Dear James, Thank you for reaching out. I’m happy to share what happened. As I mentioned in my post, I had a very disappointing experience. I came in in good faith and purchased a 2025 Toyota RAV4 with approximately 3,000 miles that had always been in the dealership’s possession. For all practical purposes, the vehicle was presented as “like new.” During the purchase process, everything proceeded normally, and I signed the papers in less than one hour. However, things changed when I declined the additional coverage options. I repeatedly declined for over 10 minutes, telling the associate that I did not plan to buy the coverage they offer, before the associate finally allowed us to continue with the purchase. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the unsolicited pressure to add coverage. When I returned on April 4, 2026, to pick up the vehicle, I discovered that the windshield was cracked. I immediately informed the team and explained that I had not noticed the crack prior to delivery, even after test-driving the vehicle for about ten minutes the day before. The response I received was that the crack was “already there” and that the dealership was not obligated to point out defects because the vehicle was being sold as used. Again, this is a 2025 vehicle with about 3,000 miles that had been in the dealership’s possession and was presented as essentially like-new. I’m sharing this to document what happened and to encourage the dealership to handle situations like this more professionally, both in terms of sales pressure and in ensuring that the vehicle’s condition is properly disclosed and addressed before delivery.
