Twice I drove the 10 miles to this dealership, only to be told that it was not yet time for an oil change and they wasted my entire morning each time. They also refused to fix my defective indicator light for the rear door. This is rude and shows a lack of consideration for the customer and a serious lack of communication among employees. The oil change sticker mileage should be accurate and when a call is made to verify its accuracy and an appt made, it should be honored. No customer should have to drive 10 miles to have their vehicle serviced only to be sent home with no service and no consideration of their time. I am totally disgusted with this service department. I am pretty sure these folks engaged in criminal behavior. I went in my my used civic for their "free inspection". When I left they had shrpritzed fresh motor oil on the timing belt cover and a couple other places. They tried to con me into about $1000 of work. I am a backyard mechanic and had given the car a good look when I bought it from its adult, first-owner. No leaks were present. No spots on his driveway or in his garage, and no evidence of any recent cleaning of theses surfaces or car's underside. I was highly suspect of this dealer even before I went in to get this free inspection. Now I am thinking of contacting NJ's state Dept. of Community Affairs to see if there is some way to stop these crooks from preying on the unsuspecting. MY BIG TIPOFF ON THIS WAS THE FACT THAT THE CAR NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE, SO THE MOTOR OIL WAS DARK BROWN AND DIRTY. THE OIL THAT THEY APPLIED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE ENGINE WAS CLEAN, CLEAR AND FRESH. IT DRIZZLED ON MY DRIVEWAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THEY HAD TOUCHED THE CAR. THEN THE DRIPPING STOPPED. THAT WOULD BE IN KEEPING WITH AN ATTEMPTED CON JOB. More
