We had been looking for a 2012 Legacy limited in the western Chicago suburbs. A cursory internet check showed about 13 within 25 miles. The 3 lowest priced were at Grand Subaru in Bensonville, so we w western Chicago suburbs. A cursory internet check showed about 13 within 25 miles. The 3 lowest priced were at Grand Subaru in Bensonville, so we went there first. We did not know that they sell more cars than any Subaru dealer in Illinois. The staff was very knowlegable, and exceedingingly freindly. I test drove the car with John Gallo, then he arranged for me to take it home - about 20 miles, so my wife could drive it. She liked it too, so back we went, and walked out about 2 hours later after trading in a car and buying this one. No muss, not fuss. There was an issue with a key, and over a couple of days talking with the sales manager, Ryan Drouin, that's been taken care of as well. I don't buy cars often, and generally dislike the entire process, start to finish. But this was different. I had done a lot of research on this car and what it was worth, which the sales team noted. The car was competetivly priced so the negotiation was quick and pleasant. I would definately use Grand Subaru again! More
Living more than three hours from Grand, I wanted to insure a tentative agreement on purchase price and trade-in before making the trip. This was done over the phone with Chris, who was true to his wor insure a tentative agreement on purchase price and trade-in before making the trip. This was done over the phone with Chris, who was true to his word. When I arrived, I expected the typical shark-like "blood in the water" treatment, but the transaction was smooth (the best car buying experience I've ever had). There were no alterations to the trade-in quote or purchase price (something I've experienced in the past with other dealerships). Friendly staff--despite(unexpectedly)working late hours on New Year's Eve, due to customer volume. A truly no-pressure approach! Competitive pricing and higher trade-in offers than the other dealers I had researched. My only complaint is that the fuel tank was only a quarter full; something I have never experienced buying a vehicle (new or used). Maybe that was an oversight (the reason for my 4-star rating on "customer service"), but the overall experience was extremely positive. Traded a Jeep Wrangler Sport for a 2010 Forester and had the opportunity to experience the AWD on the trip home. Far superior to the Wrangler in 2-3 inches of snow and better MPG too! Would definitely purchase another vehicle from Grand Subaru! More
After trying out a friend's Outback and reading reviews online, I decided that a 2013 Subaru Outback was the car for me. I submitted a request for pricing to three Subaru dealerships from the subaru.com, w online, I decided that a 2013 Subaru Outback was the car for me. I submitted a request for pricing to three Subaru dealerships from the subaru.com, where I "built my own car." Dan got back to me within minutes, even though the dealership was closed, telling me I'd have a quote in the morning. All three dealerships got back to me with pricing on the model I asked for, with the major options package. But I wanted a number of accessories added, so I made a PDF from the configuration I'd chosen at subaru.com. And I sent it to all three dealers, late one evening. This time, only Dan D'Andrea got back to me with a price on the exact car I wanted. Not only that, but since he didn't have the color and option package I wanted in stock, he located the car at another dealership. And it was a firm price, not depending on a trade-in (I didn't) or financing (I brought my own). I asked if I could take one last confirmatory test-drive, and Dan helped set up an appointment with his brother Joe. I went out to the dealership, and after taking a photocopy of my license, Joe handed me the keys and let me test-drive a similar car to mine on my own. I put a deposit down on the car, and Joe started the ordering process. It took about a week to transfer the car and order and install the additional dealer-installed options I'd asked for. Along the way, Dan kept me up-to-date, and when it was certain when the car would be done, made an appointment for me to pick it up. This was one of the the most straightforward car-buying experiences I have ever had. Absolutely no hassles or surprises or hidden costs. No pressure to finance, no pressure to come to the dealership before giving me a price. Dan's quotes even disclosed documentation, title, and registration fees. Every step of the way was friendly, an awesome balance of professional and fun. Along the way, everybody wanted to know if there was anything I needed, and what would make it work for me. Communicating was easy by e-mail and phone. I love my new Outback. Thanks to Dan and Joe for making this a great buying and owning experience. I tell my friends now, if you want a car, really consider a Subaru. And if anybody is buying a Subaru, I strongly suggest talking to Dan at Grand Subaru. More
