Military Beware! ! This is the 2nd dealership I have dealt with in the last three 3 weeks that is just plain rude. I would take my business else where if I were you. ! This is the 2nd dealership I have dealt with in the last three 3 weeks that is just plain rude. I would take my business else where if I were you. I asked for numbers over the phone because the dealership is 2 hours from me. I was told that is not how they do business. So I locked in an appointment for noon on the 7th of May for a car that they had. They needed to see my trade to give me an honest number, which is all fine and dandy. But I told the salesman that I was reluctant to drive 2 hours to the dealership because what if a deal couldn’t be made, and then I have the drive 2 more hours home, and put unnecessary miles on my car for nothing. Well guess what happened I ended up driving 4 hours for nothing for them to not even look at my car. Even when I insisted look at it so that if something becomes available we have that part of the deal complete. They refused to so I got up and left with nothing to show for it even though I was told we would make this happen. On top of this they sold the car I was coming down for before I even got down there. I believe this was the scheme all along because when we got there the salesman was trying to up sell us to a Volvo. I was also told the sales manager told my salesman man to not waste his time on my deal because I was reluctant on the drive down. Every military member knows that your time is precious, I could have spent the wasted time with my kids at home instead I wasted an unprofessional joke of a dealership. Again don’t waste your time on their mark ups, rudeness, and egotistical attitudes. More
On March 29 I contact the dealership about a specific car. I was told they had to put me off till the 30th because they were closing soon. Salesperson told me someone else was coming to see said car on t car. I was told they had to put me off till the 30th because they were closing soon. Salesperson told me someone else was coming to see said car on the 30th. I ask what I could do to secure the car that night. Salesperson said he wouldn’t stay and wait for me. Salesperson said not to worry he would work it first thing on the 30th. I told him I wouldn’t get my hopes up. I am a car salesman/manager. I know how dealerships work. At 9:08am on the 30th, I inquired on the status as the salesman said he was one of the first people there and I hadn’t heard from him. Was told by salesman he was working on it. By noon, no word. At 3pm, salesman text and said he failed to secure car that he was “unable” to secure it for me and would not be able to proceed AFTER they pulled a hard inquiry on my credit. They should not have pulled my credit unless the car was available as I was very car specific on a 2 door convertible. I was told on March 29th the MX-5 was available. This dealer was not willing to work with me on the 29th yet pulled my credit anyway! Very unhappy with the experience and unprofessional treatment. I was able to quickly get approved next door and took home a new MX-5 from them, instead. VW is not willing to put in any extra time or effort for you. Go elsewhere. More
Absolutely appalling customer service. Found over charges that I as the customer had to correct. Absolutely no attempts to make major problems and inconveniences easier for customer. Ca Found over charges that I as the customer had to correct. Absolutely no attempts to make major problems and inconveniences easier for customer. Car was on lot waiting for a part for over 4 months. When I finally picked up the car today, A/C was not working correctly, immediately went back to dealership and was told a part was needed and would cost $200 to fix. This was after waiting four months for a repair that cost over $3300. All four months, the car sat on lot, I received updates only if I called Plan to establish customer complaint case with corporate office. Lousy service from all levels of management at dealership. Completely disgusted in Daytona More
After reading reviews of this dealership’s service department’s lack of communication, I was able to experience it first hand multiple times. Service Department I dropped of my car for a heater department’s lack of communication, I was able to experience it first hand multiple times. Service Department I dropped of my car for a heater core replacement early for a Wednesday appointment. I was told it would take a couple of days to replace, called on Friday morning multiple times as each phone number and option just rang out. I was finally able to get a hold of someone to ask for an update as I had not heard from the service department. I was told that the service manager was with a customer and would call me back, after not hearing back after multiple hours, I called back at 4pm. I was told he was with a customer and would call back. The service department closes at 6pm and was still with no update so I called back at 5:30. I was finally able to get a hold of the service advisor who then told me they were trying to get the car completed but needed to order another part and would be another week for the part to come in. I asked if they had a loaner car, which they did not have. The new part finally came in on a Monday. They did not start working on in until Tuesday afternoon. I called on Wednesday for a status update and again was told the service advisor was with a customer but would call me back. After no call back I called on Thursday and was able to talk to another service advisor. He went and talked to the service tech who said it was not yet ready that the part would need to be installed and road tested. Finally on Friday, again without receiving a call, I called the service department and was then told that the car is ready. In all it took 3 weeks to repair my car with no loaner and no communication from them personally. When I got to the dealership, they notified me that a dash panel was damaged when reinstalling