I have never written a review for a business before, but I didn’t feel like I could sit on this and not share. In January 2022 I had to purchase a new car. Knowing the reputation of the Gebhardt dealershi I didn’t feel like I could sit on this and not share. In January 2022 I had to purchase a new car. Knowing the reputation of the Gebhardt dealerships up in Northern Colorado is top notch, I decided to drive an hour south to another of the family's dealerships as it had a car I wanted to look at. Due to my husband’s hectic work schedule I had to go by myself. Everything about the sale was great. The Sales guy was kind, the finance guy was great. The owner was nice. The prices are out of control, but I didn’t have a choice. I was issued the carfax report that noted front driver side damage but the dealership assured me it was cosmetic. I really wish that I didn’t live an hour from the dealership and could have had my mechanic look it over before the sale. I guess I just assumed that coming from a quality dealership with a good reputation, it would be in good working order. As I was driving my new car home, about half way, I realized the dealership never took my down payment. When I got back to town and was going through the parking lot of my daughter's school I noticed the front bumper kind of sounded like it was loose. Then I remembered the carfax. Just cosmetic. I pulled in and immediately called the sales guy up and told him about the down payment. He took my credit card card number and assured me that he was running it right then. A week went by and we watched for it on the credit card. It was never charged. On January 19 the owner called and left a message just following up. I missed this call as I was working and called back the next day because I wanted to tell him about the payment and the noise I was hearing that didn’t seem right. I left a message with the lady that answered and received no call back. My husband also didn’t like the sound so we got it into our mechanic. They found that 1) It had been over 6 months since an oil change (before we bought it) 2) The struts were shattered and had leaked all fluid. That was the noise we were hearing, not the bumper 3) The steering wheel telescope was broken and wouldn’t adjust (safety issue) 4) Air Bag light for passenger side goes on and off daily. And in the time we were waiting for our mechanic appointment the battery wouldn’t charge adequately and the car would die. So, 5) New Alternator. They obviously knew something wasn’t right but didn’t diagnose it correctly because they replaced the battery at the dealership. That bill, $2841.12. Not even a month later the battery was doing the same. Another new alternator. Then May comes around. Upon turning the Air conditioning on for the first time I discover it’s blowing hot air (obviously the mechanic at the dealership didn’t catch this either. Can someone explain to me why my used car purchased through them did not have a certified pre-owned inspection completed before it was put on the lot and listed for sale? I thought this was a requirement.) And the alternator begins acting up again. They discover it is a faulty positive battery cable. Problem solved. This bill is $716.96. At this point it would have been cheaper to replace the transmission in my old car. Our total for repairs was now at $3557. Fast forward to July 2022. I received a call from the finance department at Gebhardt stating that they don’t have a receipt for my down payment. They needed proof or the payment. To be honest, we began to conclude that they knew the car needed repairs and didn’t take the down payment in turn to cover those impending repairs. We found it odd that even after calling and reading the cc number over the phone, and not getting a return call from the dealership a week later, that maybe that was how they felt it was even. It kind of became a joke. We figured it was a wash. I forwarded copies of the bills we paid to the finance department hoping they would help cover the costs and make this right. They chose not to help with any costs stating that we should have notified them of the issues. That is kind of hard to do when you can’t even get a call back or a down payment taken. What if I didn’t have the money now to make the down payment because I had to spend it on repairs? I did pay the down payment as we owed that to them. As a woman making a large purchase like this alone, I feel like what you hear about car dealerships is true. You must always take a man with you if you don’t want to be taken advantage of. I’m very independent so this is a hard lesson for me. I also learned that buying a used car from a well known dealership doesn't mean they do a thorough inspection and fix things before they put it on the lot for sale. Why would you not at least do an oil change? I made the unfortunate mistake of buying a used car “as is” from this dealership and didn’t have it checked by an actual mechanic before the sale. I will not make this mistake again and hope by putting this out there, other potential buyers will know what to look for before they finalize their purchase. More
Jonn Eric offered the best car buying experience of my life! He went out of way at every opportunity. Currently, used cars are scarce and often overpriced. Gebhardt is the one-in-a-million dealership: tru life! He went out of way at every opportunity. Currently, used cars are scarce and often overpriced. Gebhardt is the one-in-a-million dealership: trustworthy, hard-working, and ethical. They do thorough pricing research to set great deals within a 500/mile radius. Most dealers do not extend that range as it lowers prices. The company doesn’t take advantage of the current chip / auto storage. Their ethical business practices are reliable. They are cultivating clients, which is unheard of in the current used car climate of Northern Colorado. Jonn Eric took the time to understand my needs and we developed a rapport, which made me trust the man. In other dealerships, I was pitted against the used car salesman where it was clear only one person wins. Jonn Eric listened to me so thoughtfully, he made a personal connection between the Gebhardt family and mine. I met two charming, professional and welcoming members of this well-rooted, dynamic company. Jonn Eric made this connection for me. The time he spent with me allowed me to feel secure in my purchase. Many car sales people pit buyers against each other. Jonn Eric was honest at every step: no manufactured bidding wars at Gebhardt. More

