I took my 2005 Nissan X-Terra in for a factory recall on a minor part as well as a check engine light. The service depratment said it would take around 1.5-2 hrs. 4 hrs later, I called back to the shop. a minor part as well as a check engine light. I finally picked it up almost 7 hours after dropping it off, when I was told that my secondary timing chain needed replacement and it would cost approximately $1,600.00. I chose not to have the repair done then due to the poor service I received that day. After researching, I found the problem was common in X-Terras and although Nissan had a service bulletin out on it, they would not cover any part of the repair. I took the vehicle back to Five Star for the repair, which was supposed to take one day, possibly not being ready for me until the end of the day or "at the latest" the next morning. When I asked for a loaner vehicle (something any decent shop willingly provides, in my experience), I was at first refused, with the service department attempting to press me into renting a vehicle from them at a cost of $35.00 per day. I had to negotiate with them at length to provide a loaner, which they eventually did. I received no phone call the entire day as to the status of my vehicle. When I called the next morning, they could not provide me an estimated completion time. I made repeated calles throughout the day inquiring as to the status, but got no estimated completion time until approximately 3:00pm, when they said the vehicle would be ready at 5:45pm and I needed to pick up my vehicle no later than 6:00pm the same day. That didn't work for my schedule, but they were firm that I needed to be there at 6:00pm. I finally spoke with Tim (another rep) who worked with me on the pickup time and attempted to make up for the poor service with some coupons. I was happy with this resolution and picked the car up that evening. As soon as I pulled away, I noticed a very loud squealing from the engine compartment. I attempted to bring the vehicle back that night, but their service staff had gone home and they couldn't do anything until the next morning. I brought it back this morning (30 March 2011) and spoke with the service manager, Clay, who agreed to take the vehicle into service immediately, provide me a loaner, and "make it right" through an unspecified incentive or other option. I took the loaner and made it to work, at which time they called me back saying the squealing came from a belt (unrelated to the repair they performed) and they had replaced it for free. This was their way of "making it right" although the belt had never made a noise before I brought it in. Additionally, the "problem" belt had to be removed and put back on as part of the repair I originally took it in for, so they either caused the problem or completely overlooked it while doing the 2-day long repair I brought it in for. Clay offered no additional incentive to make up for the poor service and lost time I spent dealing with this issue. I have never written a review of any company or service until now. This was the single worst service experience I have had in any type of customer service environment. Not only have they lost my business forever, I will recommend anyone to avoid their service department. I have seen a few other reviews stating Five Star is simply out for your money and I agree. We purchased a New Nissan Altima 3.5SR. We closed the deal on the car on March 19th 2011. We test drove the car and liked the Altima very much. We experience several problems during the purchasing process. 1. We were told after we had agreeded to purchase the vehicle that the second set of keys and the owner's manual were missplaced. We were told to come Monday March 21st and the keys and the manual would be there for us to pick up. We had to make a second trip that same day to get the manual and the second set of keys. We had to wait until Saturday March 26th to get the Navigation System Manual. The Salesperson delivered the Navigation System Manual to our home. Eugene and Earnestine Walker More
I purchased my new car via the internet. It was pleasant to deal with Jodie Eakins which did what he could in order to get me a good deal. The rest of the staff was also friendly. Due to a lot of medical bills, I have a lot of debt that makes my credit not that good. I expected h a higher rate and payments, but didn't expect a $1900 warranty thrown in. I thought it was the taxes as it wasn't really explained at the time. A couple days later as I was looking over the paperwork, i realized what it was and went in to see Mike. I really didn't want the extra warranty. That's why we by Nissans. They have great quality. Mike explained that it was being driven by the finance company. I really felt at this time we wouldn't get the loan if we didn't take the warranty. I didn't like that feeling. Mike did make a call ( I guess to someone in Nissan) about extending the warranty coverage from 72000 miles to 100,000 miles for the same price. As I felt if I didn't take the warranty I wouldn't get the car I took it as it obviously was a better deal but I end up paying $1900 more for the car and if I were able to find a better finance deal down the road, I would owe too much above the value to do it. I'm an honest, straight forward person. You had something I wanted and you had a price you were asking. I didn't try to get a better deal or ask for reductions or anything. A deals a deal, but the warranty thing just didn't settle right with me and since you ask, I thought i'd share that. I will buy Nissan again in the future, but I will probably go somewhere else because of this. Jodie is still great as he calls to see how we are doing. He reminds us that our first servicing is free and a free detail on the car. These are great things that are important, but I still have a sour taste from what i talked about.