and would have to be ordered. The panel came in and I made an appointment for it to be installed. I brought the car in for the part to be installed which I was told would take an hour. Unfortunately at no fault to the service department the new panel was not molded correctly and it could not be installed. They informed me that they would have to order another panel. A week later the new panel came in, I was then told it would take 2 hours to install. I made the appointment for first thing 7:30am and dropped my car off the night before hoping they would be able to work on it first thing so that I could pick it up at noon. I did not receive a call that the car was complete by 4pm. I again had to call the service department to see if my car was ready. I was able to speak to the service receptionist who spoke to the service advisor who said it would be ready in about an hour. So even though I had an 7:30am appointment they didn’t even start working on my car until at least 3pm. I picked up my car car that evening to find a 1 foot crease in my dash board where they must have used a board to press down on to connect the dash panels. Sales/Finance Department When I purchased the car I paid for the title/registration and the fees to process. I was given a temporary plate until I received my permanent plate. The temporary plate expired in 30 days, in which I never received the plate during that time. When I was in to pick up my car from the service department. I tried to speak to someone as I had not received my permanent plate yet. I was directed to the sales manager who said the state is sending them next day air and I would have it by Monday. Monday came and still no plate. At this time, my temporary plate is now expired by 2 days. I called the dealership on Tuesday and was told to contact Finance as they do the plates. First time they transferred me the call dropped, so I called back and was transferred to the finance department where I received their voicemail. I left a message with the them that I had not received my plate and would like a call back to discuss the next steps. I did not receive a call back, so I called and received their voicemail again. So, I emailed the State registration/plate email address and they replied that only the temporary plate was filed and no permanent plate was ever processed by the dealership. So on Wednesday I called finance to let them know that my plate had not been processed and again received their voicemail. I called back immediately after but this time requesting sales in which I was able to speak with a sales associate. He said he would check with the finance department and call me back. The gentleman called me back within 10 minutes and told me to come in for a new temporary plate. After they actually processed this I was able to obtain my license plate. It was a great experience when purchasing my car but everything moving forward from there had been terrible in regards to communication. They are difficult to get a hold of and do not call back when promised. More
Jared Naegeli was a pleasure to work with. He was genuinely friendly and professional. Gave us an amazing deal on the vehicle we chose. Would highly recommend anyone to work with him. In this case, I waited one month before writing my review to “cool down” and make sure that my review would be fair and stick to the facts. Did Gunther VW take advantage of me? I will present the facts and let you decide. I have owned cars for 40 years. I now own a Volkswagen Eos 2012. I have always had it serviced at the Volkswagen dealer in my hometown in NYS, and have always been fully satisfied with the service there. While in Florida this summer, the air conditioning suddenly stopped working. This symptom was typical of what happens when an AC unit gets low on refrigerant, so I brought my car to Gunter for a diagnostic. Three hours later, they told me that adding refrigerant did not fix the problem, and that I needed a new AC compressor. The AC controller was powering the compressor, but the compressor clutch did not work. This was hard to believe because (check it online) a damaged AC compression is supposed to make a xxxx of a noise when the AC is turned on, and I had heard absolutely zero noise whatsoever in this regard. But, I gave them benefit of the doubt, and agreed to the repair (mainly because time was of the essence, leaving no other option). They told me I had to pay $1023 ahead of time for the part because they did not have it in stock and it had to be special ordered. It took a week for the part to get there. While waiting, out of curiosity, I found the same part on a VW OEM parts website, significantly cheaper than what Gunther quoted me, but I did not make a fuss out of it as it was too late to do anything about it. After they received the part, I dropped my car on a Friday, for them to install the new AC compressor. As I had not heard back from them by end of day, I called to ask what was going on. They told me they would have to keep the car overnight because no power was reaching the unit, even though (strangely) there had been power going to the damaged compressor before. They “had to figure out the cabling problem,” so they needed to do more troubleshooting. I called them up again by the end of the day on Saturday, because I had not received any update during the day, and they told me that they only had one technician on staff on Saturdays because they pretty much only did oil changes on those days, and he had been too busy between oil changes to spend enough time with my car to figure out the problem. On the Monday I gave them another call because I had not received any update. They told me that it was a very difficult wiring problem, that they still had not figured it out, and that they would keep me posted. Later that week, they eventually called me to inform me that they had called Volkswagen to get help to figure out the wiring issues, and that the problem was that the AC controller in the dashboard was not sending