Formerly great ... Undone by blind quest for maximum profit Used to be a great dealership ... sales AND service. But somewhere between my first experience there (in 2005) and my recent purchase of a 2014 Accent Used to be a great dealership ... sales AND service. But somewhere between my first experience there (in 2005) and my recent purchase of a 2014 Accent (last year) something happened. My level of trust and assumed relationship with the place caused me to let my guard WAY down, and I got completely taken to the cleaner on the Accent purchase. (Great car, by the way. Just don't pay 150% of what you should!) - So I sit down to negotiate, and the VERY FIRST F***ING THING I SAY is, "Look, right out of the gate ... Don't try to sell me an extended warranty. OK? I DO NOT want any type of extended warranty." So he goes to write up an initial work up, and I see that the VERY FIRST F***ING THING HE DOES is add a two thousand dollar extended warranty. So, I of course speak up. His answer ... and it was given in one of those voices you use when you're making it up on the fly ... is to tell me that "my financer will give you a lower interest rate with the warranty, because it demonstrates lower risk to the lender." Yet, I was not shown the numbers with and without the two thousand dollar extended warranty. But I bought the car at the end of a long day, and the old blood sugar was dropping because the transaction was taking HOURS ... so no, I didn't think to ask. (The time was an issue because while I was working with the fellow writing up the financing, every flipping time he was interrupted, he disappeared with that person while I sat there for a half hour. No joke, I found out from a co-worker at one point that he'd actually gone to grab lunch during one of the "excuse me just a minute" departures!!!) Anyhow, I am as much to blame as them for ALLOWING myself to get taken advantage of. - Best part? They gave me five HUNDRED dollars on my Elantra as a trade - the SAME Elantra that they had fixed (twice) that year with repairs totaling 2,700 dollars! They KNEW every frickin' mechanical component was NEW because THEY did the work, and at a hefty price too. Or they could have told me a few months earlier, "Don't put three thousand into repairing it! We think it's only worth five HUNDRED bucks." - They at one time had, in me, a customer for life. Now, I won't go back. I mean, why bother? You just know the 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty they nicked me two thousand dollars for (the one I DID NOT WANT) will somehow find a way to say that there is actually very little located between the bumpers ... - PS - They get bonus idiot points for mailing people who just bought their car - FROM THEM, a few months ago! - mailings saying that it's time "to trade in that old car" and come in and talk to one of our salespeople about a new 2016 Hyundai. More
