My Ram 1500 developed a loud ticking sound so took it to Hendrick. Shop diagnosed as bad exhaust manifold and replaced them for $2,400. That was not the cause; the noise persisted so I brought it back. Vehicle was in the shop for three more weeks to tear down the engine and determine the cause. Was told they were tearing it down. I called every two to three days trying to find out what the status of the tear down and diagnosis was but could not get an answer. Tried to be courteous and not overbearing. Gave them a day or two each time to get back to me, but not one phone call was returned by my service rep or his manager. Literally seven calls not returned. Mean time I am renting cars, Ubering, etc. to get around and had no idea what was going on with the vehicle. Finally went to the shop in person and was told the noise stopped and they couldn’t recreate it. They wanted to drive it some distance to see if it started again. They had not performed any tear down like they said they were doing. Was assured I would get an update on the driving test the next day. Next day the service rep did not call so I called and left a message. Went back to the shop in the afternoon since they would not return my calls. Was told a mechanic drove it home to do the distance testing. He had not shown up for work that day and no one could reach him. After an hour they finally found that my vehicle was actually at the shop, but they could not find my keys. More time passed and finally got my keys so I took the vehicle and got away from this xxxxxxxxx-show. There is more that I’m leaving out for brevity, but needless to say this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with vehicle repairs, and frankly any kind of service. Simply return a call. Do what you say you will do. Keep your customer informed even if there is not much to report. Keep up with the vehicles at your shop. Basic stuff. It pains me to give a bad review, but not only would I never take a vehicle to a Hendrick shop for repairs, I would never buy a car from Hendrick Auto Group after this experience. Truly disappointed.
