On October 26, 2012 I received a sales paper from Honda of Gainesville in my Gainesville Sun. The advertisement sounded too good to be true, something I had been waiting to see. Among all of the qualifiyin of Gainesville in my Gainesville Sun. The advertisement sounded too good to be true, something I had been waiting to see. Among all of the qualifiying credentials mentioned were "we will take your trade in no matter how much you owe" and No customer will be rejected due to credit issues, bankrupticies, repos, etc. I wanted a more economical car as I have a 2006 Nissa Altima and I owe more than it is worth plus I don't have the best credit, I decided what the heck, let's see if I can get approved so I applied online. The following day, October 27,2012 I received a phone call from Ryan Hurewitz stating that my application was approved and asked me to come in and look at some cars. I pulled up to Honda of Gainesville around 2:00 that afternoon. Ryan met me there and showed me several cars, one of which was a 2010 Honda Fit. I test drove the Fit after Ryan told me that the bank would work with me on that car and then I decided to take the car. Ryan walked me over to the finance office and had me sit and wait for a bit. After a while he came back and stated that he had "good news" my trade in wouldn't be a problem as my finance company for my trade in would accept the car back with no problems and they would re sell the car themselves.I had never heard of this happening but I was happy, I would be getting a newer car, that was very economical and reliable and wouldn't have to worry about my trade in. I gave Honda $1200.00 as a down payment and signed all my papers and was taking the car home when I told Ryan I needed to get my things from my old car. He told me that I would be taking my old car back home as well and the finance company would get in touch with me to pick it up. A little over a week had passed and the new finance company for the Honda Fit called me to do an after purchase interview. They only asked me a few questions when I was asked if I traded in a car as there was no mention of a trade in. I told the person that I gave them a check for $1200.00 as a down payment and tried to trade in my 2006 Nissan Altima but my finance company for the Altima wanted the car back to sell it themselves. I heard silence on the phone for a few seconds as I was asked to repeat myself. Then I was told that they would call me back. As soon as I hung up the phone, Ryan from Honda of Gainesville called me to let me know the finance company would be calling me for the after purchase interview. I interrupted him before he could go on and told him that they had just called. He asked me what was asked and what I said and I told him. He sounded concerned as he told me he would call me back. A few hours passed and I decided to text Ryan as he had been texting me days before and I still had the messages in my phone. I texted him and asked what was going on as I had a bad feeling now due to their strange behavior. Ryan texted me back and said I might have to return the Honda Fit. I was really caught off guard! I asked why?? He said because I was going to allow my Nissan Altima to be reposessed and the bank didn't like it. I texted Reposessed??? What do you mean reposessed? He texted that giving the car back to the finance company would be reposession. I never agreed to have my car reposessed!!! I had no clue that this was going to happen. I told Ryan this and he told me "it shouldn't matter to me since I already had a previous reposession on my credit history." I was astonished! I had been used to buy a car to get money to Honda of Gainesville at the expense of having my "trade in" reposessed. I was shocked and upset. I called right away to Honda of Gainesville and asked to speak to a manager. Conveniently, the manager had gone home for the day, on a Monday at 4:00 in the afternoon. I left a message to be called back. I did the same the following day and the manager was busy with a customer, left a message and didn't hear back. On Wednesday I called again and asked for the manager and got the manager of Used Car sales, who promptly told me I needed to speak to a finance manager and said the finance manager was with a customer and would have to call me back. On Thursday, four days after this whole fiasco started, I called again and again, the manager was busy and would return my call. I decided to email the Regional Manager, telling him everthing that happened, just as I have done in this review. On Friday morning at 8:00 am sharp, the manager from Honda of Gainesville called me, finally... He told me he would see what he could do, he would try different banks, try to get my car taken as a trade in and get me financed. At 2:30 in the afternoon, I received a phone call. I could not get financed afterall, they could not accept my trade in and that I needed to turn in my Honda Fit so I did. How hard is it to just be honest, don't advertise what you can't live up to and don't try to pull the wool over peoples eyes, just to make money. Someone will catch you, I don't know how many others have gotten their cars reposessed because their finance companies agreed to take their cars back too. This is ourageous and unacceptable behavior. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and contacted an attorney. More
