A hail damage estimate coordinated by Darrell in the Hewlett’s collision center turned out to be a total loss claim. My insurance company’s policies made the situation difficult. Our intentions were Hewlett’s collision center turned out to be a total loss claim. My insurance company’s policies made the situation difficult. Our intentions were to replace our 2019 Atlas with a 2025 Atlas. Darrell and his management got together salesman Jay Wilson, his management and their general management to deal with the insurance issues and their impact on us to give us what we feel is a very fair deal on our new Atlas. We took delivery yesterday of our fifth car purchase from Hewlett. One Buick and now four VWs working with Jay. Jay, Darrell and the Hewlett team take customer care seriously. More
Took one of our TDi’s here for a timing belt and DSG service. It was close to work and the convenience of their shuttle service persuaded me to roll the dice. The service consultant sent me an estimat service. It was close to work and the convenience of their shuttle service persuaded me to roll the dice. The service consultant sent me an estimate that looked like it was typed on a blank word document, void of any information aside from the total price (which I was fine with). It wasn’t until I picked it up and went over the invoice that I noticed what they did, or rather didn’t do. They didn’t replace the water pump, nor did they replace the DSG filter ($29 OE/$13 OE equivalent & about 15 minutes of additional labor - which I did the following weekend. They make more charging 1 hour labor for a $400 drain and fill which takes about 15 minutes with a Mightyvac ). I’m not mad at the flat rate hustle, but had they informed me they were going to perform a drain and fill I would have laughed and declined. It’s like changing your engine oil and not replacing the filter. It only makes sense to flat rate techs and your lazy neighbor. A&P technician with over 20 years in the industry and there’s not a single scenario where you would replace a timing belt without also replacing the timing belt driven water pump. Customer service was pretty poor when I questioned why neither were done. The service writer just shrugged it off and said “because you didn’t specifically state you wanted them replaced.” I was merely trying to understand how the service consultant didn’t know it needed a water pump, how the technician didn’t recommend a water pump, and how the parts department sold a timing belt “kit” without a water pump. I called their parts department to ask how they put together their timing belt “kits” for technicians and the parts guy almost didn’t believe me when I explained it to him. The average consumer expects factory level service when going to a dealership and thus are willing to pay a premium in labor and parts costs. I’m sure this dealer is fine for certain repairs and warranty work. Don’t make my same mistake because of convenience though. There are too many local shops that specialize in TDi’s and know exactly what needs to be replaced without you holding their hand through the process, and leaving you with a timing belt job that has be redone. In all fairness after some back and forth with their service manager, he did apologize and offer to eat the labor and replace the water pump if I paid for it at an additional cost of roughly $400. He informed me that they were too busy and I would need to wait until they slow down (because that’s exactly how you handle comebacks), and I would need to call back at a later date to schedule it (wrong answer). However, there’s no chance I’d ever give them anymore money (plus I live over an hour away). Instead, I’ve opted to wait until the water pump ultimately fails (long before the new timing belt) and buy the cam locking tool and VCDS and do it myself, which is what I should have done in the first place. I know they will respond and counter me with VW recommendations about not needing a transmission filter replacement during servicing, which is par the course. They aren’t responsible for replacement outside of warranty, they just need it to last long enough to not be their problem. Engineers being wrong is the very reason professions like ours exist. It has a filter for a reason Tom. More

I purchased my 2024 brand new Atlas Cross Sport in late August 2024. A few months after my brakes started making a horrific squealing and grinding noise when braking. After bringing it in, I was told that August 2024. A few months after my brakes started making a horrific squealing and grinding noise when braking. After bringing it in, I was told that its a known issue and that the brake pads VW uses causes a glaze to build up on the rotars. I was told to drive my car fast and brake heavily 4 or 5 times to heat and scale the glaze off. Aftwr research I have found that this is a consistent issue among these vehicles that VW (and i would assume...VW dealerships know about)I attempted to contact Hewlett and have twice now been denied a reasonable fix to the situation. I offered to buy top of the line brake pads to replace the OEM defective ones but have asked that the dealership put them on and resurface the rotars (to get the glaze off) however I have been denied with no other attempt made to solve the situation. I was quite literally told to wait for VW to potentially send a recall notice, though no potential time fram could be given. I realize that Hewlett VW is not to blame for the part, but was hoping they would be reasonable and meet me half way with the brake pad change idea. At this point and time I would NOT recommend this dealership to anyone, simply due to their inability to try and work with me to solve an issue I shouldn't have in the first place. The brake noise is highly embarrassing and certainly isn't a good look for the brand. More
I posted a review about this dealership and the issues I was having with my brakes. The dealer accused me of pointing out and using multiple names for negative reviews. He did not defendThe issue that was having with my brakes. The dealer accused me of pointing out and using multiple names for negative reviews. He did not defendThe issue that the brakes were never fixed, nor did he address the problem that I was having he was just personally upset that somebody would call him out. Since he claimed that I had made a review on this particular website, he was lying cause I had not, but since he gave me the address, I thought I would. There is another review about another atlas posted here, an atlas sport and they were having problems with their brakes as well, never addressed, never fixed The dealership commented that I had multiple negative reports well, let me tell you this Mr. dealer, I expect a level of service. I suppose you want us to tip your service riders as well. I would give you a tip, do your job well and you’ll get more positive reviews. Your answer demonstrates the exact reason that I filed a complaint and I don’t take my time telling people how great businesses are because there are enough of lackeys out there that will post fictitious reviews generally paid by the company they’re posting for to talk about how great they are If you’re good, word will get around Most people wanna know the issues so that they can look into correcting the issues and question, but not your dealership. So let me say this again, after only 18 months I sold my atlas with a sticker price slightly under $60,000 and purchased an expedition With attitudes like yours, it clearly demonstrates the way people have been treated Thank you Tom Fornshell Service and Parts Director for Hewlett You clearly demonstrated why I made the right decision in selling my Volkswagen and in posting the review only on yelp and Google, but thanks to you. It’s now on dealer rater I wouldn’t bother replying to this if I was you it’s just simply another example of when you have an upset customer you care less and given that I wonder how many of those reviews that are good reviews for your company was bought and paid for by your dealership? Just a question now go out and sell some more junk to some more people More
