Gillman Subaru San Antonio

My wife and I bought our 2015 Forester from Gillman in late 2014, and we were hesitant to return to them because it was not a great experience. I'm sure MANY car owners can empathize with having a pushy, late 2014, and we were hesitant to return to them because it was not a great experience. I'm sure MANY car owners can empathize with having a pushy, frustrating buying experience. We decided to at least stop by Gillman a couple of months ago to see if they'd improved, which is when we first met Ryan Standish, and overall, Gillman has vastly improved from our late 2014 experience! I highly recommend working with Ryan, as he helped make this my first positive dealership experience. ::Overall Experience:: We met Ryan while considering the Subaru Ascent vs another car for a new family 3-row SUV. We ultimately decided on the Ascent, and Ryan took our deposit over the phone to order exactly what we wanted from the manufacturer. ETA was 60 days, but we were pleasantly surprised when it arrived after only 45 days. I brought my existing car to consider as a trade-in, but their initial quote was too low. Ryan worked with whoever approved trade-in values, and we were able to get to a number that worked for all of us. As I had done my research, I knew the current manufacturer financing was better than my credit union (which was a pleasant surprise), so I let them know I wanted to finance the remaining cost (after my trade-in and down payment) through them. Once we got to this part of the process, we finished reasonably fast, and the business manager, Daniel, was amiable and easy to work with. Unlike the last time we bought a Subaru from Gillman, I can confidently say my wife and I will be returning the next time we need a new car! Thanks again to Ryan Standish! ::Quick Note for Would-Be Buyers with a Trade-In:: I recommend getting a sale quote from another dealership ahead of time. You'll be better prepared, and you'll reduce your overall stress. If the dealer doesn't need your car as much at the time (i.e. their offer is much lower than elsewhere), then you know you can sell your car elsewhere quickly and then come back to buy with just cash down and your loan. Sometimes the dealer will want to negotiate more if they have specific sales goals to meet, and other times, they won't. As a financial advisor by trade, I can say buying a car is going to be one of, if not the, largest purchase outside of buying a home, so take a deep breath, write things down ahead of time, and don't be afraid to sell your car elsewhere before coming back if the cost isn't in your budget. More
