I was looking for a cheap used car and thought the only way I would find a bargain in my price range was to buy directly from the owner. For several days I searched classifieds within a 100 mile range of Fairmont and then would drive to look at the vehicles that sounded promising only to time and again come-away frustrated that I wasted so much time and gas to go look at what turned out to be peace of junk. On my way back from Albert Lea where I looked at a car (the owner said it was in excellent condition but it turned out that it had been in an accident and they only repaired (cheaply) the body without fixing the mechanical damages) so I swung into Hawkins since I was driving by and ended-up finding the bargain that I had been searching for -- only 6 blocks from home! Dale Splinter was the salesman who helped me and he was very pleasant as were all the people at Hawkins. Actually, that is an understatement: They were exceptionally friendly! I would have thought that since I was buying the cheapest car on the lot they would have been rather indifferent about the sale but they were friendly and thankful for our business -- giving us many 'extras' with the car which made the bargain car an even better bargain. More

On November 10, 2012 we purchased a 2008 Grand Prix GXP from Hawking Chevrolet in Fairmont, MN. Troy Sunken was great to work with, he made sure the car was washed and ready to go even before we arrived at from Hawking Chevrolet in Fairmont, MN. Troy Sunken was great to work with, he made sure the car was washed and ready to go even before we arrived at the dealership for a test drive. Troy sat us down to go over the cars history and the repairs that they recently had done. We left for a few hours to crunch some numbers and returned with a vehicle for a possible trade in. They were closing at 4:00 pm that day but Troy, Steve, and Tabitha stayed until we arrived back at the dealership. Steve checked out our possible trade in and we began crunching numbers again. Tabitha left for a short time but came back to the office to draw the paperwork up for us. Soon after we purchased our car we were driving home on I-90 and yes, we hit a deer. Just our luck, we buy a new car and wrecked it all within 30 minutes from leaving the dealership. Big Richards tow service came out to tow the car to Don’s Repair in Fairmont and was able to get ahold of Tom Hawkins who generously offered us a courtesy car, so that we could get home until we figured the details out on our newly wrecked car. Troy came back to the dealership to give us the keys to the courtesy car and even called on that Monday to see how things were going. When we are in the market for a new/used vehicle we will definitely being going back to Hawkins Chevrolet, in Fairmont because they truly do go the extra mile and we are truly Grateful for all their Generosity in helping us through our recent purchase and accident :) More