Many car sales people pit buyers against each other. Jonn Eric was honest at every step: no manufactured bidding wars at Gebhardt. I’ve been researching the specific car I purchased. Thus, my questions were detailed. Jonn Eric answered all he could. If a query was too specific, he’d smile and say, “Time for the owner’s manual.” Unlike every other dealership I visited, Jonn Eric didn’t leave me for “visits to his manager.” He never said, “My manager said …” or “I’ll have to run this past my manager.” The honesty, integrity, friendliness, professionalism and overall kindness reminds me of my grandfather’s Midwest Chevrolet dealership. He built loyalty one person at a time, ethically, honestly and prioritizing loyalty. You might think this is utopian; however; his ethics worked to make his dealership A top producer. He won every sales trip GM offered its top producers. Back to the commonalities between my family’s business ethics and Gebhardt’s. Jonn Eric is an integral team member of the Gebhardt family - not by blood but by his no-pressure approach, which allows clients needed time to learn about the car they might buy. Gebhardt BMW / Used Cars is a vital member of the Boulder community. I’m grateful deals at other dealerships from Broomfield to Longmont fell through so I could find my dream car, from Jonn Eric, an honorable salesman whose earned my loyalty to Gebhardt BMW/ Used Cars. “You should try a BMW X5M or a Trackhawk”, my last sales person at another store & brand told me, when I again asked what was out there that could replace TWO of my current beast SUV’s, with ONE. Too many c person at another store & brand told me, when I again asked what was out there that could replace TWO of my current beast SUV’s, with ONE. Too many cars, and too many trades, but he was right. Drove a few X5’s. Liked. Thankfully there’s several BMW dealers in Colorado, and after inquiring online at all of them, and pondering different engines & options, I got connected with James Yelvington at Gebhardt BMW in Boulder. I still wasn’t sure, but let him know I was open, either to the plug in Hybrid or a full M…crazy, as usual. James, nailed it. “We have a plug in demo, and a CPO 2022 X5M, BUT I also have—hard to find—an almost fully loaded brand new X5 M50i someone ordered, and backed out of. Same V8 as the M, but posher. Come see it.” I did. I loved it. And it checked the performance boxes I loved of the M, but in a posher more luxurious package, for…$25k less. James & the Gebhardt team, including Tomaso, and especially Ryan Ballweg in finance, were on point and incredibly helpful, with a complex “trade 2 brand new expensive cars for 1 new expensive car”, and even instantly available by text & email as I was traveling for work on the east coast. Everything was done, ready, wrapped up, they helped me get my 2nd trade to the store even on a busy Saturday, and have been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. Refreshing, after the last few expensive cars I’ve purchased and their dealers, to also experience how great the service team is here. Needed something checked out, and instead of “we’ll take a look and see”, even on a Saturday they had the Shop Foreman Jonathan to go for a ride with me. Live in Denver, and yes, technically we have 2 other stores “kind of closer”, but the experience at Gebhardt in Boulder and fun, easy 32 minute nice trip is worth it. Thanks for welcoming me to BMW, from the great team here. More

Once we arrived, he was very personable, took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and showed us the truck, did our test drive with us. (even though it was now after hours for him). He was thorough and returned my calls. i would call Jon Eric if /when I am back in market. (yes, I did buy the truck) More

Gloomy as the day wasI got a warm welcome from Jon and he showed me the car I came into test drive. Then we added another. Good "car talk" about the cars and I left to continue the test drives on my list. I showed me the car I came into test drive. Then we added another. From the start, this felt very “off” but I wanted to trust them. The sales experience was slimy and they hire people who pretend that they are sales people, but in reality they just handle inbound inqui trust them. The sales experience was slimy and they hire people who pretend that they are sales people, but in reality they just handle inbound inquiries, gain the interest from the perspective buyer and then switch them to a sales person the moment they step foot into the showroom. I was clear about what I wanted with the lease and they agreed to it, in writing. I was promised that the clear bra would cover the zones we discussed and agreed to, INCLUDING the front bumper and rocker panels, since those areas get the most rock chips on our highways. I paid nearly $1100 (documentation attached) for those items to be done, and they put it into the contract on a “WE OWE” sheet which is a legal binding document. I made countless calls and emails to the owner of the dealership as well as the general sales manager Greg Jones, of which I have all documentation of. The sales person, James was also involved in the entire transaction and kept saying he was embarrassed by how they handled everything and he wished they had more integrity. Greg stated he would have a mobile tech come out and install the clear bra as promised, but they never did so. I owned the car almost a month and they still didn’t do what they promised. I called BMW customer care and they started a case file for me but stated that since the dealer is independently owned, it would have to be taken care of with the dealership. They stated they reached out to the dealer Gebhardt, and Greg told them they didn’t need to honor their contract, since I sold the vehicle. They completely ignored the fact (literally fact) that I contacted them many times to get the work done, and to talk about my concerns with the dealership after leasing a $100k vehicle. They NEVER followed up, including the owner of the dealership or the general sales manager, NOBODY. I feel sorry for James the sales person, because he stated he’s always caught in the middle of their promises and tactics. Well this time is different, it’s a contract, it’s in writing and they’ve failed to follow through with their written promises, for products I paid for and never received. This is pure fraud. Stay away from this dealership. I will continue to spread the word because it’s black and white, and documented. More
