My 2006 Honda Civic was leaking coolant and had a known tech bulletin out for the issue. I called the service department and was able to get an appointment very quickly. My car was looked at and it was deemed to need a new engine block per the Honda extended warranty for the tech bulletin. They were very communicative and had my car back to me in 2 days, and provided a free loaner car (which was a very nice Accord). We picked up the car just before closing on a Friday and noted that the A/C wasn't working. We had just paid $1200 to get it fixed a few months earlier, and because we were in a rush to get to my nephew's 7th birthday party, we figured we would handle it later. On our way there, the check engine light came on. I was on my way out of town, and the light was going on and off sporadically. My husband called and got an appointment for the next Monday. I took the car in and explained that the A/C wasn't working and asked if they would just check the work, since I just had it repaired. Again, no problem, got a loaner and was off to work. I receive a call about an hour later that they "forgot" to put tech notes on the paperwork that my A/C wasn't working when they did the engine test drive. I again, explained that it was working that morning and that we just recently had it repaired. I was told that there was nothing that they can do, but if I wanted to pay for service, they would take a look at it. I told them that I would be there in the hour to pick up my car. I took my car to my mechanic (Mike at Midas on South Bay Rd in Syracuse) and asked them if they could take a look and let me know what the issue was with the A/C. Chad called me later to let me know that the issue was, when they replaced the engine block, that instead of disconnecting the A/C hoses and vacuuming them out and then reconnecting after the service was completed, that 'sometimes' mechanics like the remove the hoses and 'let it ride'. All Chad did was reconnect my A/C hoses and recharge my A/C and I was right as rain. Had Honda City bothered to take a look at their own work, I would like to think that they would have seen this error in their workmanship. Instead, they decided to treat me as if I was someone trying to 'get over' on them. Thankfully my mechanic is honest and didn't charge my for Honda City's mistake (which I would have gladly billed to Honda City). This is one of the main reasons that I (and I am sure others) NEVER take their car to the dealer for service. They are in the business of selling cars and not maintaining cars. Unfortunately my buying experience in 2009 was great, but this entire episode has made me a NON Honda City buyer. More
They aren't familiar with their own ads I stopped by today to see an Accord EX that's been advertised in at least 2 issues of the newspaper for the past week. They had no Accord EX's and had none coming in. So I asked if they had a copy of their ad. No one in the entire building had one; the salesperson and the sales manager never saw it and no one had access to it online either. So... I drove all the way back home and found the ad repeated again in TODAY's paper! I learned that the price of the "Accord EX" was exactly the same as an Accord Sport that I saw while I was there and was I was interested in. I actually liked it more than the pictures if the EX that I saw. Unfortunately no one in the sales staff had a clue what their ad looked like, what the price was, or where the car was, so I left very dissatisfied. The fact that the salesperson showed me new cars that had dealer-installed options like floor mats that supposedly could not be removed prior to sale really turned me off. More
As good as any and better than most these folks seem to do a good job. I have 2 complaints with their work and both are that the car was returned to me dirty. Oil spots left on tan leather seats on one visit and black spots / marks on the seats on another visit. I am very skeptical with car dealers but I try to remember that they have to make money to stay in business --- I just EXPECT to be treated with curtesy and I EXPECT things to be done right the first time. I hold dealers to a higher standard than an independent mechanic. After 3 years of doing business with Honda City I remain very happy with their work. More
Generallly satisfied on service of my 2001 Civic, but there were one or two things added to periodic maintenance that were not discussed or listed ahead of time -- one being to lubricate the front disc b there were one or two things added to periodic maintenance that were not discussed or listed ahead of time -- one being to lubricate the front disc brake calipers. They claim this being done avoids replacement or rebuild of the calipers at much greater expense (maybe true: I have over 80M miles with original brakes). More
