I am writing to tell everyone about my complete disgust and disappoint with Garlyn Shelton Volkswagon/ Volvo Care of Temple and Service Advisor, Amiee Hunter. In November 2023, I took my car to Garlyn and disappoint with Garlyn Shelton Volkswagon/ Volvo Care of Temple and Service Advisor, Amiee Hunter. In November 2023, I took my car to Garlyn Shelton Volkswagon/ Volvo Care of Temple to have the pistons replaced. This was after they had previously recently seen my car twice already – 1) for a 60,000 mile check up where I paid over $500 for service and 2) to check a gas cap light and battery light where I paid over $400. While my car was there the third time, I mentioned that the tailgate was not working well. The staff told me that they would look at it, and I asked if it was going to cost more money, They said yes, since they hadn’t looked at that specific issue any of the earlier times I was in. Amiee Hunter, Service Advisor, told me the cost to diagnose would be $95.00. The next day, Amiee called and told me that the tailgate was going to cost $270 to repair. I asked her then if she was going to charge that to me in addition to the $95.00 and she said no, that the total cost was going to be $270 (including the cost to diagnose). I approved the repair. A week later, I went to pick up my car and was then told the total charge for the tailgate repair was $499.40. When I questioned the excess charge, the service person (not Amiee Hunter) told me that it was $189.95 to just diagnose the car, and the balance was to complete the repair. I asked to speak to Amiee, but the person said she was not available to speak in person. She called Amiee and Amiee said she never told me that it would cost $270 total, but that she told me it would cost $499. Because I was in a rental, I basically had to pay the $499 to get my car or I would have had to leave and return the next day, incurring another day of rental car fee. The next day, I called back to talk with Amiee and asked her why she quoted me $270 over the phone and she told me she didn’t say that. I told her I was going to make a complaint and hung up. She called back after that and agreed to refund $95 of the original $499.40, saying she has made an error in charging me. I am extremely unhappy with their service for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I am extremely unhappy with the tone and manner in which Amiee spoke to me and the fact that she quoted me a lower price on the phone and then lied and said she didn’t. Had she told me the correct total price, I would have likely declined the repair since the tailgate issue was only intermittent. Additionally, Amiee treated me as if I were old and incompetent, of which I am neither and seemed to disrespect me because of my ethnicity and the fact that English is not my native language. Lastly, all of this occurred AFTER a 60,000 check up *and* having my car already several weeks at this point for other repairs. At this point, I have no faith or confidence in Garlyn Shelton and am questioning using their company for future service. More

Not only did he solve a heavy financial burden tied to the other used car, but he found me a new friend. A lovely 2015 Volve XC 60. She is a joy to drive, and the inside is like new. I will never buy another car at any other dealer, but Garlyn Shelton and Mike will always be my go-to guy. Thank you again for making my stormy day turn into a sunny breeze. More
Poor communications. I normally take my Volvo to Austin who could not get me an appointment for weeks. I had an extended Volvo warranty which has to be done at the dealership so I drove to Temple. This i who could not get me an appointment for weeks. I had an extended Volvo warranty which has to be done at the dealership so I drove to Temple. This is a small new dealership but doesn't seem to understand about communicating with the customer. I took my car in for two error messages to be diagnosed under warranty. They needed parts for one repair and decided the other repair wasn't covered under warranty. They charged me for the diagnosis without notifying me there could be any charge. Very disappointed. More
I have owned Three Volvo’s and still own one. Service dept.-I have always had excellent service. They have always been fast, do great work, knowledgeable, explain things clearly, friendly, caring. This was the worst experience ever on the service side of Garlyn Shelton Volvo. We are new to the area, and a check engine light went on in our Volvo. we called to see if there was a drop box for after hour Garlyn Shelton Volvo. The girl at the other end of the line said, no, there wasn't. So we made arrangements to accommodate our work schedule to drop it off when they were open, low and behold, there WAS a drop box. After they serviced it, we asked if we can pay over the phone and retrieve the car after hours. Girl said nope, can't take payments over the phone. Well, you guessed it, they did. Trying to get ahold of a live person to speak to is like pulling teeth. First 3 calls to the 800 that was listed on their webpage that I searched for on my phone was some sort of telemarketing scheme. I finally talked to a gal, she connected me to the service dept. and then to a voice mail. Turns out when I asked for a manager because I was so dang frustrated, I was connected to his VM, he left for the day. Back to square one and call them again. Get another girl, tell he I NEED to speak to a person, she cut me off and, you guessed it, voice mail again. What a complete s**t show! After 6 phone calls, I finally got someone to call back, but they didn't call the number I requested, they called my husband, who was at work. Someone needs some customer service training badly. We won't be returning to this dealership. Any suggestions to where we can take our Volvo for needed service. To add insult to injury, they forgot to put the updated oil change sticker on..Oy Vey! More
