I had to schedule three times, the last time was on the wrong day than what I was told. My vehicle said “dynamic torque system” needs updating. When I looked this up it stated I could need a new battery, a wrong day than what I was told. My vehicle said “dynamic torque system” needs updating. When I looked this up it stated I could need a new battery, a new auto start/stop battery, and a system update. I showed the advisor who stated they didn’t know what that was, and it probably needed a new battery. Day 1 battery was replaced, and I was told they thought something else was wrong with but couldn’t find it so I was good to go. My jeep was dead the next morning. Day two, my auxiliary battery was replaced and my new battery was recharged. They still seemed not 100% sure my vehicle was fixed. The advisor gave me the number for a tow under warranty, put air in my tires, and was a salesman type nice. More

I had a recall letter for my car I received in July from Kia and called to set up an appointment. First person I spoke to tried to tell me I didn't have a recall on my car in which I asked why I would recei Kia and called to set up an appointment. First person I spoke to tried to tell me I didn't have a recall on my car in which I asked why I would receive a letter from Kia with my vehicle Vin number saying it did have a recall. That person looked it up and sure enough I did have a recall. The person who sets up appointments was not there so I left a voice mail. They never called me back. Last week (week of August 16th) my alternator went out on my car. I thought about the recall still not fixed and figured I would just have Patterson do the recall and then I would pay whatever it was for the alternator. Two birds one stone, right? So I set up the appointmentment for the nearest date (August 26th). Upon arriving for my 8 am appointment, Jaynie took care of checking in my car. I asked about them fixing the alternator and she stated it wasn't there and then found it on a second page on her tablet. She said a diagnostic test is $130 and I told her I just needed the alternator replaced. I had already had someone do a battery and alternator test before coming to Patterson and they had told me both were bad. I told her no for the diagnostic. She said it may be until Monday when they could finish my car due to ordering an alternator I said that's fine just let me know a price by calling me first. When I left around 8:30 in the shuttle to take me home my car was still sitting in the waiting area of the service center. 9:30 am I'm home and receive a call from Jayne. She says it will be $1,070 for my alternator to be replaced. $500 and something for the alternator and then 3 hours of labor. I knew something was wrong with that price so I said I would think about it and call her back to let her know yes or no, but to just work on the recall for now. I have a friend in Washington state that is a certified Hyundai/Kia mechanic so I contacted him to see if that price was fair. He told me they were screwing me over and sent me the pictures from their book on how long an alternator change should be. By Kia's book an alternator change should take a max of 1.2 hours and the kia factory alternator is $520.30. So they were charging me double the the labor it should take. I called Jaynie back and told her no do not do the alternator, I would find another mechanic. She told me I would have a total of $130 when I picked up my car. I asked why since I stated no to the diagnostic before and she was suppose to call me with a price for the alternator work before starting. She stated they worked on my car for an hour. I replied you did not call me and tell me a price first, I will not pay that, because the only thing you should've done was work on the recall until I said ok to the price. She removed the $130 from my bill. Later, my car is ready. I ask them to jump start it for me and leave to goto walmart to claim the warranty on my battery so it's fixed before I take it to another mechanic. Walmart tells me I'm missing a bolt from my battery plate. Only people who have messed with the battery and the plate be missing were Patterson and Walmart. Literally had to jumpstart my car anytime to drive it, the plate was there. Anyways I find it horrible that a dealership would overcharge labor to customers. To change an alternator in a 2015 Kia optima takes max an hour youtube has a quick tutorial even. You remove 3 bolts. Take off the belt. Undo the connectors. Once everything is disconnected take the old alternator out. Put in the new and reconnect everything and put the belt back in place and bolts. By Kia's book it takes 1.2 hours for labor, yet yall were going to charge me for 3 hours of labor and added cost to the alternator part itself. I've already gone to social media to warn about how yall do business to let others in wichita falls know. I will never use yall for anything other than the recall work yall are required to do from corporate Kia and I hope this post will help others. Sidenote: got my car fixed and the mechanic had a bolt that fit for my battery plate. For $168. Much better than $1,070. Better when google says it should cost $500-$600 ish for an alternator for my car and then yall jack it up to $1070. ($520.30 + $156 = $676.30) I was even ready to pay that no problem, but now they've lost my business fully. More
