Typical dealership games and a missed opportunity Fowler Toyota Norman: Typical dealership jargon "market based pricing" which means the "retail" price they post is fictitious and well over the actual Fowler Toyota Norman: Typical dealership jargon "market based pricing" which means the "retail" price they post is fictitious and well over the actual retail value on KBB or CARFAX. Typically trade-ins are marked up 20 - 30%, not at Fowler, try over 50% which helps explain why they have to fabricate that fictitious retail value. Here is the twist with the Norman dealership; they had the opportunity to help the Fowler Toyota Tulsa store rectify the abysmal experience I had with them when they had me drive 3 hours to Tulsa for an FJ they knew they didn't have (it was at Norman Fowler 30 minutes away) and tried to sell me a different one. Tulsa called Norman and asked to help make things right, sales manager Jay Wilson declined preferring to try and gouge a 45% profit on the FJ that he has priced 2k over actual retail. I know what they gave in trade for the FJ so I know the margin. Tack onto that the ludicrous $399 doc fee; the dealerships will tell you they are forced to charge you this due to state law which is partially true, a doc fee is required by law but the amount is set by the dealerships not by the state which is why you see variances between dealers of several hundred dollars. In the end Fowler had an opportunity to turn a customer's very bad experience into a win-win for everyone resulting in Fowler making a profit well within what is typical and putting me into an FJ at a reasonable price even if was still over actual retail (not their fake one). So instead of getting a good review from a happy customer about a wrong made right they get this one. This was my Tulsa review: After watching an '08 FJ Cruiser on the Tulsa Folwer Toyota site for about a week I used the 'check availability' button to schedule a test drive for that specific vehicle. I live outside Okc, they are in Tulsa, meaning a 3 hour round trip not counting time wasted at the dealership. In three emails 'Cheyenne' the "Business Development Agent (Tulsa)" confirms they have the FJ and asks if I know where "they" are located, not the FJ, "they". I arrive at the dealership and am greeted by a young salesman I'll call 'Slim'. Told Slim I'd gone through Cheyenne so he runs off to find her only to return explaining her position (he didn't know that beforehand?) and that he will be helping me. He asks if I am there for the tan FJ, no, the black one. He says that one is in Norman...30 minutes from where I work versus a 3 hour drive!!! Slim tries to offer me what amounts to 1/2 a tank of gas and to arrange the financing (self-serving just a bit are we?) to make it up to me for the wasted trip. I ignore it and ask for a manager so he trots off and a few moments later I see him pulling the tan FJ around front, then comes back with a another guy he introduces as a manager whose entire demeanor the entire time came across as disingenuous. We'll call this guy 'Oblivious'. Oblivious apologizes (unconvincingly) for the 'confusion' and again offers to show me the tan FJ, offers the same 1/2 tank a gas Slim offered and bumps it to a full tank when I was vocally dissatisfied with his BS resolution. Oblivious then makes a show of explaining that they do not lure customers into their store under false pretenses with the intent to sell them something else, something I hadn't alluded to. I told them I typically write 3 reviews each time I visit a dealership and theirs was going poorly at which point he asks "but Slim and I will get a good one right"? He felt his pathetic attempts at 'making it right' deserved a glowing review, again, self-serving. Pro tip: if you're going to scam and deceive people for a living you'd better learn to read your mark before pulling your BS because one size routine does not fit all. Bottom line is I'm pretty convinced I was brought into that dealership with the intent to try and sell me a different FJ than the one I specially asked for and steal a sale from the Norman store, everything about that experience was shady. The fact that they immediately went out and moved the tan FJ back as I was trying to leave the lot tends to reinforce this. More

The day I purchased the car the touchscreen wasn't working so I had to bring the car back the next day. The car was ready on the 2nd day so I picked it up that evening (Friday). Saturday I get up to take the car for a drive and I noticed mix matched tires. This is a 2015 Cadillac ATS with 18000 miles. Why are the tires mix matched? I also noticed the hood was covered in scratches. It looked like someone had something abrasive and put swirls all over the hood! Its terrible! There is no way had I saw that when I test drove the car I definitely would not have bought it. The car is black so there is no way I would've saw that on the night i drove it home. I called my salesman and he said didn't you see that when you test drove the car? The key fob they gave me doesn't work or it doesn't go to that vehicle. I've never been so frustrated in my life. Fowler Toyota needs to make this right. More