Very accomadating and friendly staff I visited this dealership initially to purchase a BMW, but found that I liked the Volvo better. The salesman was not pushy nor did he try to guide me toward a certain vehicle. Once all of the paperwork was finalized there was a bit of a wait, but I was offered food and a drink. My overall experience there, so far has been pretty good. More

Embarrassed to be a Volvo Customer after this experience Much like the other review, I had an absolutely terrible experience twice now at this dealership, and it as well has to do with the service department Much like the other review, I had an absolutely terrible experience twice now at this dealership, and it as well has to do with the service department. I brought my vehicle in for a scheduled maintenance, which I called to set up weeks in advance and requested a loaner car/Volvo to drive while my car was being serviced. The lady on the phone, said that would be fine. I also informed her that I was having an issue with my seat lumbar control area and that a new housing was needed. This was discovered when I was in Houston and had to take my Volvo in for a new tire after a blowout. The service technician at MOMENTUM VOLVO of Houston was absolutely wonderful and informed me of the issue with my lumbar and told me if I were in town for one more day he would have it fixed next day under warranty. 1st Visit Arrival When I arrived for my first visit to Garlyn Shelton in Temple, my Volvo loaner was not available, but instead I was given a dirty Mazda that had not been cleaned and had less that 12 miles till empty on the digital gauge. It took forever to get signed in at the service desk, and the part I requested had not been ordered. On this visit I also requested that my car get inspected as I had just moved to the area and my inspection was scheduled to go expire. I explained this to the service clown, and he told me not a problem. When I returned that evening to pick up my car, the seat was not fixed and I was told I would have to schedule another visit and the part had been ordered, but the did not know when it would come in. My inspection was also not completed because "The previous inspection was done in a different county with emissions and we don't have emissions testing here." Hello, I just informed you I moved to this county, and my license and insurance are through this county. 2nd Visit I went to have my seat lumbar installed that I had ordered. It took me two months to get back to the dealership to get the lumbar housing installed due to the fact that this is a rural area and I travel for work. When I arrived at the dealership I checked in my car and of course, no loaner vehicle was available. (I was not surprised). After about 20 minutes the service advisor informed me they no longer had the part and that they had shipped it back to where they received it from. He had no desire to help me out what-so-ever. This dealership has provided not one, but two terrible customer experiences and quite honestly makes me not want to buy a Volvo if I can't get service at the dealership nearest to me. More
Volvo of Temple Service is a Bad Joke I am from New Braunfels. I was in Temple for 7 days and thought I had a bad bearing on my rear left side. I went online at about 3am Monday March 16, I am from New Braunfels. I was in Temple for 7 days and thought I had a bad bearing on my rear left side. I went online at about 3am Monday March 16, 2015 to schedule service for my Volvo. I set up an appt. for Wednesday March 18th at 7:30am. I received 2 emails from Garlyn Shelton Volvo of Temple reminding me of my scheduled appointment. Since I had an early appointment Wednesday morning, I decided to call on the afternoon of March 17th (Tuesday) see if I could drop my car off that evening. A female named Karen or Taren answered my call. When I told her I had an appointment early the next morning, but wanted to drop my car off after hours, she informed me that I did not have an appointment. She did some searching and then told me that I had picked a tech that no longer worked there. I informed Karen/Taren that I didn't pick a tech because I have no idea who the techs are. She put me on hold and came back on the line to tell me that they couldn't honor my appointment. Now I'm stuck driving back to new Braunfels (a 2 hour drive) with a bearing problem. I went ahead and made a service appointment with Volvo of San Antonio. Volvo of San Antonio is a real dealership with service people who really care about their customers. I have NEVER seen such a poor excuse for service. These folks make shade tree mechanics look great!!! More