power to the compressor and had to be replaced, and that it would be an additional $800 for that part (plus labor) to replace. This was a part that (again) they did not have in stock and had to order. It took another week. They kept my car the whole time. I specifically requested to get the old AC controller back when the repair was done (Florida law allows customers to get the defective parts back if requested). Again, they did not call me to tell me that the repair was complete; I had to call them up to confirm that the repair was completed and the car was ready for pickup (14 days after it was dropped off). Back home, I found out that they had not left the old AC controller in the trunk, and I had to drive back there to get it. In the end, it cost me $2333! For this one-month saga, two weeks without my car, the high total cost of the repair, the strange explanations received (that I too often had to chase), and the suspicion that technician competency was not what I would have expected from a VW dealership, I believe this deserves a zero-star rating. I nonetheless give them one star in recognition that I was able to get a loaner during the two weeks they kept my car (apparently, I was lucky, as they told me that there was a two-week waitlist for loaners). Incidentally, now back in my hometown hundreds of miles away from Gunther, opening the hood for the first time since that unpleasant visit to Gunther, I just discovered that the plastic engine cover is missing. That part is not necessary for the engine to work, but it is forever lost and the engine is more exposed without it. In hindsight, I should have believed the other negative reviews posted by others and should have never brought my car for service to this dealership. For sure, I will never ever go back again, and cannot recommend their service department to anyone. More
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP OR A VW! I bought mine in October, and had a lovely experience with the purchase, HOWEVER, now that it's time to trade, they WONT LET ME OUT! I have been tryi I bought mine in October, and had a lovely experience with the purchase, HOWEVER, now that it's time to trade, they WONT LET ME OUT! I have been trying for weeks and with at least, no exaggeration, 10 different dealerships, and they will NOT give my buyout to anyone. The salespeople and managers at the other dealerships are blown away and confused as to why they won't cooperate so I can trade my car for another. I am now told that VW does not let you trade your car at another dealership other than VW?! How is this legal?! So now, I call and ask, if I pay my car off, then I can trade it right?! So they tell me in order to get a buyout, I have to go to VW and they'll give me my payoff. I go, wait forever, then get some random number on the back of a business card that the man pulled out of his xxx and no explanation!! The price is more than I paid for the car. Literally made 9 payments and I'm told my buyout is exactly the same as it would have been 9 months ago?! How does that work?! Anyways, so I call a VW dealership yesterday because they have a different make of car I want (BMW) and I try negotiating this. Her response on my buyout is $6k DIFFERENT than what Gunther told me on the random business card. How is this legal?! So not only is my buyout different, but you won't even let me trade my car anywhere else?! This place and VW in general is a SCAM!!!!! So dishonest, rude, unprofessional and deceptive. I feel like I've joined a cult and can't get out. No real answers from anyone and the story doesn't add up!! More
Issue with oil leak car is only 9 months old called to make service appointment yesterday no return call. Called several times today and had to leave messages Finally got thru and made appointment for Sa make service appointment yesterday no return call. Called several times today and had to leave messages Finally got thru and made appointment for Saturday(that was the next available). The service guy said it will most likely cost us money since we didn’t get the oil changed with them so expect you to be charged when we get there. We had the oil changed back in February because we were in NY for a death in the family ( not a planned trip was last minutes) so didn’t have a choice and travel with 4 children. So it seems it’s probably not a major issue just a simple drain valve or something and I am shocked they will not just fix it and keep a happy customer but that’s there choice. I love Volkswagen vehicles as we have 3 but when this 2021 Atlas goes back on lease I will never purchase from Gunther Volkswagen the customer service is not there at all we will take our business elsewhere!! My issue isn’t with the inability to close a deal, it’s with the lack of professionalism from the sales rep upon trying to leave. They moved our car to do their appraisal for trade in without telling us. with the lack of professionalism from the sales rep upon trying to leave. They moved our car to do their appraisal for trade in without telling us. Then when I asked where it was and why they moved it the rep became belligerent with me. Even as I attempted to leave the floor he followed me out to yell at me. As I walked away from him around the building corner to get our car he followed me all the way there to continue to try to bait me into an argument. We weren’t able to reach a deal on the car we wanted, clearly that happens all the time. He couldn’t handle that we weren’t interested in the lease on a different vehicle that he tried to divert us too. He even become insulting a few times. Once, telling me I don’t understand the lease to buy option, which I fully do, just am not slightly interested in that option. Second when trying to get away from this screaming maniac and locating my wife’s car I became flustered and approached the wrong car, which was very similar that it shouldn’t be difficult to find the car now. I’ve never experience a level or rudeness from a car salesman ever. More
