First, in reading these reviews it has surprised me to see how the quality has markedly improved within the past year. Obviously, someone who cares is now in charge and I hope it continues. Now, as for see how the quality has markedly improved within the past year. Obviously, someone who cares is now in charge and I hope it continues. Now, as for my experience. I've never been to a dealership to buy, much less to get service. I always went to a chain repair shop. But when my check engine light came on I decided to see the pros. I scheduled an appointment for service online and asked a few questions. Within hours I got a reply with answers (and price quotes) for everything from Kevin. When I showed up, I was on guard for upsells and unnecessary suggestions. What I got was far from that: They diagnosed my light, found the problem (much cheaper than I feared), and here's the kicker...the work was scheduled to take longer than the service dept was open. Instead of telling me I was outta luck, Kevin arranged to have the mechanic finish the work (Saturday evening) and due to an issue with the parts department being closed, he took my payment information by phone. I was able to pick up the car at 7pm on Saturday and the charge was done Monday morning, only after Kevin called and confirmed the work was okay with me. WOW! No extras, no pressure, and everything was to accommodate ME, not the dealership. They even WASHED MY CAR for free (which makes me laugh, as I'm a bit embarrassed to have brought it in so dirty!) Well, a week later, the light came back. Kevin had me come back in and they spent an hour more on it. Nothing was found and the light was reset again. All of this was free of charge to me and again, a totally friendly experience. I now have (or will have) all my work done here, as long as Kevin's running the show. A month later, I decided to have my brakes done due to squealing. Again, they checked everything out and suggested the least-expensive option instead of insisting I needed the whole thing done. Unfortunately, this time it was a little worse - I was told an hour and a half and it ended up being 4 hours (I was waiting at the dealership the entire time). I understand, it was Saturday and they were busy. Kevin gave me status updates which helped, as I admit I was getting testy as each hour ticked by. Still, it was a better experience than anything I'd ever had at the Chain Store Which Shall Remain Unnamed. I rated them a 4 on price because, well, dealerships will ALWAYS be pricier than chains but because I wasn't gouged and because Kevin accepted the coupons from the dealer's website it wasn't toooo painful. As a side note, while I was waiting for the brake job (yep, all 4 hours), I spent a while looking at the new Mazda3's in the showroom. I was prepared for the sharks, I mean salesmen, to pounce. Instead, one friendly lady asked if I needed help and I explained I was waiting on my car to be serviced. However, the overall vibe was relaxed and I got a good feeling being there. When I am ready to buy my next car, hopefully in a few months, I plan to go to Duval Mazda FIRST. Thanks to these reviews, I now know who to deal with =) More
