BUYER BEWARE! Heard of the ole bogus charge of “dealer prep” fee? I’m sure you have sometime or another. Maybe not. It’s usually a charge dealers try to add on at Heard of the ole bogus charge of “dealer prep” fee? I’m sure you have sometime or another. Maybe not. It’s usually a charge dealers try to add on at signing. Usually somewhere around $100-$700. Now hang in there and hold on while I explain what Granbury Nissan attempted to try with us. We were ready to buy this Ram Limited 1500 for an advertised price of $46,000 Had a trade in that I was upside down about $4000 and was ready to eat that for this new truck. We were 100% honest with them about what we wanted for our truck, and we would just add the $4K on to the loan. We didn’t ask them to come down on the price or nothing, yet when we sat down, they had the deal way up over $60,000. As I look at the paper work, lo and behold they added, and get this $5595 DEALER PREP fee!!! Seriously??? They really must think I’m stupid! I know people tend to get “the car buying bug” and will do whatever it takes to get the vehicle and get out, but that’s not me/us. What kind of dealership up charges that amount? I mean WOW! If you do your research on “dealer prep fees” you will see that that’s one of the most bogus charges a dirty dealer will try to charge people. To add that amount says ALL I need to know. Walk away! We did. To prove my point, as I got upset, and asked for my keys back. We then walked out waited outside. Of course manager came out to talk to us. Long story short, he said he would completely drop that $5595 charge, and after low balling me on the trade in amount of $14000, he also said he would give me the $18000 for it. So total that amount Granbury Nissan was up charging me nearly $10,000 the manager immediately said he would drop if we stayed and worked the “deal” as they call it. I just can’t wrap my head around of how dirty that was!! Now let’s add insult to injury. One of the main reasons I went to Granbury Nissan, other than the truck I liked, was the fact that I went on their website to “Value my trade” I hit THEIR link, went through the process, and was completely honest about my truck I was trading in. Most importantly, the condition, miles and trim. I needed at least $20K for it and was willing to eat the other $4K I owed, in order to get this new truck. I was completely upfront about it, and bc I had filled out their form and was offered $18680 online, I was hoping they’d bend a little and give me the $20K. They came back with a low ball offer of $14k Now what is this? Remember earlier when the manager said he’d give me the $18K? After I got upset about the dealer prep fee? What is all this?? Scamming people imo. Taking advantage at the very least! I will post the offer in a pic here. I honestly didn’t expect the full $18600 but come on? What’s this low balling? He tells me “oh thats a third party offer, we can’t give that much”. Really? Then why the xxxx do you have them on your website??? I’ll tell you why, bc they do that to get you in there. Only to slap you in the face with a low ball offer. Let me give some future buyers some solid advice. NEVER EVER EVER PAY ANY Dealer Prep fees. Research it. 100% bogus charges no matter what any dealer says! And NEVER EVER EVER negotiate car payments. Negotiate price of the vehicle. Payments will take care of themselves no matter what they tell you. And finally, go into a dealership telling them you’re paying cash for the vehicle! They can’t manipulate as easy that way. And finally, the only charges that should ever be added when buying a vehicle are Taxes, title and License. Aka TT&L and maybe a $150 document fee. No more! If they try anymore fees than that, they’re lying. RUN! To Granbury Nissan, everything I wrote is 100% accurate! No need to reply. No excuses. This is what happened. I hope you reevaluate your sales practices. I have bought many cars in my 56 years on this planet and have never seen a dealership this dirty! Honestly, I don’t know what y’all tell yourselves when you put your head on your pillow at night to sleep More
I ultimately got the car I wanted at I believe a fair price from these folks. The administrative and customer service work was less than 5 stars for sure. I p[urchaased car from out of state and sent s price from these folks. The administrative and customer service work was less than 5 stars for sure. Bought a truck from here on 1/15. Will not buy anything from this dealership again. I asked about the maintenance on the truck because the oil change light was on and was told “it’s u Will not buy anything from this dealership again. I asked about the maintenance on the truck because the oil change light was on and was told “it’s up to date we just changed the oil” my fault that I trusted a car salesmen. I called the service department prior to resetting the light my self and turned out that the oil was changed 8000 miles ago so when they sold me the truck it was already over due for the oil change by 2500 miles. So now less then a month into owning the truck I have to make an extra trip down to granbury to have it changed. On top of that the truck HAD a bed cover which was not secured and flew off within the first drive. On top of everything they have huge “hidden fees” the price was not anywhere close to the online price. Worst buying experience I’ve ever had. I have purchased 8 Nissans prior to this at other dealers and never had such an issue. I will take part of the blame I was excited and should have seen the red flags. I hope my experience will help deter people from buying here. I’m not one to post reviews but good luck getting ahold of anyone I have called and emailed with no response. The first three times I tried calling I was supposed to be transferred to a manager and ended up being forwarded to the granbury veterinary hospital. Shady. More
Like to commence this commentary with the fact the people of Texas are far more polite and courteous than of my home state of California. However, I did not have that experience with Granbury Nissan on my re of Texas are far more polite and courteous than of my home state of California. However, I did not have that experience with Granbury Nissan on my recent 2023 Z Sport purchase, and following is fact and opinion based. As a prudent buyer I scoured the Internet for an appealing deal and Granbury had it posted on a Friday night search. So, following Saturday morning the ad was pulled, but still received a reply from a dealership salesperson a nice enough gent. Long story short, and if you've ever purchased a new vehicle one can relate to a prolonged and/or painful buying experience. Here it goes: price went up $3K over initial Internet post, was communicated to that actually listing was $6K over Internet due to dealership sales event weekend. Now, long delays in Interstate communication lead to honored Internet price, does it have to be so difficult? Provided all the required credit info and never received a timely confirmation that I was accepted until the issue was pressed on my end. Then came a time constrained execution of documents via docu sign , 32 pages long, that was do or die if I wanted the car with a 2 hour time limit and no advance notice when email was to arrive, keep in mind this was Saturday evening. Met conditions of the purchase and transferred bank funds for promised down payment then requesting confirmation on receipt of funds, didn't happen. In conclusion and frustration, at this point, they answered when I poked the bear again. Now, wanted to void the transaction as car is still at dealership, allowing them to list at their higher price which I see as fair but they hold fast to a no rescission clause on vehicle contracts by Texas law, but not on an ethics platform. I am legally bound, but say this to all potential buyers to be very careful of bait & switch, pressure tactics, and lack of or delayed communication, and know all the minutia in long contracts exercising careful perusal to all points and their consequences. This was my experience and just wanted to inform those of what may be in store for you. This kind of practice is not new hence an old Latin phase "Caveat Emptor" - Let the buyer beware. Best to all.
