Sales team was great and friendly and got everything done in a great amount of time but the Finance Dept. is just completely worste than bad. I would not recommend this dealership if you plan on financing th in a great amount of time but the Finance Dept. is just completely worste than bad. I would not recommend this dealership if you plan on financing through them. First they ask me for a down payment which was completed and then was asked for more money down for other B.S that they said they couldnt release the vehicle without purchasing (Gap insurance, Warranty, Loan Insurance?????)etc. Secondly I had to get BBB involved just to get my trade paid off while my trades lien holder was harrassing me for payment and all Empire's sales manager said was "We're taking care of it". Service dept isn't that great when it comes to working on cars that are other than Hyundai by placing wrong parts on the vehicle, selling it, me taking it home with warning lights on and being told it will shut off eventually (meantime) I had to call the rightful dealership to get my own info on what they recommend and bring the car back to Empire to bring to the Righful dealership to get fixed. I mean these guys are a bunch of Clown in my book and I will NEVER do business with them again and have spread the word. More

Mike Camara was our salesman, he was very professional and courteous to both my wife and I as we searched to buy a new car. We purchased the vehicle late on a Tuesday evening, and he promised the vehicle and courteous to both my wife and I as we searched to buy a new car. We purchased the vehicle late on a Tuesday evening, and he promised the vehicle to be ready and registered by Friday We had paid for the new 2011 Elantra we purchased, on Wednesday afternoon and completed what we thought was all the paper work, but something had not been signed and Mike Camara went out of his way , driving to our home ,to sign a document that was neccesary for the completion of the registration process. We were contacted Friday at noon-time that the vehicle was registered. Mike Camara was a man of his word. We met Thomas Biffle on Tuesday evening, he introduced himself to us and we felt very much at ease talking to him, he too was courteous, informative and all around a really nice guy to deal with. When we came back to pick up the vehicle we were told it was Mike's day off, Thomas saw us come in and along with another gentelman helped us with the final paperwork , and transfer of are used vehicle. Thomas stood with us, as we waited for a short time for are new Elantra to be prepared for us. Just prior to the new car being ready, Mike Camara arrived in his personal vehicle, and came directly to us , stating that he was glad he was able to catch us before we left, and wanted to make sure that we were happy with the overall process..Kudos to both Mike Camara and Thomas Biffle for making this purchase and process as painless as possible!!!! We originally had another appointment after we left Empire at another Hyundai dealer, but we stopped and purchased at Empire. The atmosphere was more than friendly, explaining all the features of the car were explicet. Bassam and Sam Williams were extremely attentive to all our needs. Brandon the sales manager was personality plus and spoke to us as if we were the only customer in the dealership. The finance manager was amusing and handeled our loan with great efficency. The service department was cheerful and enlightening, since we have to return there to have a sunroof and instant start installed at our conveinence. We will highly recommend Empire Hyundai, even though we are residents of Narragansett R.I. All in all it was an exciting shopping experience. More

Between cash and check I left a total of $1000 deposited with them before going into the finance office. As I was sitting in the finance office working out the details my father called and informed me to stop the deal in its tracks because he was willing to cosign with me to enable an even better deal. I left there after about 3 hours without finalizing anything, notifying them that I would be back on Saturday with my father to cosign and we made an appointment for 2:00 pm the following day. My father and I came in for our appointment and first he wanted to look at the car before proceeding with any deal. As he inspected the car he noticed the rear 2 tires were completely worn on the inside tread; so much so that there wasn't any tread left at all, the tires were completely smooth. We then went inside and met the salesman and my father immediately expressed his concern that the 2 rear tires would not pass inspection, and therefore according to Massachusetts state law they shouldn't sell the car in this condition. Instead of offering to replace the tires, they at first insisted at least 4 times that all those tires were brand new. It wasn't until my father physically went outside and showed the tires to a sales manager that they admitted they were not new. Their response was that if the tires did not pass inspection, which they perform in-house, that they would replace them or that they would be more than happy to include 2 new tires in the price of my car. As per Hyundai's informative brochure entitled "Be Tire Smart Play Your Part," one way to test the tires to know if they are acceptable is to "place a penny into a tread groove. If Lincoln's head is covered by the tread you're driving with the proper amount of tread. If you can see all of his head, you should buy a new tire." The tires in question were so worn that there was not even any tread left on the inside of the tire to stick a penny into at all, but they kept insisting it would probable pass inspection. At this point my father did become angry that we were getting the run around on an obvious safety issue, but being confident that there was no way the tires would pass we were still willing to work out a deal. Since my position had been somewhat changed by the presence of a cosigner, both my parents did question whether or not it would be feasible to look at a newer car. When they asked the salesman his response was, "But I have already put so much time into this deal, I spent a lot of time yesterday working on this." We do understand he had already spent a lot of time with us, but that is his job, and because the situation had changed with the presence of a cosigner one would think he would be willing to re-evaluate my options but he couldn't be bothered. So we were still working on a deal for the initial car, with no resolution on the tires, they said we would have to settle that once we were in finance. At this point we had been there about 2 hours going back and forth about the tire situation with both the salesman and sales manager and were waiting to go into the finance office. Our salesman then informed us we would have to wait or come back in 1 1/2 hrs., that the finance guy was busy. This was very disheartening to hear and he asked if we could go out somewhere and return. Unfortunately my father had a meeting he needed to go to and that wouldn't have worked for us so we asked if we could set up another meeting for Monday evening. The salesman asked if we could come in Sunday (tomorrow), and I was unsure as it was father's day weekend and I had already wasted half of father's weekend. As we mulled it over the salesman then responded, "It's Sunday, what can you have to do on a Sunday?" I found this to be very rude and presumptuous of him but father said it was fine and we agreed on an appointment Sunday at 1 pm. When we arrived Sunday and the salesman met us at the door he said, "What are you doing here?" I was flabbergasted and could only respond, "Uh...we have an appointment, remember?" And he said, "Oh I thought we decided on Monday evening." I couldn't believe it, he was the one who guilted us into coming in Sunday, rudely assuming we had nothing to do, and then he didn't even remember! I will now abbreviate the rest of the story but basically both he and the sales manager seemed to have forgotten all about the tire issue and they didn't remember our appt so we were told we'd have to wait a while for finance. So at that point my father was furious and I thought it best to ask for my deposit back. The salesman said he'd be right back. After waiting a good bit I looked over to see him outside smoking a cigarette so I proceeded to the main desk. The manager seemed very nice and understanding of all the frustration we were having and said he could not give us our deposit as it was Sunday, that we'd have to come in Monday and they would have a check ready for us. Monday we go to get our check and they don't know what we're talking about, we wait about 20 min and are told to come back Tuesday, the check will be ready after 9 am to be picked up. Today I went to get the check and once again, no check is ready, they act as though they have no idea what I am talking about and they tell me I should have called and will now have to wait (almost as if they expect me to leave and come back again). After telling them that I was not leaving until I got a check for the cash I had paid them I did finally receive a check after 15-20 minutes of waiting. This is hands down the worst experience my family has ever had with a business. Not only did they seem very shady about the tires, saying that they were "pretty sure they will pass" inspection (and us knowing that if we brought the car somewhere it definitely would NOT pass with those tires), but they made it ridiculously hard and inconvenient to get my money back. I hope this review of their horrible customer service will save someone else some aggravation and force them to raise their standards. I also urge people to look VERY closely at what they are buying there because they were clearly going to let me drive out of there in a car whose tires would not pass inspection and therefore clearly unsafe.
