I purchased a new Honda Hybrid Insight in February 2006 and have had all the service done at this dealership since that time except for emergencies. There is actually a dealer closer to my home but my sat and have had all the service done at this dealership since that time except for emergencies. There is actually a dealer closer to my home but my satisfaction with Honda of El Cerrito is such that I have not transferred my service needs. Service and Parts personnel all unfailing polite, friendly, and efficient. It is more expensive to service a hybrid than a standard vehicle (though I do not know why) so I'm less pleased with the pricing. I rated the overall experience of my last visit as only "good" since I must return to complete needed service since the part (battery) was not in stock. More

I bought my Ridgeline at Honda of El Cerrito and have had it serviced there since. They have an organized process for service that works well, but it is their continual emphasis on how I feel they did that m it serviced there since. Got an Internet quote on a new 2010 Honda Accord from Ashley Corbin(and a welcome message from Paulina Sanson) and a subsequent phone call from Silvia confirming the quote and asking me to come to El Cer Ashley Corbin(and a welcome message from Paulina Sanson) and a subsequent phone call from Silvia confirming the quote and asking me to come to El Cerrito from San Mateo at 6:30 PM on a Tuesday night. Politely said that I would be down there on Thursday morning. Left my not-so-well baby at home (San Mateo) on Thursday morning -- walked up to the bus stop from my home at 7:15 AM -- took the bus to Cal train station -- took Cal train to Mill brae -- changed to Bart -- took Bart to El Cerrito -- reached dealership at 9:35 AM Spent 1.5 hours checking out the car, doing the paperwork, got a hard check on my credit history, a couple of calls from work as to when I would be coming in to work and back to my office at 2:45 PM. For what ? To hear from Silvia Garcia and his manager that there is a $900+ in dealership fees justified by dealership options (like clear coat covering etc) put in the car ( I never asked for those) which I did not want in the first place that they are ready to split with me and pointing at the fine print in the mail sent saying that "Unit must be in stock and may contain additional accessories". My fault : disregarding the bad reviews posted on yelp about Honda of El Cerrito and not asking in writing for the out-of-door price. From the way the conversation went after the deal went down south, I wonder whether anything written by you or any other sales person from Honda of El Cerrito would be honored once a customer is actually in the dealership. I do understand that everybody has their operating costs and wants a profit on a sale but this is thoroughly unprofessional and very unethical. On his (Silvia's manager, forget his name) defense, he had to offer the logic that a. every dealer in town would do the same to lure customers and b. I am not going to miss the extra money he is asking for as opposed to the trouble of finding another dealer to sell me a car. Really ? Till the time I told them I not going to pay the extra they are putting on my shoulder, Silvia was ready to drive me back home or buy me dinner if needed. Once things started heading south : she did not even bother to give me a courtesy lift up to the BART station (less than 2 mins from the dealership). So much for Silvia / Ashley/ Paulina and Honda of El Cerrito sales team (excerpt from Paulina's email ): I will personally ensure that your entire transaction goes smoothly from start to finish and promise to provide a consistent stress-free buying experience. My goal is for this to be the best car buying experience you have ever had. Stay away from these guys if you are not the kind of person who can play car salesmen (or women). More
I bought a new 2010 Honda Accord EX from this dealer earlier this week. My experience with them was the best I have ever had after 40 years of buying cars. I began with the internet department and was earlier this week. My experience with them was the best I have ever had after 40 years of buying cars. I began with the internet department and was offered a reasonable deal for the new car and my trade-in. My appointment with the sales associate was handled in a very professional manner and all questions answered in a knowledgeable manner. I even got a tour of the service department. What I really appreciated about my experience was that no one was pushy or tried to sell me something I did not want. I also appreciate this dealership's regular support of our local NPR radio station!! More
