Bought an A4 Avant, it is dead 8 months later. I guess technically the dealer can't predict the future of every car that they sell, but less than 8 months after buying a 2007 A4 Avant Quattro, it I guess technically the dealer can't predict the future of every car that they sell, but less than 8 months after buying a 2007 A4 Avant Quattro, it had a cam tensioner failure and destroyed the top end of the engine. I drove from St. Augustine to Tampa, to buy a car for my family, based on their stock and reputation. I picked a one owner car, that had a Car Fax showing that it had been maintained at an Audi dealer since it was bought new. I continued to maintain the car at a dealer. I was careful to pick a quality wagon for my family, with a well documented background, from a reputable dealer. I was careful about oil changes and maintenance. In less than 8 months, we have a catastrophic engine failure while decelerating to a stop light. Now, the car that I was so excited to buy from Hillsboro Auto sits in my driveway, in the hopes that I can save enough for a used engine and labor to install it. It doesn't even have a trade-in value anywhere. I am torn because I know that I could have bought a warranty. On the other hand, 8 months of highway driving and I have a dead car. It puts a very bad taste in my mouth. Moral of the story, if you are going to buy a higher end car brand from a used car dealer that really wants nothing to do with the car after the sale, please buy the warranty. It may save a lot of expense and grief for your family. More
