I had my 2020 Kia Sorento towed in for service as it would not start My local mechanic got a code that the high pressure fuel pump module was faulty. They told me that Kia had to program it to the cars would not start My local mechanic got a code that the high pressure fuel pump module was faulty. They told me that Kia had to program it to the cars computer after installation and that there was a Trouble Bulletin for that that was covered by an extended warranty. The following day I was notified that Kia could not replicate that code but that they would need to replace the low pressure fuel pump. Several days later, they called to say that replacing the pump did not fix the problem. They now believed it was the oil pump wiring harness as it would blow two fuses after starting. Two more days went by and another call to say that was not the fix either. When the fuses blew this time it caused damage to the ECV and it would need to be replaced too. Replacing the ECV resulted with the same results. They then decided to go to the fuses that were blowing and trace back through the wiring harness for a possible short. Two days later they called to tell me that they did indeed found a short in the wiring harness and the whole harness would need to be replaced. They located one of the only three harnesses not on backorder nd had a N.J. dealership ship it to them.. About a week later, Ashley called to say the harness arrived and they should have the car ready in a day. Two days later, The service manager called to say it was ready. This whole process took 5 1/2 weeks. When I got to the dealership they presented me with a bill for $1785 for the replacement of the fuel pump, which did not correct the original issue. They did comp all the other parts and labor but those parts were all replaced due to incorrect diagnoses, including the replaced fuel pump. Ashley was the only saving grace through this entire ordeal. She was informative and compassionate about the long delay which resulted on us having to pay for car rentals and towing expenses. More
