We started a relationship with Jesse Cook and Charles Barker Toyota back in January 2010 when we purchased my wife's 2009 Venza. This Saturday, we purchased our second Venza - a 2012 - from Jesse Cook a Barker Toyota back in January 2010 when we purchased my wife's 2009 Venza. The reason why is because we feel like family at Charles Barker and we TRUST Jesse and Charles Barker Toyota. That very afternoon, I brought my daughter in to see Jesse and she bought a new Toyota Camry because she was so impressed with Jesse and with the Charles Barker dealership. In my mind, if every dealership made the car-buying experience like this, people would feel a lot better about bying a car from a dealership. Charles Barker Toyota is simply exceptional and their method of doing business and the way that they treat their customers is the way it should be done. Jesse Cook has earned our complete TRUST and he is our family's "car guy." Charles Barker Toyota is our car dealership and as long as Jesse and Charles Barker stay together, I do not intend to purchase another vehicle anywhere else as long as I live here in Virginia Beach. The Chares Barker "after the sale" experience is every bit as satisfying. Their maintenance department is OUTSTANDING and every time my wife has had to bring her car in for service, she has been completely happy and I do not have to worry that she is being taken advantage of or that the dealership is pressuring her to have additional work done merely to generate additional revenue. That is part of the TRUST that characterizes the realtonship we have with Jesse Cook and Charles Barker Toyota. It equates to peace of mind and a satisfying ownership experience and it is what made us come back this Saturday and purchase not one, but two vehicles from Jesse and Charles Barker Toyota. In my opinion, you won't find a better experience anywhere in Hampton Roads. My wife says that her Venza is the absolute best car she has ever owned and my daughter can't wait to take delivery of her new Camry. Our initial contact with Josh in internet sales was positive. In general, there was insufficient communication during the process. When we called during business hours, the regular sales associate seemed to be never there or never available. Almost all communication was by voicemail and in my opinion that is unacceptable. Had the sales person advised us about available warranties, we would have chosen a different and more preferred interior color option. Warranties were only discussed once the car was ordered (with optional upgrades) and in the lot with no option to swap for another available vehicle. There did not seem to be any benefit in being a repeat new car and maintenance customer at this dealership. I did appreciate the dealership working with us on financing. The final vehicle pick up took almost 3 long hours when we were told it would last an hour to an hour and a half tops. Warranty options could have been discussed anytime during the initial sales discussion or during the weeks we had to wait for the car to arrive at the dealership. More

Our experience with Charles Barker Toyota was AWESOME!!!! She was actually at the dealership and available on 3 different occasions when we dropped in unannounced and she gave us her full attention. When we decided to buy the car (Toyota Avalon Ltd), she was able to work with us on a price we felt was more than fair which meant they ended up increasing what they would give us on our trade-in. We did not have to haggle. I would rate our overall experience as excellent. More

Chas. Barker is really "on the ball". We were looking for a Highlander Hybrid and shopped other dealers and were told we had to order one and the wait was 3 months. Disappointed that it was not the model we wanted...Chris suggested that we create our veicle from this one---adding our "must-haves"---and by 11PM we had our vehicle purchased. As we left the dealer we discussed what a hassle-free, easy process it was. Each person who helped us was friendly, helpful and listened to us--rather than pressuring us to make the decision. We have found ourselves a new dealership! More
