I was in the market for a 2013 Subaru Outback, I was not too sure what options to get and once I figured out what I wanted, which by the way was a 2.5i Premium with Winter Package, and Moonroof Option...I s too sure what options to get and once I figured out what I wanted, which by the way was a 2.5i Premium with Winter Package, and Moonroof Option...I sent out quotes to 5 dealerships in the Chicagoland area. I went to Mid-City first, than to Evanston Subaru, than to Autobarn Subaru and finally to Grand Subaru. At first, my search/visits were primarily to get a feel of the dealership and also the pricing, but for me...service/comfort level was more important. Even if I could save a couple of hundred more at a dealership and the comfort level and service feel was not on target...I would not buy my car there. With that said, my experience at Grand Subaru overall was excellent. Normally, with the way internet is going, everyone knows what the prices are....we can even find out about the sales guys and how they are rated on reviews sites and hey....you may even be able to run some background check on some of these guys just like they run a credit check on us before we buy a car. But all kidding aside, I came in casually to the dealership...at first I was waiting for Sandy (Internet Sales Rep), but since I had to use the bathroom...I casually asked some guy who told me the bathrooms were in the back in some outhouse...i was like, umm...I know I'm at a Subaru dealership buying an Outback but I didnt realize we are camping here. But turns out they are going through a 800K expansion/upgrade of their facilities, including service department. I told Dan what I wanted and although he did not have the car available, he said he can get it for me. The price I wanted to pay was not something he could work with, but I moved up the mark just a bit and he met me there. I think I got as good of a deal as I could (or I keep telling myself that). He threw in two free oil changes (after I asked for it), and dealership gives free car washes for life (not sure how much I will use this)....I also got all season mats, trunk covers thrown in after I negotiated it in the price. The financing portion was pretty easy and no hassle. I didnt get pushed to buy extended warranty. Overall, I did not feel like I was forced to buy a car...I do not think anyone should. At the end of the day, you pay for the car...not the dealer. So if you do not like the price or anything, walk away. No one has a gun to your head.... More
This was absolutely the best experience my wife and I have had buying a car. Sandy's response time to my initial price quote request, as well as to any questions I had was phenomenal. Whether by email or have had buying a car. Sandy's response time to my initial price quote request, as well as to any questions I had was phenomenal. Whether by email or text, she would respond almost immediately. If she didn't know the answer to my obscure questions, she dug deeper, found the answer and got back to me very quickly. The price she offered me was better than any other dealer in the state of Illinois, by quite a bit. Other dealers would just stop contacting me once I told them the offer she had laid on the table. To top it all off, the day of purchase we had a flight to catch. Sandy made the paperwork process so fast and easy that we made our flight with time to spare! Throughout the entire process, Sandy was friendly, approachable and easy to work with. She worked very hard to accommodate our special requests and time constraints. I would absolutely, 100% recommend Sandy and the folks at Grand Subaru to anyone looking to purchase a new or used car. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to working with them again in the future! More
I found Grand Subaru from Truecar.com and it is certified lower price. I compared their price and it is really competitive among all the dealers! Their 2013 models have even better price than other dealers' lower price. I compared their price and it is really competitive among all the dealers! Their 2013 models have even better price than other dealers' 2012 model! And their staffs are really friendly. Sandy Jackson, an online sale manager who communicate with me, answered all of my questions in time and provided all information I needed. It is really a wonderful experience to make deal with them! I love this Legacy 2013! More
Sandy worked out a great deal for me but more important she and her manager were beyond patient as I changed my mind about 10 times during the process. No pressure from Sandy, she asked if there was anythi she and her manager were beyond patient as I changed my mind about 10 times during the process. No pressure from Sandy, she asked if there was anything she could do to help me with my decision but never made me feel like I couldn't walk away if the car wasn't right for me. I would recommend Sandy & Grand Subaru to anyone looking for a car, I will buy another car fom them if the opportunity presents itself. Thank you Sandy and Ryan! More
