I have known Torben since I bought my MazdaSpeed3 new in 2008. He was a service tech at that time and helped me up-grade my car with all MazdaSpeed racing equipment-cold air intake, coil-over suspension and cat-back exhaust. All under Mazda warranty. He has been servicing my car since day #1. I now have 92, 000 miles on my car and enjoy driving it just as much as the day I bought it. The car and service has been hassle free.. I was glad to see him promoted to service manager a few years ago. He has great knowledge of the cars and enjoys working with people. Torben and his service team are probable the main reason I still have my MazdaSpeed3. Thanks, More
Oil changes at the dealer are more expensive and take longer than the local Jiffy Lube, but Torben is very attentive and provides regular updates regarding the status of my vehicle. The waiting room is longer than the local Jiffy Lube, but Torben is very attentive and provides regular updates regarding the status of my vehicle. The waiting room is comfortable, has excellent coffee, and allowed me to get a good amount of work done while I waited. More
I had done business with Duval Mazda exclusively for a few years with just basic oil changes etc. Just last month my car had trouble so I brought it in to Duval Mazda. Luckily I got a call from Kevin few years with just basic oil changes etc. Just last month my car had trouble so I brought it in to Duval Mazda. Luckily I got a call from Kevin saying the problems were covered under the extended warranty. When the car was ready I got a call from Kevin stating I could pick up the car... Once I pay. Since when is a companies policy to say they will honor a warranty only to require you to pay in full before leaving the dealership? Condescendingly, Kevin stated that he would go against company policy just to make me happy. My experience with Kevin goes beyond these passive-aggressive statements. In short I have never been forced to jump through so many hoops as I have with Kevin. Nor have I found myself feeling so frustrated in dealing with a customer service writer. In fact I'vea often found my experience with service writers to be very accommodating and pleasant. The exception is with Duval Mazda. Roughly a month later I brought the car in for an oil change and to get some noises checked out. Their suggestions led to a "would be" over $3000.00 in repairs. I declined, got a second opinion from a local and trusted mechanic who... Looked at all the issues that were brought up from Duval Mazda. serpentine belt tensioner, fuel pump: lock ring and gasket: catalyst thermostat Not a single one of these needed repair. Instead he truncated the noise I've been hearing to the AC compressor work they did a month ago. Oh... And he added some fuel injector cleaner. Initially I brought it to Duval Mazda due to it's proximity to my workplace and my belief that a certified Mazda mechanic and the professionalism of the employees of a dealership would yield a better end result. Having a better running car a positive experience and I'd be more confident in the work. I was gravely mistaken and will never place a foot in there again. An hour after I left the dealership my rear driver side tire was flat. It was only a week or so after my extended warranty ran out and after Duval Mazda performed work on my car that this $3000.00 in repairs was "required" Poor customer service, shoddy repairs, questionable ethics and the number of odd "coincidences" that occurred after having them service my car mean that I will never put my foot in there again. My mechanic has diagnostic equipment, years of experience and is someone who puts his heart in his work. He is reliable and trustworthy I only wish I stuck with him throughout. If price, integrity, common courtesy, respect and the condition of your car mean anything to you... Avoid this place. More

I moved away from Jacksonville in April of 2012 and left my favorite service and sales department. Duval Mazda sold me my 2010 Mazda 3 and serviced it for the first ~2 years and 30k miles. It was a truly pleasurable experience from the time I stepped foot on the lot to buy my 3 to the multiple times I came in for service. Duval Mazda is the cream of the crop of Jacksonville Mazda dealerships. Sales was fantastic from start to finish. Service took on from the time I drove off the lot. Torbin the service manager runs a tight ship and makes your service experience a true gem. I will say service here does take some time (1.5 hours for an oil change+rotation) however you will know it is done correctly. This is bar none the best dealer service department I have been to. They do work correctly and use the proper fluids (made the mistake of taking my car to Tom Bush Mazda and they put 5W-30 oil in my car that recommends 5W-20.....even after I asked them that they use 5W-20). The service department here will take care of you. Duval Mazda will make sure your Mazda is in top operating condition. I have moved to Atlanta and miss Duval Mazda tremendously. I bought a new 2010 Mazda6 from this dealer in June 2010. Thanks to my husbands extensive research we got the car I wanted at a great price. We went in knowing what we wanted and when we shared it, our requests were met with a positive attitude and friendly service (as one would expect when a large sale is on the line). The whole process took about 4 hours. I love the car. That's the only great part about this place. The service department is seriously lacking in customer service skills. I've been in a handful of times for routine maintenance, a recall inspection and minor cosmetic repairs just after driving the car off the lot. Each visit is worst than the last. Several people pass by as you wait to be assisted. There's clearly no interest in getting you in and out fast or efficiently. Until the Service dept is motivated to do their jobs - they've lost all my business. I plan to use another dealer when it's time to trade. More
