Drove to Hickory from Charlotte due to poor experience and prices from every dealership in town. I lost faith in buying from a dealer until I met the guys at Hickory Used Car. Lance made the experience very easy and hassle free. We were able to do all the negotiating over the phone so all we had to do at the dealership was sign the papers. I was shopping online for a car, and decided to put down a deposit to hold a car at this dealership so I could come look at it. I had the hold on the car for less than a day, and decided that I wanted to go a deposit to hold a car at this dealership so I could come look at it. I had the hold on the car for less than a day, and decided that I wanted to go another route on purchasing a car, and called the dealership and told them I was no longer interested in the car. They threatened to keep the money I put down for the hold if I did not come look at the car so I was forced into driving a long distance to look at the car. After inspecting the car, I found many scratches and dings on it and decided not to purchase to car. I requested my deposit back, and they claimed they would reimburse my money. I checked my account and saw that my money was back in there, but several days later after doing that I was using my check card to pay for a meal and my waiter told me my card got declined. I looked at my online bank statement, and saw that the dealership charged me again for the deposit! I tried calling the dealership to get it straightened out, but the person I got in touch with there was uncooperative. I then called my bank and went through the process of getting my money back. Immediately after getting it back, I closed my account in fear of the dealership taking more money from me. I was not angry about being threatened about not getting my money back, because I made a verbal commitment to come look at the car, but I became angry when I did not get my deposit back. I would advise finding a different dealership to do business with, because my one experience with them was horrible. More
Mr. David Parsons was an exceptional salesman and tremendous help. He helped me from initial phone call about the vehicle I was interested in until I finally found the dealership. It was a pleasure working with Brian Lackey and Robert Evanega. They were very polite, professional and easy to work with. By far the best car buying experience I have had. Even after the sale, they made sure I was happy with my purchase. I have no doubt if I needed anything they would do what they could. I will defiantly shop here again. The only thing I would change next time, it will be my FIRST stop. More
My wife and I recently purchased a 2006 Lexus GX470 from the Hickory Used Car Superstore. We found the vehicle on-line and called into the store to make sure it was on the lot. Brian Lackey assured us it the Hickory Used Car Superstore. We found the vehicle on-line and called into the store to make sure it was on the lot. Brian Lackey assured us it was there. We drove to the lot and waited a few minutes for the car to get there. We were informed they were putting some gas in it. Brian was very friendly and not overly aggressive with the sales pitch. Overall it was a low pressure sales experience. We took the vehicle on a test drive and noticed it started to vibrate at high speeds. They assured me it could be fixed. They took a look at our trade-in and we started doing the numbers. We went back and forth and accepted their third offer. We felt like it was a good deal. They do have a $500 dealer fee that they add on to the total! This seems a bit too much and is one reason I didn't give them a great rating. We worked out a We Owe for them to repair the shaking at high speeds and to replace a cracked reflector on the rear bumper(this was done a few days later at their service center). We got a good loan and signed the papers. Brian helped us move our stuff out of the trade-in and into our GX. I don't think Brian did this on purpose, but he did tell us after we signed the papers that this V8 engine only takes Premium gas. Probably not a deal breaker since my wife only drives a few miles to work, but something good to know prior to purchasing. Overall it was a good car buying experience. More