Tremendous experience. Very responsive, straightforward and no games. Gave an amazing price (over 7% lower than other dealers on the first bid) - other dealers couldn't / wouldn't match their price. They and no games. Gave an amazing price (over 7% lower than other dealers on the first bid) - other dealers couldn't / wouldn't match their price. They tracked down the color combo we wanted and made it happen quickly and with very little effort on our part. Dan,Bill and Ryan were great to work with - did not bad mouth competitors (other dealers in Chicago did), did not employ high-pressure tactics (other dealers did) - just offered a great price plus some extras and delivered on every promise timely and in full. Will absolutely be recommending Grand to friends and family. More
I recently purchased a new 2013 Forester from Grand Subaru. Initially requested an e-price from their website which easily beat all of the competition in the Chicagoland area. Worked with Dan D'Andrea Subaru. Initially requested an e-price from their website which easily beat all of the competition in the Chicagoland area. Worked with Dan D'Andrea in internet sales and he answered all of my questions and when I asked a total OTD price by e-mail there was a quick and accurate response. The exact car that we wanted was not in stock but Dan worked to get the one we wanted in a short period of time. When I called to confirm the delivery date and asked if there were any price changes, Dan guaranteed the price that he had quoted and we verbally agreed to. when we arrived for delivery the car was ready and everyone was friendly laid back and the whole process took less than 2 hours. I highly recommend Grand Subaru and Dan D'Andrea for anyone looking to buy a Subaru. More
I "do my homework" and was very familiar with car values before arriving. My trade-in had the average amount of miles for a 6 year old car, a clean carfax, is mechanically in excellent condition, car values before arriving. My trade-in had the average amount of miles for a 6 year old car, a clean carfax, is mechanically in excellent condition, and you could count the number of blemishes inside and out on one hand. Pros: The salesman I dealt with was friendly and was happy to let me test drive two used vehicles by myself. He did try to steer me towards more expensive models a few times but was not pushy about it. The two 4 year old Subarus I tested seemed to be in very good condition and I was genuinely interested in buying one of them. The listed (on Autotrader.com) asking price for that vehicle was about %10 under what I would judge MSRP to be. Cons: I was absolutely stunned by the initial offer to come down from the manager for my trade-in, which was $3000+ under *auction* value and almost half of my vehicle's trade-in value. After the manager came down to "negotiate" with me I was told that the best he could do was still $2000+ less than the listed kbb/nada/edmunds trade-in value for my car vs their non-negotiable listed price. Suggestions for this dealership: If you're not interested in trade-ins you should let the customer know that up front. More importantly, don't insult them with an initial offer that a junkyard might make for parts on a totaled car. Also, be able to identify (the apparently few) informed buyers that come through your doors and don't waste their time if you're only interested in making massive profits on every deal you do. I've been looking for the right used car for just over a week now and this has easily been my worst experience. More
My wife and I decided we were ready to purchase a 2013 Outback, our second Subaru. We submitted pricing requests to about 10 dealers in Michigan and Illinois. Sandy Jackson from Grand was the first to res Outback, our second Subaru. We submitted pricing requests to about 10 dealers in Michigan and Illinois. Sandy Jackson from Grand was the first to respond..... not pushy at all but ready to move. I waited until I received all the other offers. Sandy's was the lowest by a good margin. When I told other dealers what Sandy's offer was, they assured me the it couldn't be for the same vehicle, or that it must have been hail damaged or that the price would change after I got to the dealership. Well we gave a deposit and made the trip to Grand and were pleasantly surprised that it was the correct vehicle, not damaged in any way and the price actually went DOWN a couple dollars. About six weeks later we sold our 2012 Outback and replaced it with another 2013 that we also bought from Sandy. Sandy is pleasant to work with and is very easy to get ahold of on the phone or email. One thing worth noting...... if you are from Michigan or any other state that does not have a front license plate requirement ask if you can get a vehicle that has not had screws put into the front bumper.
