I’m sharing this to warn anyone purchasing a commercial truck from this dealership—especially if it’s being sold with a plow or other up-fit equipment. After the purchase, I learned that the plow was oversized for New York State roadways, making the vehicle non-compliant and illegal to operate without a special permit. At no point—not in writing, verbally, or in any disclosure—was I informed that the truck I was buying could not legally be driven as equipped. When I brought this to their attention, I expected a reasonable solution. Instead, I was told by dealership management that because I “drove it off the lot,” it was essentially my problem. I was even compared to “not buying a television from Walmart,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional considering this is a commercial vehicle I rely on for work. What concerns me most is: • The dealership sold a vehicle in a configuration that doesn’t meet NYS compliance • No disclosure was provided about permit requirements • They have refused to take responsibility or offer a meaningful remedy • The attitude toward a legitimate safety/legal issue was rude and condescending If you’re buying a work truck here, do not assume they understand DOT or NYS equipment laws. Get everything in writing, verify plow width and compliance yourself, and don’t rely on their word that a vehicle is road-legal. The salesman sent photos of the car my wife was interested in and I spoke with him about the car before visiting the dealership. We drove in from several hours away. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. The dealership has created a home town feeling, there's no reason to shop elsewhere, service is very affordable and to be honest with you their selection of new and used vehicles is darn good. Oh an they do wash your vehicle when services are completed. As long as I own my Jeep, Emerling can count on me as being a loyal customer to them. More
