Car shopping is never a fun experience, but Harr was by far been the most unpleasant to deal with. There are a number of frustrations I have with Harr, none of which the general manager cared to address other than to defend the bait and switch tactics of the dealership. My car shopping began when the service department installed a recalled water pump on my 2006 Prius incorrectly, which sent me in for a scare when all the hybrid system warning lights turned on. Their marketing ploy on new car sales was successful in getting me in the door, but when advertising a price of 1% over invoice to employees of a local workplace and the sales staff is unwilling to show the invoice to the customer, it only raises red flags. I'm sure I haven't been the first customer to ever ask for an invoice based on that advertised discount. After Nate's failed attempt at high pressure sales and continued communication via email with Luis, Derek arranged for me to return later that week to work on a better price for my trade. I received another email before my return to Harr that they were "no longer able to honor prices discussed because of the crisis in Japan. But they would be happy to sell me the vehicle at MSRP." Are you kidding?! Bottom line.. there is no disclaimer on the 1% over invoice advertised discount. So even if the price being discussed was lower, that 1% over invoice price should still have been honored. That wasn't the case. They can keep their Prius and play games with someone else. Very unprofessional and dishonest! More

I went to Harr Toyota knowing their great service and fair service. I worked with Richard Thomas and he went through numerous vehicles with me finding exactly what was in my price range while getting me fair service. I worked with Richard Thomas and he went through numerous vehicles with me finding exactly what was in my price range while getting me the best deal possible. I ended up buying a 2011 Rav4 and I absolutely love it. I was a NH resident buying in MA and had a number of extra steps I had to complete in order to have my car ready to drive on the road. Rich worked with me through every step and accommodated me when I had time to do so. Outstanding customer service, great deals, and a great vehicle. What more could you ask for in a dealer? I plan on bringing my aunt there to get a car as well. Highly recommended. More
After getting the 'hard sale' at a Boston-area dealer, I had a great experience here. They explained and broke down the costs of various accessories so it was clear what made sense. The entire sale experien had a great experience here. They explained and broke down the costs of various accessories so it was clear what made sense. The entire sale experience with Dominic was focused on service, not driving a sale, which was actually a much more effective sales technique. Highly recommended, and would definitely go back. More
I went in with my husband to purchase a used vehicle. The vehicle was for me. I did the test drive. I was the person applying for financing. I was the person who knew what I was willing to pay for the vehicle and what my trade in was worth. I was disappointment when many of the questions were directed towards my husband instead of me. I was frustrated that I was seen as the second person in the deal, not the person making the deal. My experience from there did not improve. I purchased the vehicle on a Sunday. Banks are closed, registry is closed and so are insurance companies. I understand this. I do not live close to the dealer. To make a trip back to get the registration and other paper work once everything was set would be a two commute. To eliminate me having to travel back I was told the papers would be sent overnight to me first thing Monday night after everything is done. I called my bank and insurance company on Thursday to see if everything was set. When they said yes, I called Harr to find out all my paper work was still with them, they hadn't sent it out yet. You have 7 DAYS to get a vehicle inspected after purchase. It will be Saturday by the time I get the papers, if I'm lucky. This means I won't get an inspection till Monday. Let's keep going on with the not so positive experience. When negotiating the price I was not able to get them to give me exactly what I wanted for my trade in. I decide to compromise for we agreed on the amount they would send the bank to pay-off my trade in. The amount we agreed upon and the amount they sent were not the same. What would have been little money coming back to me from the pay-off turned out to be nothing leaving me with not getting what I expected. More

This was an occasion where great service came from a salesman who went above and beyond. The evening of January 14, 2011 found my wife and her 2005 Toyota Prius stranded in a nearby, very cold Home Depo salesman who went above and beyond. The evening of January 14, 2011 found my wife and her 2005 Toyota Prius stranded in a nearby, very cold Home Depot parking lot unable to start the car. It was 6 pm, I was incapacitated and the Harr service Dept. was closed. My call into the Harr Toyota sales Dept. was taken by Derek Houde, Sales Manager that evening. Derek was kind enough to jump in his own car, drive over and help my wife get the car started. He then called me on his cell phone to let me know that all was well. The world would be a much better place if there were more Derek Houdes around. More
My husband and I visited Harr but we went to the loan express that is connected with them. Basically they give auto loans to those with credit problems. We had some issues about 2 years ago that affected express that is connected with them. Basically they give auto loans to those with credit problems. We had some issues about 2 years ago that affected our credit and although it was slowly inching back up we still did not have stellar credit, or so we thought. Anyway we went there and right of the bat we felt as though these people were treating us as lesser humans because we had bad credit. Anyway we went into their little trailer and sat down and talked about what we were looking for. The car they showed us was not what we wanted. Fortunately we saw a nice camry right next to what they were trying to sell us. That seemed to fit our needs. Family size and only had 16k miles on it. The price they had on it was a little over 16k. So we asked if we could test drive it but for some reason they could not find the keys. So they offered us a test drive in another camry. We took the car out and we liked how it drove. This particular vehicle had more miles on it then the other but we still wanted to test drive the car we would think of buying. After the test drive they sat us down and pretty much wanted us to buy the car under the assumption that it would drive the same if not better then the one we drove. Im sorry but if we are going to sign up for a 16k loan we do not want to make any assumptions. So the sales guy went to see his manager and they worked up some numbers and came back to us with this crazy offer. No money off the car, I mean none, and to boot they wanted a 12% interest rate for 6 years. We said no! So the manager said what do we have to do to make this work and get you to buy this car? My husband and I thought, well a test drive in the car would be a great start but your numbers just do not work. Needless to say I just dint feel right so I walked out. They continued to talk to my husband and he came out to tell me they are going to call a favor in to the bank and they can get 2k knocked off and lower our rate. I told my husband at this point if they offered the car for 1k I still would not buy it. So we left. The next day Pat called us and asked if we still wanted the car. I told him my husband was at work and that we would think about going back and that we would call him. Tuesday I called him back and told him we would like to go in and take the car on a test drive. Mind you we were willing to go back because we felt our credit was tarnish so we were forced to work with this type of dealership. So we get there and they see us and make no attempt to greet us. So we said hi Pat we are here for that car and he says oh yeah, that car is out right now on a test drive. So we wait for the people who supposedly have the car to come back. Ten minutes later he says, yeah they are back and they are sitting down to talk about it. So we wait another 10 minutes and Pat comes back and tells us the deal looks like is going through but they have other cars with higher mileage they can get us in. At this point Im looking at my husband thinking, if he knew we were comming why dint he set the car aside for us? It felt as though it was all contrived. Needless to say we left. On our way home we stopped by another dealership, Bertera Chevy, and we saw a nice '09 Volvo S40 with only 15k miles on it. We took it for a test drive and loved it. We felt like we really wanted this car but that we could not afford it because we more then likely would have a huge rate. They took our application, worked the numbers and came back with a 7% rate. We were like, what? They showed us our Fico and it was a 718. Which is not Great but its not bad either. They also gave us the 5 start treatment. They got us coffee and they were extremely friendly. In the end we feel that Loan Express banks on its customers feeling they have a bad score and they hose you on it!! My advice, stay away from them, do your homework and do not ever underestimate yourself. There are more places out there that are reputable and honest and willing to work with you no matter what. More
