I’ve had numerous issues with Performance Kia in Denville, NJ, but the latest one is the most outrageous. My 2019 Kia Sorento has been randomly not starting since January 1, 2024. I brought it in, a Denville, NJ, but the latest one is the most outrageous. My 2019 Kia Sorento has been randomly not starting since January 1, 2024. I brought it in, and after keeping my vehicle for 3 days, they couldn’t find the problem. Then I received a letter from Kia America stating that the issue is related to the high-pressure fuel pump—clearly the reason why my car won't start. Despite this, Performance Kia refused to replace the part! I’m beyond frustrated, especially since it's extremely inconvenient and unsafe when your vehicle doesn’t start unexpectedly. What’s worse is that they let me leave their dealership with a car that could fail at any time, putting me and my children in danger. This is completely unacceptable and shows an alarming disregard for customer safety. I cannot recommend this service center and strongly urge others to reconsider taking their vehicle here. More
Changed the name, but they sold me a car $4000 over sticker (something of a above manufacturer price?) Then they failed to refund my down payment, I had to call my bank to stop payment! sticker (something of a above manufacturer price?) Initially, it was a decent experience. Wide selection (although all Sorentos were fitted with the lines across each side of the car, which I did not want). Salesperson was friendly and hel Wide selection (although all Sorentos were fitted with the lines across each side of the car, which I did not want). Salesperson was friendly and helpful. Test drive was pleasant. Then we got the first offer from the dealership, marked up $4k above MSRP. For a Telluride, I might have expected that, but for a Sorento, not so much. We were friendly and tried to discuss this with the manager there. He was extremely insulting toward our thoughts, and decided to use traditional high pressure tactics, speaking with a loud voice and repeating, “Well make me an offer, then!!” And trust me, we were attempting to calmly communicate and negotiate, but he wasn’t having it. I wasn’t going to stick around for more verbal abuse and condescension. We left and went down the road to the Hyundai dealer. Ended up having an amazing experience there and got a Palisade, a larger car from the sister company with more bells and whistles, for LESS than their Sorento offer. Needless to say, I’ll never come back to Gateway Kia in Denville, and will never recommend that anyone else goes there either. More
Would give this dealership 0 stars if possible. I won’t speak for the sales representatives but I will speak about the service department. Took the car in for an oil change and something that neede I won’t speak for the sales representatives but I will speak about the service department. Took the car in for an oil change and something that needed to be fixed for a Kia recall. After they “fixed” that my girlfriend was allowed to take her car to leave. After leaving, the brakes barely worked. After bringing it back, they couldn’t find a rental car for me to use. Now, 3 days after having the car back. The check engine light is flashing and the car won’t accelerate over 40 MPH. Essentially what was supposed to be an oil change and a fixed recall problem, now has turned into a much bigger issue and the car is unsafe to drive. Do not trust these guys, they clearly don’t know what they are doing More
Had a 7. 30am appointment to do complimentary oil change and to do 2 recall repairs. I dropped off the car night beforehand and left keys and instructions on s 30am appointment to do complimentary oil change and to do 2 recall repairs. I dropped off the car night beforehand and left keys and instructions on service desk. After no word from them at 10.30 I called. 20 minutes later I got through! I was told my name was not on the schedule, I make appointment 3 weeks prior and got a reminder text 2days prior. 2 pm Bryan told me they are working on it and that recall repairs take a long time. Bryan called back at 4.30 to say car was ready. When I got there at 5 service department was closed ( supposed to be open until 7) . Found out he didn't do fire hazard recall and never said a word. 9 hours for an oil change and car wash. I have purchased 3 car's from gateway never going back. More
0 STARS. Buyers be aware of scamming at this place!!!!. I found a used vehicle on their site. Please see the picture listed on their site as my proof. I calle Buyers be aware of scamming at this place!!!!. I found a used vehicle on their site. Please see the picture listed on their site as my proof. I called them and spoke with the person name Kevin e sales. I confirmed with Kevin the availability of the vehicle and the price. When I came to the dealership I was greeted by a person name Mike. I showed Mike the listing and the price of the vehicle. I had to wait about 30 minutes until they got the keys so I could take the car for a test drive. When I returned to the dealership I advised Mike that I like the vehicle and ready to pay cash for it. He appeared hesitant to confirm the listed price and went to speak with the manager. After another 20 minutes of my time Mike returned and gave me absolutely a different price which was at around $17,500. I told him that I don't understand why the price of the vehicle is different than the one listed on their site. Mike also said that they made a mistake and listed a wrong price. I told Mike that I called and confirmed the vehicle price and also showed Mike the vehicle and the price upon my arrival to the dealership.i told then that I felt scammed and my time waisted for 2 hours. Very bad business. Stay away from these people More
Service is horrible. They had the inventory of cars I wanted so I gave them a try. They have to goto a single person for all information. No computers on desk. They screw They had the inventory of cars I wanted so I gave them a try. They have to goto a single person for all information. No computers on desk. They screwed up the times that I would get the car and never called telling me my plates were in. I spent 1/2 hour trying to get someone and 4 transfers before I decided to just go over to the dealer in person. The excuses were provided at each turn, but all were clearly lies. I would not go back EVER again. More
Made an appointment specifically to drive a Kia Niro EV discussed over the phone with the Internet Sales coordinator. She told me they had one i could test drive and told me to talk with Garrett, the sales discussed over the phone with the Internet Sales coordinator. She told me they had one i could test drive and told me to talk with Garrett, the sales manager. I got there and NO CAR!! Don't tell me you have one when you don't. Instead, tell me you don't have one and call me back when you do, so we can schedule something then. If they want to get you to the dealership, that's a bad sales tactic. I immediately left after choice words and will never go back there. Take your business to a dealership that shows respect for the customer's time. (We didn't have a salesperson, didn't get that far, but I had to choose from a list of names, so sorry, Frank) More
I own a 2017 Kia Soul, and I really liked my car until it began to have problems. My "Check Engine Light" was giving me nightmares. I took it to Gateway Kia of Denville, NJ, and Bryan in the Service departme began to have problems. My "Check Engine Light" was giving me nightmares. I took it to Gateway Kia of Denville, NJ, and Bryan in the Service department was assigned as my 'Point of Contact.' I called Bryan at least two or three times a week to check on how my car was doing. Bryan was always kind and professional. After two weeks, Bryan told me that my car needed a new engine. After doing some research online, I knew this was going to be the prognosis. Timing was the pressing issue. Bryan said that Corporate Kia in California needed to approve the new engine, and they were requiring that my car be put through test after test to prove that my car did, in fact, need a new engine. Weeks turned into two and a half months, and I was without a car. Bryan said that it wasn't Gateway's policy to give 'Loaner Cars' to customers until my brother, who is a well-spoken, seasoned businessman, called Bryan and stepped in as my advocate. Within one day, Bryan gave me a 'Loaner Car' and called to tell me that my car would be getting a new engine compliments of Kia. The whole process took three months, but now I have my 2017 Kia Soul back with a new engine, and it's running like a dream . . . no more nightmares! Thanks to my brother and Bryan who did, in fact, always answer the phone and talk to me in a very polite, kind, and professional manner. All is well when it ends well! More
