What a great experience buying a car. I don’t do this often but Darwin and Mohammed were unbelievably helpful, kind, and considerate. I placed a factory order for a vehicle at an AGREED UPON MSRP. Went to pick up the vehicle, and that's when the stereotypical xxxx bait and switch behavior ensued. MSRP had increased $1100. First red flag MSRP. Went to pick up the vehicle, and that's when the stereotypical xxxx bait and switch behavior ensued. MSRP had increased $1100. First red flag. Fine I'll suck it up. But because the 'Market Value' had increased, they tried to demand a $4995 Customer Care Protection Plan or something. Took 45 minutes, back and forth, for them to remove. Multiple times the salesman tried to explain that they had to get prices up to the Market Value. So much for an agreed upon price for a factory order! Next, when I placed the factory order, the salesman said my trade in would be b/w $7,000 and $8,000. They offered me $4500. Shocking, I know. We settled on $5500 for the trade in and the new (increased!) MSRP. I even signed the (worthless) little paper that the salesman takes back to the manager 100 times. Great done deal. Nope, when he came back they had added another $895 'protection plan' of some sort. I told them no thanks, back and forth, up and down. They agreed, and removed it. Finally, it goes to Finance. Forty minutes later, salesman comes out and says I have to pay $300 for a 'Vehicle Theft Program', that its required and included in the price. Turns out, its NOT actually included in the price, its an additional fee that came from the finance office (among others), and its NOT required. I told them I didn't want it. Salesman refused, said I had to have it. At that point it wasn't about the money anymore (they had widdled their scams down to just $300 - although still had the $1100 increase in MSRP than what was agreed to). Tired of the scam, and realizing I could never trust anyone in that building, I left. Mr. Owner, did I capture the essence correctly? Update: Golf Mill Ford has told Dealer Rater they have worked with me to resolve my issue. Ha! Another lie. Update#2: I did contact a manager, Nick. Remember the scam #2, that $895 after market 'protection' package they required I buy? Until I respectfully declined multiple times and had them remove it, which they did. (Btw, that scam was before they went to the $300 Theft Protection Plan, which they said was included and required - neither of which are true.) Well, Nick's shiny new 'offer' to get me into the car was GO BACK and take the $895 protection plan. Yep, the same one which we had already mutually AGREED to remove!! Let me repeat that - his solution was to return to dealer and accept the package that we had already agreed to remove. What? His offer was a WORSE deal than when I left the dealership. Interesting sales tactic. Proves the point that they don't want me in the car I factory ordered from their dealership at terms that were agreed too. They'd rather sell it at an upcharge to someone else, and speaks to my point about trust - which is ultimately why I left. They will tell you there was no deposit put on the car when ordered, which is true. Wasn't requested or required. They just won't let you take delivery of the vehicle unless you agree to pay for aftermarket services and packages which aren't required - but tell you they are! Kinda like being held hostage, until you agree to their terms. Is that even legal? I don't know, but its certainly not ethical. Stay far away unless you enjoy being forced to purchase something you don't want. Stereotypical sleaze to a T! More
