unsatisfactory service from service dept Recently on Sept. 5th I had a experience with Ford of Port Richey’s Service Dept that I am not happy with. I have a 2012 Ford Fusion and a few days Recently on Sept. 5th I had a experience with Ford of Port Richey’s Service Dept that I am not happy with. I have a 2012 Ford Fusion and a few days before that my car would not start and upon my looking under the hood I saw battery acid sprayed all over the interior under the hood. I got someone to take me to Ford of Port Richey and purchased a new battery for $141.72 which I then installed at home with the help of a neighbor. After installing the new battery I had noticed all the media such as radio, clock. voice command, etc, would not work at all. No power to them it appeared. I figured that was something I would have looked at later when I had more time. However, after driving a day and half with the new battery once again my car would not start. I called a tow service to come jump our car to the tune of $64. After jumping the battery the service guy asked me to let him look to see if maybe I had left something on. He gave the car a careful going over and said nothing had been left on and he did not have a clue why this new battery failed to start the car that morning. I immediately drove it over to the Ford of Port Richey Service Dept and explained what had happened to them. They promptly said that I had to have left something on to cause the battery to fail because it was already showing a full charge and I only lived 4 miles away. I very emphatically denied leaving anything on because I have always been extra diligent about such as that. I then told them about all the media not working since my original battery failed and sprayed acid all over. I explained that though I had a new battery they still appeared to still not have power. I asked if perhaps the problem might be a fuse that blew when my original battery went out. The service advisor said there was not a fuse for the radio so that was not the problem. I then told him I had studied the car manual and thought I saw in it there was a fuse for the radio. Once again I was told there was not a fuse for the radio and I would need to leave it with them for the rest of the day. I had left my manual at home where I had been reading it so could not show him the page I had just read about the radio fuse. I left the vehicle and when I arrive back around five they told me my radio needed an ACM module which cost $658. Plus tax. I declined having any of this done at the present time because I never used the radio and it was not a priority for me. I paid $118.71 for the day’s services from them. At this point I felt I was going to go broke and still had an undependable vehicle. The next day my husband and I evacuated to middle GA because of Hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida. 24 hours after arriving in Middle GA once again my car would not start. I called my son in law to come jump the battery for me. Before he jumped the battery I got out my car manual and found the page where it told me that the fuse/relay location for the radio was at 39. I then asked him to pull this fuse and lets look at it. Yep, the wire in that fuse was broken completely in the center. After replacing this fuse he then jumped the battery and not only did my car start but so did the radio, voice command, blue tooth and clock. That was five weeks ago and all are still working beautifully as well as the car battery has not failed since then. This incident makes me livid. My husband is 84 years old and very sick. I am the primary care giver for him as well as our entire household. I felt very vulnerable to be fleeing from a hurricane in a car that appeared to be undependable even after taking to a Ford dealers service dept for battery problems. I am a 73 year old female who has never worked on a car a day in my life and cannot help but wonder why I knew to look in my auto manual and see there was indeed a fuse for the radio and professional Ford repair technicians did not know to check fuses first? That one thing would have saved me a lot of anguish wondering if my car was going to start the next time after I turned it off. I also wonder how many folks have paid approximately 700 dollars to have their car media repaired when they really only needed a fuse. Since arriving back home I found a very nice young man who runs an independent car repair in Hudson. He felt sorry for me after hearing my tale of woe and has not only run diagnostics on my car (everything was fine) but cleaned all the battery acid from wires and post that had been sprayed when the original battery went out. He then coated everything with a protectant to prevent future damage. He found one other fuse that he replaced and then proclaimed everything good to go with no expense to me though I did insist on tipping him. I now feel safe when I drive my car but not safe enough to take it back to the Ford of Port Richey Service Dept. More

A Car Guy's Car Guy Steve has been the overseer of the care provided to our Mustangs since my wife and I bought our Shelby GT500 and BOSS 302 new in the spring of 2012. Steve has been the overseer of the care provided to our Mustangs since my wife and I bought our Shelby GT500 and BOSS 302 new in the spring of 2012. Now five years later, we would never even consider taking them anywhere else. I luckily found Steve quite by accident as I wandered into the Service Department looking to have the Track Key activated on my BOSS 302 about a week after purchasing it. I was quickly told "Go see Steve. He is our High Performance Guy". Truer words were never spoken and now he faithfully takes care of our small fleet of vehicles. If honesty, courtesy, professionalism, knowledge, and a genuine love of cars are traits that you seek in a Service Advisor - then go see Steve. He's your guy. More
