Superior Customer Service While visiting my sister who was a patient at Duke Hospital I was placed in a situation to require the services of Southern States Volkswagon. It was 5:00 on a Tuesday afternoon when the valets told me my car wouldn't start and the battery was now dead. When I got to the car to check it out, they had tried so many times to start it, that the security lock out was enabled. I called my local dealership to see if there was anything I could do to bypass and they confirmed the car would have to be towed to the nearest dealership to be reset. I called Southern States VW (I'm ready to have a melt down at this point as I am supposed to be headed back to South Carolina for work the next day). Ronnie answered the phone in the service department and was immediately calming and reassuring that he would do everything he could to get my issue resolved and offered several options to try to get me back home that day. He stated he would even stay until my car arrived as there was a hour delay on the tow truck due to high volume at that time. He went as far as trying to get one of the service guys to come back to take care of the problem that afternoon. When we finally got there at 5:55, Ronnie was waiting, with a smile and a do not worry, we will get you taken care of. He even made sure I got back to Duke after the car was checked in. The next morning Ronnie calls first thing and says they have gotten eveything corrected on my car, (even the additional key that I had been told could not be programmed), for the minimal charge quoted. I live 5 hours from Durham and have never been to that dealership. The customer service I received was second to none even though I have never been to that dealership before, I was treated as a priority and with kindness. Thank you Ronnie and the entire service crew, you go above and beyond and it shows. The residents of your service area are fotunate to have a service team like yourselves! I was lead into this dealership with a written quote for a 2014 Passat SE which Keith Hutchins provided me. I was further baited into coming there late Friday night as another person was looking at purchasi a 2014 Passat SE which Keith Hutchins provided me. I was further baited into coming there late Friday night as another person was looking at purchasing the very vehicle of interest to me. Later I found they were interested in a white Passat not the gray one I was interested in at all. Further they were going to trade in the same vehicle as I had. Coincidence - no! Clever - no! Poor sales and business practice - YES! I went there with the intent to purchase a new vehicle. Once I showed up Keith was assisting another customer so an absolutely wonderful woman named Jessica Else helped me. We took the vehicle for a test drive and she pointed out features that amazed me. Jessica knew things about engines and cars that would make many men uncomfortable. She is truly an asset and her sparkling personality in unrivaled. Now back to the deal promised me which was in writing! After the test drive Keith dives in to close the deal. He is a polished, slick forked tongued salesman which belongs on some cheap used car lot! First order of business is that there was an error in the quote due to their new CRM system and the WRITTEN quote with an MSRP of $23,135, internet discount of $2,500 leaving a purchase price of $20,635 is now $3000 higher!!! Guess what they offer me for my 2003 Acura MDX as trade - yep - $3000 and that was generous according to Keith! I told him that I expected the WRITTEN quote offered me and that legally they are bound by it. Otherwise isn't this bait and switch or fraud? Keith immediately defended and explained to me "No, fraud is when ..." he should know!! I told him I was done; thanks for wasting my time! Where are my keys? I shook Jessica's hand and thanked her for being such a pleasure. If anyone wants a VW please do NOT use this dealership!!! If there is one snake and liar there I would expect many!! Southern States VW of Durham operates in a less than professional or ethical manner. Please run! You have been warned. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well. On another note, while the Passat was nice it is definitely not the same class of vehicle as an Acura. More
