Eastside Auto is worthy of criminal investigation by the state, and I am currently pursuing a civil case for fraud. In short, do not trust this dealer. Better yet, do not come within a five mile radius of t state, and I am currently pursuing a civil case for fraud. In short, do not trust this dealer. Better yet, do not come within a five mile radius of their lot to avoid getting hit by someone test driving one of their dangerous cars. Wayne Moore sold me a 2008 Hyundai Sonata, which broke down three days later. Wayne Moore and his manager, Ray, promised me that if I discovered any significant problems within the first few weeks, they would help me out. But after three days of driving, the engine and oil filter lights came on. When I pulled over to the side of the road, the engine seized, the brakes locked, and I rolled into a ditch, and I was left stranded by a highway in the middle of the night. After getting it towed to a car technician the next day, I was told the only reason the car had made it off the lot was because Eastside had filled it with heavier oil. The engine was destroyed, as there were chunks of metal ridden throughout the engine and the oil. The cost to replace the engine would be more than what I paid for the whole car. The next day, I took the car to a second technician, who confirmed the diagnosis. For some reason, I thought Eastside was a family owned name in cars I could trust. When I called Eastside, Wayne Moore refused to speak to me about the car, saying I could only talk to his manager Ray. I told Ray I had pictures to prove the engine was totaled and that the error code timestamps proved that the problem existed before I bought the car. When Ray said he didn’t trust my technicians, I offered to pay the costs to take it to a third car technician of his choice. When he said he’d only take it back if he could look it over himself, I offered to pay the costs to tow it back to his lot. When he still refused, I told him I was between homes and couldn’t afford to buy another car. He laughed at me. It was quite obvious that Ray and Wayne Moore knew that they’d sold me a lemon and didn’t care at all about their reputations or their consciences. When I started the process of selling the car to a scrap yard for parts, I ran into another issue, which was that Eastside never took the car’s title into its own name. This is a legal loophole in the state of Oregon that allows fraudsters to avoid taking responsibility for a car. So I had to spend a day at the DMV making the case that I was the victim of a fraudulent business and wasn’t trying to pass on a stolen car, which I was eventually able to do after paying a large fee. If you look at some of the other reviews, you’ll read about many other similar experiences. Many of the positive reviews are fake. The Cars.com 5-star review from Sep 15, 2016 was written by “Eastside Auto Sales.” And another review on Carfax was written by Wayne. In these cases, they were too stupid or didn’t care to come up with fake names for their fake reviews. This place has been in business since 1974 because their business model is taking in lemon cars for cheap from other lots and passing them on to their customers. Don’t fall for it like I did. More
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER! ! At first, they seemed nice and didn’t pressure us to buy a car. But DON’T GET FOOLED. We bought a car two weeks ago, and the engine completely brok ! At first, they seemed nice and didn’t pressure us to buy a car. But DON’T GET FOOLED. We bought a car two weeks ago, and the engine completely broke down after two days of driving across the country (even after we had taken it to Honest-1 Auto Care for a pre-purchase inspection; wouldn’t recommend going there either). Replacing the engine would cost more than what we paid for the car. And talking to anybody at Eastside Auto Sales has been impossible. They are not helpful or understanding of our situation. We got different opinions about the car, and they all said that they probably knew about the problem before selling the car to us. When we talked to them over the phone, they basically laughed at us. They are difficult to talk to and don’t care about their customers at all. THEY SCREWED US UP and they totally knew that when we bought the car. Please, STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. You don’t want to buy a car from them! More
Please do not trust this dealership. The engine may need to be replaced. The dealership will not do ANYTHING to help him. They wont' even talk to us about options or a possible resolution. The owner was angry, defensive, emotional and irrational. He couldn't even have a conversation about the situation. How does someone take advantage of a kid who saved money to buy a car that fails in 2 weeks? I am not sure how people like this sleep at night. Its disgusting. If you do your research there are a lot of people who feel that they purchased lemons from this dealership. Please do not take the risk. They are not good people, they do not stand behind their cars or their dealership. They are the worst of the worst out there. More
Not to be trusted. I had a good experience with this dealer and in particular with Beau back in 16 when we bought my wife a car from them. So when I was looking for a sp I had a good experience with this dealer and in particular with Beau back in 16 when we bought my wife a car from them. So when I was looking for a specific vehicle and saw they had one, I contacted them. I spoke to Beau, reminded him I had purchased a car from him previously and asked about the vehicle I was interested in. That was Sat. night and the next day was Easter so they were closed. I told Beau, I am a retired mechanic so I do not mind minor repairs and regular maintenance, but I will know if there is something wrong with the car and I do not want a car with serious mechanical issues. He said, since you are a repeat customer and you are trusting me with your business, let me personally test drive the car on Mon and get back to you. He was solicitous and friendly, just like he had been before. I spoke to him on Mon and he told me the car was in excellent shape mechanically, and the only issue he raised was some paint deterioration on the hood. I told him I would be there the next day to test drive it and if it really is in good shape, I'll buy it on the spot, cash. We made an appointemnt for between noon and 1pm. It is a 6 hour round trip from my place to his dealership, so that was pretty much as early as I could get there. NO problems he said, see you then. I had to cancel some appointments, my wife had to cancel some appointments, and we had to get someone to come take care of our dogs while we were gone. We were on our way, about an hour into the drive and we called him to let him know we might be a bit late. Again, no problem, see you when you get here. Never any mention that there was any interest in this car, or suggestion we put a deposit on it to hold it. We did in fact make it by 1pm but Beau was at "the other lot". They said they called him and he was on his way over. Then the vehicle I am there for rolls into the yard. We wait a few minutes, waiting for Beau, while the other salesman is talkign to the guy who drive the vehicle in. Then I hear him telling the guy, we drive 3 hours to see it, if he wants it he'd better make the deal now. He says yes, and they fast walk him out of there to go sign papers and simply tell us oh sorry the car is sold. When we get upset they get rude, but they assure us Beau is on his way and we'll have to talk to him about this. I get suspicious and my wife calls Beau on her cell. No he is not on his way, in fact he says he isn't going to even come over unless we make a scene and demand it, unless he "has to" (his exact words). We get all sorts of well you didn't put a deposit on it, crap from him and the other salesmen. And a lot of, hey too bad sucker, attitude. The idea that when you make an appointment with someone driving 6 hours round trip to see a specific car, someone who is a repeat customer, that you should let them have a chance to test drive and buy the car and not sell it out from under them, seems totally foreign to these guys. And Beau knows they're in the wrong, he is hiding at the other lot and will not even face me. No admission that this was wrong or just that ti was poor customer service, no nothing. Their whole attitude was what's your problem buddy? (in fairness one of the salesmen did apologize to us privately and say that this was terrible customer service, but not the guy who used our interest and long drive to sell the car out from under us, and not my "bud" Beau. These guys have no integrity. They are dishonest, and they are the worst of what you think of when folks say used car salesman. My wife was furious, but I realized I had been saved from doing additional business with a company and person I would never willingly deal with now that I know what they are really like. I doubt Beau ever did drive the car. I consider myself very lucky that the first vehicle I bought from them, turned out to be a good car. I got lucky that More
