I walked into Ferman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lutz expecting the usual car-buying stress, but nothing prepared me for how uncomfortable the experience would become. The sales manager lady, Erin Her expecting the usual car-buying stress, but nothing prepared me for how uncomfortable the experience would become. The sales manager lady, Erin Hernandez immediately set a tone that felt more arrogant than confident. She spoke at length about her past, repeatedly reminding us that she had “run the finance department” at a Morgan BMW years ago and that she had also worked at this German store before, back when she supposedly “ran the entire finance department.” It felt less like context and more like a boast she couldn’t let go of. What really bothered me, though, was the way the conversation shifted once my credit came up. The manager casually suggested that the approval system “works better when the numbers look stronger,” implying that income figures were flexible. She joked that computers don’t ask questions and said, more than once, that approvals come back cleaner when applicants “round up.” She even criticized the current finance director, saying he didn’t know how to “work the system” the way she did and that we’d likely get better terms if we just claimed a higher income. The whole thing made my stomach turn. She spoke with complete confidence, as if this was normal, as if everyone did it, as if integrity was optional when buying a car. The way she brushed it off — like it was some insider trick — left me stunned. Whether she thought she was helping or just showing off, it crossed a line. I may not have perfect credit, and yes, I might upside down in my loan, but I do have integrity. I’m not willing to lie about my finances to get approved for a car loan, and I’m certainly not interested in being coached to do so by someone in management. I left without buying anything. Not because of the car. Not because of the price. But because the experience felt ethically wrong. Arrogance, pressure, and casual disregard for honesty don’t belong in a financial transaction especially one that can affect someone’s life for years. Whatever ferman thinks it’s selling, it wasn’t trust! More