My husband and I live within walking distance of our local Honda delearship. Having been a Toyota owner for the past 10years I had no reason to visit Honda of El Cerrito prior to last weekend. He have r local Honda delearship. Having been a Toyota owner for the past 10years I had no reason to visit Honda of El Cerrito prior to last weekend. He have recently added to our family and started thinking about purchasing a new (pre-owned) vehicle to ensure that are precious cargo was safe during our travels. Backing up several years, I clearly remember a co-worker telling me what an awesome experience her young daughter had making her first major purchase of a new Civic at Honda of El Cerrito. I've also had four current co-workers rave about the customer service at this dealership. Everytime I see a car with the El Cerrito Honda license plate frame I think about what a good reputation they have and if I were ever going to buy a Honda I would drive 30+ miles to this dealership over my local dealership. We made that 30+ mile drive last weekend and I have no regrets, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm not afraid to ask for anything or speak up about what I want. Closed mouths don't get fed. My sales consultant Erick didn't make us feel like my requests were heinous or unreasonable. We walked out with a vehicle we love, a vehicle that is safe for our family and under the price I was looking for. I came to work immediately and told my co-workers what a pleasant experience I had. I will tell anyone who will listen that this is the place to purchase your brand new or pre-loved Honda. More
I have a very bad experience on this dealership, too. I went there for purchasing a 2009 4-Cyl. Accord Ex in February. The manager offered $23,500 OTD and I walked away. Then, they told me on the phone tha went there for purchasing a 2009 4-Cyl. Accord Ex in February. The manager offered $23,500 OTD and I walked away. Then, they told me on the phone that their manager was OK for $23,000 OTD. I didn't go buy the car as I had to be out of town at that time. In Match they called me again, I told them that I saw some east coast people talking on Edmunds.com that they paid much lower for the same vehicle. The sales person ecouraged me to print it out and bring to dealership. When I got their they told me the OTD for the same car would be $23,800. I asked them how could they change the offer because their manager agreed on $23,000 plus there is $1000 of manufactorer's incentive in March but only $750 in February. They told me they replaced their general manager. The $23,00 OTD was approved by the ex-manager. Under the new management, the price would go up to $23,800. What a joke. Never believe these pathological liars! More
I was just about to buy my car from another dealership when I received a follow up e-mail from El Cerrito. It was some sort of heavenly intervention because I later read horrible reviews about the salesma when I received a follow up e-mail from El Cerrito. It was some sort of heavenly intervention because I later read horrible reviews about the salesman I was meeting with the next morning. Anyway, the quote I was sent was hundreds less than any of the other nearly 10 dealers I had dealt with. When I called Danny, he was a little concerned that I intended to finance through the credit union rather than dealer financing, and informed me that I needed to bring a certified check in order to purchase the vehicle. This wasn't a problem, however. He then referred me to Jong Peck, who was very easy going and easy to work with. He had the car ready for me to look at the next day, as well as all the paperwork, so that I could get done quickly. The financing guy tried to sell me the usual extended warranty and extra alarm system, but accepted "no" for an answer without a fuss. When I brought the check in, Sylvia helped me from there. She was very courteous and answered all my questions. The whole experience was above average for car buying, and I would recommend this dealer to anyone. More
Our families dealing with El Cerrito Honda came through referral. As far as we are concerned, it is a referral worth its weight in gold. The entire sales and service staff worked with us for both new and referral. As far as we are concerned, it is a referral worth its weight in gold. The entire sales and service staff worked with us for both new and used vehicles. There were no pressure tactics and definitely no subterfuge on the part of El Cerrito Honda. Customer service: A 5 for being pleasant, followup phone calls, understanding and patient when we were under time constraints to "get things done" and when we had to pick up a vehicle later than normal or the next day. Quality of work: A 5, for the detailing of the used vehicle. Friendliness: A 5, for always being cheerful 24/7. Overall experience: A 5 for the family atmosphere and the "gong" for a new car sale (nice touch), and for putting up with our kids! Price: A 5 for matching prices to previous offers of other dealers. El Cerrito Honda, when you are ready to buy a Honda, they are ready to help you. More
