I thought the days where car dealers would only talk to the “man of the house” were behind us, but not at Hazleton Honda. While pricing cars at different dealers, I left messages for the salesman and general manager. Neither one showed me the respect a customer deserves and called me back; my boyfriend (who is also in the market for a car) receive a call instead. I happened to be with my boyfriend when Hazleton Honda called him so I spoke with the salesman and was told that Hazleton Honda had the car I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. I made an appointment to see and drive the two that I was told were on their lot. We arrived at our stated time only to wait over 45 minutes to find out that both cars didn’t exist on their lot – I think they were hoping to sell me a more expensive car. As we were leaving we asked to speak with the general manager to express our displeasure for our time being wasted, when all of a sudden the general manager has cars available at another dealership. We decided to accept a car from the other location and started the paperwork – or so we thought. The general manager would not provide us with a Bill of Sale, he verbally went over all the charges we could expect. I explained to the general manager that I would register the car myself (since I live outside of PA); I didn’t want to pay the dealership $350 when I knew my the DMV fees in my state were much less than that. The general manager stated that he would only charge me the amount that my states DMV charged the dealership, no extra processing fees, so I agreed to pay the $350 because I was told I would get a full refund for any remaining balance not required to register the car. I asked for this to be put in writing and was told by the GM “my word is good, I don’t need to put it in writing”. My experience has always been that if someone won’t put their words into writing, then they are not telling the truth. That’s exactly what happened. I picked up the car the first week in January 2017 and received my registration paperwork from my local DMV by the end of January. I still have not received all of my refund for the over payment I was charged. I spoke with the general manger in early February requesting an update on my full refund and he proceeded to be extremely rude and insulting. My boyfriend and I have left several messages at the dealership and even stopped at the dealership requesting an update on the money we are owed, but still have not received any information, return telephone call or refund money. I love my Honda, but would not recommend anyone purchase from a dealership as dishonest as Hazleton Honda. More