Buying a car over the Internet can be challenging, however I found a fantastic dealer for inter net sales! Grand Subaru was fantastic to work with Joe D was curtious and honest. BEWARE of the service department at Grand Subaru dealership!! I brought my car is for service 2 weeks after I bought it, and this is what I dealt with. For starters, the loaner vehicle i was gi dealership!! I brought my car is for service 2 weeks after I bought it, and this is what I dealt with. For starters, the loaner vehicle i was given smelled terrible. Most of the interior had dirt on it, and there was no air freshener in the car. Also, there was only a half tank of gas when i got the loaner, but the paperwork told me i needed to fill the tank all the way to full when i was done. Makes no sense. Also, the loaner was not equipped with an i-pass, and no one at the dealership told me. I had to get in the car and realize that there was no ipass, then I asked the people at the dealership, and they told me I had to just take the one out of my vehicle. I was OK with using my own, but I wish someone at the dealership had at least let me know. When I went to pick the car after service, i had a few issues: 1. There were chunks of debris on the outside of the car, and big smudges on the windshield. My car had obviously not been washed after service, and there was no explanation as to how the debris got on the vehicle. 2. I had to request that my car be washed. I thought there was a complimentary wash whenever service was done to the vehicle. Especially if body service had been done. 3. There was a suspiciously high amount of miles put on my car when I picked it up. I left the vehicle there with approx 480 miles on it, and when I picked the vehicle up, it had over 520 miles on the ODO. The service mgr. told me that they drove the vehicle to the body shop and back twice. That body shop was less than two miles away. Even with the mileage he said the vehicle had when I dropped it off, the couple trips to and from the body shop did not add up. Very bad practice. My avg. MPG had gone down considerably, which leads me to believe that the vehicle was driven very hard. VERY bad practice. 4. The invoice that I received in the mail also did NOT list mileage that was on the vehicle when I dropped it off. Only the mileage that was on the ODO when service was completed. Another poor practice, and another reason for me to believe someone took my car joy riding. 5. The interior of my vehicle was dirty when I picked it up. I understand that the service guys may have dirty clothing, but they cannot leave dust and dirt inside of customer cars. My passenger side seat heater had been somehow switched on, and was left on when I picked up the vehicle. All of this lead to my overall dissatisfaction with the service, and the service department at Grand Subaru. My issue still has not been resolved as the Manager, Rich Drouin, has completely stopped replying to my e-mails asking for this disservice to be explained. WARNING- DON'T BRING YOUR CAR TO GRAND SUBARU!! More
Where do I start... They say here at Grand Subaru that " We will take care of you" and they do! After looking for an SUV for over a month, I finally found Grand Subaru. It was a bit out of my way, but " We will take care of you" and they do! After looking for an SUV for over a month, I finally found Grand Subaru. It was a bit out of my way, but well worth it. I found the car that I was looking for on their website and so I decided to make the drive out to them. Once I arrived Joe D' Andrea introduced himself and was very helpful and upfront with what he could do for me. Most dealers like to play the numbers games but not here at Grand Subaru... There is no BS. This is the easiest car purchase I have ever made. Because this was a used vehicle I asked Joe to have service take a look at a few things. I met with Anthony Rogers, in service, and he said "Don't worry we will take care of you." Again I was not disappointed! He was very patient and explained to me all that needed to be done. They addressed all the issues and "They took care of me." If all dealers were like this, dealers would not have such a bad reputation! 5 Star Dealer !!!!!! More