It is interesting dealing with service with them. Everytime I bring my car in they tell me the tires on my car need to be replaced as well as the transmission fluid is dark. To see if I was out of c Everytime I bring my car in they tell me the tires on my car need to be replaced as well as the transmission fluid is dark. To see if I was out of control on my thoughts , my neighbor also has a Mazda and he brought his car in on Saturday and my car in Monday and low and behold they both had the same issues! The transmission fluid was dark and needed to be changed. Just thought we would share that with everyone. Otherwise they are very friendly people. More
Duval Mazda has one of the best service departments I have ever visited. The service manager Torben and service advisors Kevin and Justin take very good care of the customers. Prices are very reasonabl have ever visited. The service manager Torben and service advisors Kevin and Justin take very good care of the customers. Prices are very reasonable and the quality of work is excellent. I purchased my Mazda 3 from Sharon back in July 2010 from this dealership and the sales experience was just as positive as the service experience. Duval Mazda has me as a customer for life. More
I experienced many problems with this dealership under the old management and had completely sworn off Duval Mazda for good. Since the new management team has taken over there has been a 110% improvement the old management and had completely sworn off Duval Mazda for good. Since the new management team has taken over there has been a 110% improvement in customer service and overall experience. I visited the dealership that day for an oil change and left with a brand new car. Claussen, Ranae Bratcher, and David Baker treated me like I was the most important customer and did everything they could to make up for every bad experience I had in the past. They were very honest and thorough and I am very pleased with how everything was handled. I highly recommend doing business with them! More
First, in reading these reviews it has surprised me to see how the quality has markedly improved within the past year. Obviously, someone who cares is now in charge and I hope it continues. Now, as for see how the quality has markedly improved within the past year. Obviously, someone who cares is now in charge and I hope it continues. Now, as for my experience. I've never been to a dealership to buy, much less to get service. I always went to a chain repair shop. But when my check engine light came on I decided to see the pros. I scheduled an appointment for service online and asked a few questions. Within hours I got a reply with answers (and price quotes) for everything from Kevin. When I showed up, I was on guard for upsells and unnecessary suggestions. What I got was far from that: They diagnosed my light, found the problem (much cheaper than I feared), and here's the kicker...the work was scheduled to take longer than the service dept was open. Instead of telling me I was outta luck, Kevin arranged to have the mechanic finish the work (Saturday evening) and due to an issue with the parts department being closed, he took my payment information by phone. I was able to pick up the car at 7pm on Saturday and the charge was done Monday morning, only after Kevin called and confirmed the work was okay with me. WOW! No extras, no pressure, and everything was to accommodate ME, not the dealership. They even WASHED MY CAR for free (which makes me laugh, as I'm a bit embarrassed to have brought it in so dirty!) Well, a week later, the light came back. Kevin had me come back in and they spent an hour more on it. Nothing was found and the light was reset again. All of this was free of charge to me and again, a totally friendly experience. I now have (or will have) all my work done here, as long as Kevin's running the show. A month later, I decided to have my brakes done due to squealing. Again, they checked everything out and suggested the least-expensive option instead of insisting I needed the whole thing done. Unfortunately, this time it was a little worse - I was told an hour and a half and it ended up being 4 hours (I was waiting at the dealership the entire time). I understand, it was Saturday and they were busy. Kevin gave me status updates which helped, as I admit I was getting testy as each hour ticked by. Still, it was a better experience than anything I'd ever had at the Chain Store Which Shall Remain Unnamed. I rated them a 4 on price because, well, dealerships will ALWAYS be pricier than chains but because I wasn't gouged and because Kevin accepted the coupons from the dealer's website it wasn't toooo painful. As a side note, while I was waiting for the brake job (yep, all 4 hours), I spent a while looking at the new Mazda3's in the showroom. I was prepared for the sharks, I mean salesmen, to pounce. Instead, one friendly lady asked if I needed help and I explained I was waiting on my car to be serviced. However, the overall vibe was relaxed and I got a good feeling being there. When I am ready to buy my next car, hopefully in a few months, I plan to go to Duval Mazda FIRST. Thanks to these reviews, I now know who to deal with =) More
