As a long-time Land Rover o I was in the market for a preowned, single-owner Land Rover LR4 with low miles. This was meant to replace my existing LR4. As a long-time Land Rover owner I knew exactly what I was looking for in terms of condition once I found the right one. I was also willing to travel several hundred miles to inspect and purchase the right car. Using a few websites and apps, I located a vehicle at BC Benjamin Auto Sales. Based on my pricing research, they were coming in a few thousand dollars below what I expected based on their car's excellent condition and low miles (30K miles on a 2013 model). Too good to be true? What was I missing? I had a couple of phone calls with business manager Brian and I candidly told him that his offering made me skeptical. He explained their pricing philosophy and desire to move quality vehicles. I then asked about their fees (you should always ask about fees early in the process). Without hesitation he provided an itemized list of these, including a $2,250 "dealer prep" fee on every vehicle. Keep in mind that I am in the DC market and unfamiliar with the NYC-area preowned car market. To be honest I was surprised by this fee and said so to Brian. In his defense he didn't try to dodge my question. My advice to other consumers is that there is no such thing as a "hidden fee" if you simply ask common sense questions. This fee clearly moved the vehicle into a new price range but still within the fair market value for this premium/luxe SUV with low miles, and more importantly, it was still within my set budget. I decided not to react on emotion but just to keep this item on our list of discussion points. I have purchased preowned vehicles in the past and there are always creative approaches and many "dials to turn" to get to a price that is fair for both parties. My apps had told me that the price had just dropped and that the vehicle might not be available for long. I made plans to drive to NYC the next day with hopes of doing a trade-in and purchase that I could drive back to DC that same day. But, I was also prepared to turn around if the deal didn't make sense. Upon arrival I was greeted and welcomed with some nice hospitality by everyone I met. The Land Rover was pulled out and made available for a test drive and thorough inspection. I was given as much time as I needed to go over every system and I noted a couple of issues. Back inside with Freddie the GM we sat down to talk about a deal. There was no game-playing. We just talked about all the variables: asking price, value of trade-in, interest rate, down payment, target monthly payments. There was good rapport and we had a good-natured conversation. The guys threw me a few bones on some of the fees and my trade-in and then found me some decent financing. They also fixed one of the vehicle's issues on the spot and agreed in writing to take care of another one that required a dealer part. Once we both felt good about the deal we shook hands. Mike then walked me through the financing and related paperwork and there were no surprises. In fact, the final financed amount and monthly payments were a little lower than what was originally calculated. The vehicle was then given a final spritz and fueled up for my drive home. The trip home was smooth as silk and the pride of ownership was immediate. All told I spent a few productive (and entertaining) hours at BC Benjamin to complete this transaction. I genuinely enjoyed working with this team and would recommend any premium car enthusiast to view their inventory and give them a call. PS: When I returned to DC I had the vehicle evaluated by a Land Rover master mechanic and he was very impressed with my purchase. Also, less than a week after I took delivery, BC Benjamin contacted me to let me know that they had located the vehicle's owners manuals as well as a 3rd key fob which they sent to me at their expense. Update: It has been exactly one month since I purchased and took delivery on the Land Rover. In that time the followup from BC Benjamin has been prompt and professional. The tag transfer and registration process was expedited and completed in less time than expected. And just yesterday I received a final overypayment credit from the bank that had my last loan. To me, this followup is even more important than the experience on the day of the purchase. And to top it all off, the LR4 is running like a top and I love driving it! Thank you Brian, Freddie, Mike, Anita, and Marg at BC Benjamin Auto Sales! More

I took the car to inspect after I bought it the car has a lot of problems, tires not good I don’t know how they got it to pass inspection. I had like 5 cars before but this dealership is the worst. They took a certain amount of money for down payment when i checked the contact when I got home it was less than what I payed down. These people r ripoffs will not recommend.. More

Every car in the lot has hidden mechanical issues or undocumented body damage, confirmed by their own sales people who hate working there. I purchased a car that after the deal was made they tried to charge non sense fees which I fought off. A $60,000 Bentley with 13k miles broke down on the way home from their lot. They blamed the battery. Pretended to fix it and the angine and roof light would not turn off. I tried returning the car to them and after 2 weeks of fighting because they could not fix the car, they deducted $4000 and basically refunded the money to another dealer as a trade! STAY AWAY!!!! After researching I found out that the owner changed few years back and they basically run a scam based on the original owner’s reputation!! Almost 50 cars under my belt, and these are theese Guys are the worst I have had to deal with...never again!! More

Bad experience, Wasted out of state travel I bought 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV on Saturday Sept 3,2016 after driving over night from DC to NY. They gave me lip service. Told me they sold only I bought 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV on Saturday Sept 3,2016 after driving over night from DC to NY. They gave me lip service. Told me they sold only high end cars which is True. However, they never gave me gas in my tank to drive the car out of the lot. I only noticed it only after leaving the shop and driving 10miles away from the shop and in crazy NY traffic while driving back to DC that I had only 40miles of gas left in my gas tank. They had told me they only give full tank of gas for new cars and half a tank for used cars. I didn't get my due half tank either. After signing my documents on Saturday I was assured when the tags & title office is open on Monday they will mail my documents for me to take to the motor vehicle and register my car. It's been a month now and I have not received my title and when I asked even for a temporary tag extension while waiting for the title they later mailed and also so that I could drive my car for inspection before doing my tag, title and registration, I was turned down. I was forced to moved extra money from my pocket to pay for temporary registration before going through the complete registration of my car in Washington DC. each time I call the office to talk to these guys Mike the finance guy (who does the papers), Jerry (the sales man), they keep me hanging on the phone and claiming to be busy. It took me one week to finally get Mike on the phone. When I left on Saturday after buying my car, I was happy but the events after that have left a bad taste in my mouth. I was hoping to go back and buy a Roce Royce. I won't even dare too again or try to recommend this place to anyone. The extra $800 I have spent and the inconveniences are very degrading. My car is already showing a check engine light, AC not working, front shocks dead and there is no way I can drive from DC to NY to ask them to fix it. That is an extra cost I will have to bear. Cadillac Dealership repair shop estimated the cost for those repairs for me to be $7095 including tax. STAY AWAY!!! from them. More
