Since we drove our 1998 F-150 off the lot in November, we have had nothing but MAJOR issues with this truck (literally on our way home we started hearing squealing). We purchased the truck for a little over 8k, and have put over 3k into repairs- most notably the driveline and the clutch. The guys working there were very accommodating, and friendly. I think they suffer from "used car salesmen" syndrome, where they promise the car is good, the "200 point inspection" that they talk up sounds great, but really they are a C-rate dealership selling sub-prime cars to people in need (we didn't have the best credit, so no legitimate dealerships would finance). On our test drive, we noticed some lag in the truck, which the salesperson attributed to "us not being used to driving a Ford." Turns out, there was some spark plug issues that had gone unfixed in their "inspection." This should have been a red flag, but we were desperate, and it has caused nothing but agony since. Lesson learned. If I were you, I would look elsewhere or if you are like us and had nowhere else to go- take the vehicle you are test driving to the nearest shop and get a once-over. We should have, and it will probably save you hundreds, if not THOUSANDS (and counting) in repairs, time lost from work and general annoyance. More
