I pre-ordered a 2022 BMW X3 and was not told until the vehicle arrived that I could not get Heads-Up-Display due to chip shortage. Also missing some of the shadowline trim I specified. My experience wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Given the supply chain challenges due to the pandemic, I am glad that my sales rep advised that I could look for vehicles on the Sonic site. I likely wouldn't have found a vehicle in the time frame that I did without this option. HUGE PRO. Another pro is that I was given a fair price on my trade-in vehicle. And lastly, my sales rep did answer my call/text about my car on his day off. Cons: This dealership needs improvement on good customer service. I was told that I could have any vehicle delivered from any location on the Sonic Automotive website for a refundable 1K deposit - no questions asked if I didn't like the vehicle. Welp, that wasn't the case. My sales rep told me how mad the business manager was when I decided against the initial vehicle I selected. I had to ask my sales rep 3 separate times to issue the refund of my deposit. I found and decided to purchase a Mini Cooper SE out of Houston. I had to track the delivery of the car from Houston to Atlanta myself. In fact, I told my sales rep that the car had been delivered and he had no idea. Not only that, he didn't even know where my car was as it had been delivered to the wrong dealership. The day my car was delivered, my sales rep was off work that day. I called him- and he did answer - and told me that his colleague Ray could move the deal forward in his absence. I called Ray and left a message. Ray never called me back so I had to wait two days for my sales rep to return to the office to pick up my car. I secured my own financing and sent my sales rep information over email that he never reviewed which caused my financing paperwork to have to be redone a few times. My sales rep didn't walk me through hardly any of the car's features. I made a comment during the test drive with my sales rep about how stiff the regenerative braking is - turns out that that feature can be turned off but my sales rep didn't tell me that. Mini Cooper is under the BMW umbrella so I would assume they would be able to talk about the features but I guess not. I asked my sales rep to place a big red bow on the car so I could take a photo of it - he never did. (I asked the finance manager to put.a bow on the car and he did it for me). The dealership didn't allow me to negotiate on price or ancillary product pricing. Just had to buy the car as is, as priced, with no white glove customer service to speak of. I expected a lot more from BMW as a luxury brand. Seemed like the service you'd expect at a place like Carmax. No frills. More