Experience with Grand Subaru One cannot say enough Experience with Grand Subaru One cannot say enough good things about Dan D’Andrea and Grand Subaru. But I will try. (Warning- long review although Experience with Grand Subaru One cannot say enough good things about Dan D’Andrea and Grand Subaru. But I will try. (Warning- long review although those are usually the most helpful, in my experience.) My experience with Grand Subaru included shopping for used cars, new cars and having my much older Subaru (’93) serviced there. So I’ve had a slightly broader experience with them then perhaps the average car shopper. My car started having trouble starting in the winter of 2011/2012. I initially looked for a used car, as I understood them to be a better “value.” However, due to your typical supply and demand, used cars in the first half of 2012 were scarcer than in recent years (due to the lower than usual leases from previous years), and the prices reflected that scarcity. I went to Grand Subaru to look at a used Legacy. Joe D’Andrea, the sales manager, was very cool and let my friend and I drive a used Legacy as well as a 2012 model. He just handed me the license plate to affix to the back and let us go. There was no pressure to buy and he graciously and patiently wrote out his inventory and accompanying prices. During this time of shopping, I took my 1993 Subaru Legacy to be serviced there. Joe (Bednarek?), the service manager was very pleasant to interact with, and provided a reasonable estimate. He made sure that I understood what would have been done but wasn’t pushy about any of it. I ended not repairing the old Subie, but was nicely surprised that it had been run through their car wash. (Also, there’s wifi at the dealership so you can bring a laptop to surf the net while waiting.) A few months passed and I mulled over purchasing new or used. I requested an e-quote from Grand Subaru about a 2012 Impreza and Dan D’Andrea responded with a very nice price under invoice. It took awhile but I finally started looking at a new car as an option. Dan was exceptionally patient with me and my many many questions (I like to know most everything about anything I buy). After looking for a car for 3-4 months, I finally put a deposit down for a 2013 Subaru Legacy mid-May. Please note that the 2013 Legacies and Outbacks only started showing up at the very end of June 2012—this is how much trust Dan D’Andrea and Grand Subaru had garnered with me. Dan went above and beyond what I expected, prioritizing the order so the car would come in with the first shipment of 2013’s. As many others have said, the pricing at Grand Subaru is very competitive. Dan didn’t try to upsell any options and made sure that the car had everything I wanted, double-checking so that there would not be any misunderstanding. Even after the sale, Dan was responsive and patient with questions. The staff at Grand Subaru is first rate—there is no pressure to buy and no fuss when you do. They don’t want to just sell you a car, but the car after that. Their service and attitude reflects this sentiment (also, Erik, the finance manager mentioned that they don’t work on commission so there isn’t any infighting). They’re also fairly quick; I think they would rather sell volume than gross profit. Seriously, there is no bs there. Request an e-quote from Grand Subaru. The price will be the lowest, and you won’t have to twist an arm to get it. Alright, I’m going to end here otherwise I’ll sound like a commercial for them. But it’s easy to say good things about Dan and Grand Subaru, well, because they’re true. I will definitely be going to Grand Subaru for service (and my backordered fog lights!) even though I’ve recently moved from Elmhurst to Wheaton. And definitely will buy from them for my next Subaru (provided Dan’s still there!). More
Grand Subaru was great in every aspect. No haggling needed on the price- just straight best price around. I live in Ohio and drove 6 hours to buy my Subaru Legacy 2.5. You never feel any pressure to needed on the price- just straight best price around. I live in Ohio and drove 6 hours to buy my Subaru Legacy 2.5. You never feel any pressure to buy it. Dan and his dealership were great on all follow up questions during the sales process and after the sale. I will definitely refer any friends from Ohio to check out his dealership. No one in Cleveland even came within $800 of his price. Very straight forward. This was the easiest car transaction that we will probably ever have. More
If you are buying a Subaru, be sure to email Dan while you are searching for the best deal. He is an excellent sales person who will respond quickly, keep his word, and treat you with respect. Dan agr you are searching for the best deal. He is an excellent sales person who will respond quickly, keep his word, and treat you with respect. Dan agreed to a price that beat all competitors in the area and had the car waiting for me when I arrived. He did not put unneccesary pressure on my wife and I. He informed us about our options and let us know that our "yes" or "no" is the final say and he wouldn't push for anything more. Dan also stayed committed to getting us out the door in time to get the kids to bed at a decent hour. Dan's prompt responses and friendliness did not disappear after our purchase was complete. He has been very kind in answering a few questions we had about features of our new vehicle in the first week of ownership. This guy is awesome. More
