Decided to write this review to help others. The car buy experience is very different from years past and I was surprised how much it has changed. First, I will only rate the purchase side of business, as w experience is very different from years past and I was surprised how much it has changed. First, I will only rate the purchase side of business, as we were not doing any finance or customer service. Of course, I hope everyone does their homework before walking onto any dealer lot. We did KBB for trade in, we did Edmunds, KBB, and others for fair market value of the new car we were interested in. Numbers in hand we have a car and price targets prepared. First observation is that Empire has added $3,888 to the MSRP price. What is that? They call it "adjusted market value". It is done on every car sticker, regardless if entry or high end. This is a new tactic to me. They packaged it around a couple of oil changes to sell it. Need to get rid of that. In fairness, other dealers are also using this new add-on of adjusted value. Not sure why they are doing it, but, it is obvious, many people are probably paying way to much, or actually losing any real trade-in value with this inflated price. You do not negotiate from the new top price on the sticker, you work from dealer invoice up. I fully support a dealer needs to make a fair profit as a distributor. I do not support a dealer taking advantage of anyone in this economy. If anyone has paid MSRP or higher, then you over paid and they took advantage of you. I negotiate in fair faith and reach a price point. I am then surprised with a $495 document fee for the sale. Here is the problem. Q. I ask why the fee? A. It is required by law in MA for record keeping. Q. Do all dealers charge this fee? A. Yes, everyone is the same. Q. Why did you not tell me this fee is added to the cost of the car? A. All people know this. It is part of the cost of buying a car. Bottom line. I checked with MA Governor Office and consumer affairs. It is NOT a law to charge this fee in MA. Any dealer can charge what they want. Empire is the 2nd highest dealer in the state with this fee. The average is about $250-299. Summary, they lied, they misled, to get a sale. We shut it down and found another dealer that was honest and fair, and we did purchase a new car we are happy with. Nice to learn some dealers still have integrity and get "customer service". Do your homework people or get played. There is no reason that people should be paying MSRP or higher for these cars. Make sure you ask your dealer what their doc fee is up front and add that cost to your negotiation so you are working with true total costs. Be polite and respectful in your buying offers, but, remember, it is still your right to say no if you do not like the dealer offer. Walk away and think about it, do more homework if needed. This takes out the emotion of buying a new car and helps to make a better decision in the long run. Hope this helps others with their car buying experience. Be careful out there. More

On Sat. Nov. 3, 2012, I had the opportunity to have Syed Mahmud as my sales person. Having just been through an accident which totaled my car I was somewhat depressed and not really in the mood to purchase Mahmud as my sales person. We visited Empire Hyundai and were immediately greeted with a friendly smile by Sayed. A short time later we were driving off the lot with a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Last Saturday my wife and I decided to start looking for my replacement vehicle. We were near Empire Hyundai and began our search there. Ricardo was the first person to greet us. I made it clear that I was just starting my search. He was courteous, professional. and very pleasant to deal with. There were several vehicles in the showroom. I sat in the Tucson and discovered it to be what I was looking for, roomy with just enough options. After pointing out some of its features, Ricardo sat with us, gathered some information and then took us to their lot to find a vehicle for a test drive. During this time my wife also decided to test drive the Sonata hybrid. Ricardo was great, pointing out the features and options on both vehicles. There was absolutely no pressure, which was a refreshing experience. After both test drives Ricardo came back with all the numbers for purchase vs. lease for both of us. By this time I saw that there was no need to visit another dealership. They had the vehicle I wanted as well as one of the best sales people I have ever dealt with. Ricardo Bernadino exhibited professionalism and knowledge of his products. More importantly, his caring for me as a person, not only a sale, was evident. It was a pleasure doing business with him and all the other folks at Empire Hyundai. It is also no surprise that my wife also drove away with her new hybrid. One of the other reasons we visited Empire Hyundai is the first-rate reputation of their service and the people in their service department. Although there are closer Hyundai dealerships, I am happy to have chosen Empire. More
My husband and I drove into Empire Hyundai last Saturday to loook at a replacement vehicle for him. Ricardo met us and was very curteous as he asked for our reason for the visit. We told him and he escorted us inside, gave us time to browse the showroom and then we sat in his office as he asked pertinent questions to assess our situation. I had a 2010 Sonata with only 37,000 on it and really wasn't ready for another yet. Although we were shopping for my husband, Ricardo ran the numbers for me on a new Sonata, at my request. After my husbands test drive I decided to test drive the Sonata hybrid. Again, Ricardo knew I wasn't in the market and there was no pressure on either of us. I decided later to puchase the vehicle and Ricardo ended up spending the whole day with us, even driving back to our house, several towns away to pick up my car. He traded it for me on my word of its condition and that was very cool. I highly recommend Ricardo Bernadino as a caring and competent sales person. Finally the reason we came to Empire was because of the great service and the people in the service department. We have another Hyundai dealership less than 5 minutes from our house but we chose Empire! More
The purchase of my first BRAND new car was much more bearable with the assistance of Syed Mahmud. We bought our 2002 Hyundai Sonata 10 years ago from Syed Mahmud at Empire Hyundai. We were really glad when he approached us today to help us. We had come to buy a new car today and he was helpful in every way possible. My husband recognized him immediately. He was as friendly, helpful, courteous and polite today as he was 10 years ago. It was a pleasure to buy a car from him for the second time. He made the whole process easier for us. Buying a car can be very stressful but he made it a lot easier. We would also like to mention George Rodrigues. He assisted us with the financing of our new car. He worked hard to get us the best possible deal that he could. He managed to get us an excellent interest rate, much better than we could have done on our own. He didn't pressure us into buying the extended warrantee but explained its' value to us. Well we purchased the extended warrantee for the first time. He really made it sound like a great deal and we look forward to not having to worry about our car breaking down. We know exactly what is covered and feel real good about purchasing this agreement. And the best part is that we never felt pressure to purchase it. He helped make it a pleasant experience to buy our new car. We would recommend that our family and friends see him when they are in the market for a car. We loved our Sonata and am sure we will love our Elantra just as much. More
