I am glad that others seem to have had a good experience with Herb Gordon Nissan's service department - I'm afraid mine has been quite the opposite. I bought a 2015 LEAF from this dealer new. They claim with Herb Gordon Nissan's service department - I'm afraid mine has been quite the opposite. I bought a 2015 LEAF from this dealer new. They claim to have service technicians trained in EV maintenance, but I've been very disappointed every time I've taken my car in. I have repeatedly found their coordinators and service technicians to be slow, inefficient, and generally not seem to know what they were doing. About a year ago, I had my car in because of a problem with upgrading of the Nissan EV app from 3G to 4G. The person in charge of my case kept making every excuse in the world about why the technicians had not been able to get the information I needed to make the app work. They kept my car for 2 weeks while "researching" the problem. After numerous calls and visits, the service manager told me everything was fixed and I picked the car up. It wasn't fixed: By accident I stumbled upon the fact that they were using the wrong version of the app - something no one in the service department managed to be able to tell me - supposedly after extensive research on the subject. More recently time I brought in my LEAF, my case was handled - again poorly - by the same service coordinator. The first thing he did was tell me I would need to pay $160 for a diagnosis - downloading the computer codes from the engine. I authorized that. The service department then came back with an enormous list of things they said needed to be done, to the tune of about $10,000. We took the car to an independent mechanic who has worked on other cars for us. He told us that about half of what the dealer recommended wasn't necessary and fixed the rest for about 40% of what HG wanted to charge us. When we had questions early on about the heating system - which seemed as if it wasn't blowing hot air on the front driver's side of the compartment, they couldn't explain what was wrong or check any specs - instead they told me that Nissan keeps all information about these systems fairly secret - apparently even from their own technicians - and there was nothing they could do. When I noticed the dashboard meter meant to display remaining range of the car depending on battery charge would often drop suddenly by 20 miles and that its readings didn't seem to bear any relation to actual mileage, the salesman who sold me the car laughed and said something like, "Yeah, that's the famous Nissan guess-o-meter - everyone knows it doesn't work. Maybe newer models of the LEAF are better and maybe the service department is better at servicing traditional gasoline-engine cars, but although I very much like driving an all-electric car, I would hesitate to buy another LEAF from any dealer and I would never buy another car - or take another car to be serviced - at this one. More
