For anyone concerned, considering or questioning the Family Plan, read this in entirety: I took my 2022 Camry in for my 30,000 mile service on 4/2/24. I have the Family Plan, which is advertised as "lifetime oil changes" and tire rotations. So far I have not been charged anything at all. Today I was quoted $178 for my 30,000 mile service. Only difference? Adding a RECOMMENDED engine air filter and cabin air filter to the car. My advisor was Elizabeth and I spoke to her about my concern with the price and how it didn't make any sense at all. I was told that the family plan does cover the oil changes and tire rotations, but it doesn't cover additional services. I would have to pay out of pocket for additional services. Asking to do it without additional services I was then told in order to keep the family plan, which I paid over $700 for, I HAVE to purchase the additional services they recommend or else my ENTIRE FAMILY PLAN IS VOID. So she said that since I am not doing the RECOMMENDED air cabin filter change, then I have to pay out of pocket for the oil change.Voided for not taking filters? Are you serious? I asked why specifically the filters are required and I was told it was part of Toyota's service interval. I get that then, fully fine to recommend changing it if that's the interval Toyota recommends it. But what I don't get is why is purchasing services at RECOMMENDED intervals REQUIRED to keep my Family Plan? I pressed about my concern and frustration but Elizabeth wasn't helpful at all in escalating or dissuading my concern and not presenting great service. So if I am not paying for oil changes and tire rotations that means I am solely paying for the filters and labor. The labor rate for a 30,000 mile service is 0.9 hours. I also know that a 10,000 mile service; an oil change and tire rotation is 0.6 hours. That means I am paying for 0.3 hours of labor and 2 filters for a 30,000 mile service. From similar dealerships I know the hourly labor rate is around $150/hour. Let's say Toyota of Charleston's is $175/hour to play it safe. So I'm paying roughly $50 in labor alone for the 30,000 mile service, and I'm also paying for 2 filters that go $17.99 for an engine air filter, and $23.99 for a cabin air filter at AutoZone. I know OEM filters are more but you would think their prices are competitive. So circling it back, for my 30,000 mile service we have: $50 in labor, less than $50 in parts + let's say 9% in taxes so about $110 total. That means in service fees, and markups I an paying an additional $40-$65 now. Let me make it clear: I am getting charged $40-$65 in service markups and fees, on top of a $110 service for 2 filters totaling a $178 quote, that I am REQUIRED to purchase; all because I paid $700 for a plan that advertises coverage of oil changes and tire rotations for life. I get that additional services, which are more expensive, are needed on the vehicle and that I will need them performed at some point; all at their respective intervals and they are not free. But why massively advertise your whole company with this amazing "Family Plan" that doesn't even give you the option to take additional RECOMMENDED services at your own convenience or discretion. I get now AFTER my frustrating service experience that it is in my contract for the Family Plan to take these additional recommended services, but The Family Plan's advertising is massively MISLEADING to say the least. The sales people will shove the Family Plan down your throat until you sign off on a car at their above MSRP price. Steer clear of the Family Plan at all costs and just go to places like Take 5 or Geralds for basic services. If you can't purchase a car at Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston without taking the Family Plan, then take your business elsewhere as you are now signing yourself up to pay more in the long run. The advertisement on a helpful plan is a joke from sales; and the help, reasoning and assistance from service Dept. is pitiful. More

Bill Depriest and Chivas Porter always go the extra mile! I have several kids and cars and whenever I have an issue they are as concerned as if their daughters were driving the cars. Great job team! Everything! I chose to call to schedule an appointment & am grateful I did. Elizabeth checked my car in & bless her, asked if I wanted my car washed. How did she I chose to call to schedule an appointment & am grateful I did. Elizabeth checked my car in & bless her, asked if I wanted my car washed. How did she know that was on my list to do?! I asked for a recommendation of where to eat lunch {I drove almost 2 hours to get to your service center} and she recommended a delicious Irish place a 3 minute walk away. Thus I barely noticed the wait time as I was enjoying lunch. The mechanic sent me an easy to hear video review of his thorough check, with the stats {though I don't know what the numbers mean lol}. All in all, a positive experience supporting my choice to purchse my car from Anderson Toyota & drive 2 hours each way for service. Thank You! More

Chivas is the first employee I have dealt with in years who actually took the time to explain things to me and treated me as a human and not a purse. The rest of the employees in the service department co who actually took the time to explain things to me and treated me as a human and not a purse. The rest of the employees in the service department could all benefit from following Chavis’s lead as he is Fred Anderson’s gem and a true asset. The service shop and Fred Anderson on the other hand is disappointing at best. You nickel and dime for everything. You do unnecessary work without prior approval. I have had numerous issues with Fred Anderson over my 10 years of being their customer and will not be using them anymore for anything other than my free oil changes which really are not free. I’ve been a loyal customer and only ever had a service or any work done on my vehicle at this location and you would think I was a beggar off of the streets asking for change. I requested my locks be looked at as my key fob was not locking nor unlocking my doors as well as not working from my door panel unless the car was cranked. I suspected it was a blown fuse or an issue with my ECU and not an actuator issue as none of the doors were working to include my rear door. They immediately told me it was a key fob issue and recommended a new key be cut and chip be made which is BIG money. Luckily I knew it was not a fob issue and asked chevis to ask the foreman to investigate further. They wanted to then charge me an additional $350 to investigate further which would only be to diagnose not to fix. I’m so disappointed in them and unfortunately this was the final straw for me. Thankfully Chavis voided the initial $105 diagnosis as I was never given an official diagnosis. More
